Anybody starting Sept 26, 2011? If so, mount up.

  • Hi to all in the group!  I am starting today, one day behind everyone, but would love to join the group.  Have let myself slip this past year, all sorts of reasons, but am determined to get a grip now, get in shape and eat well.  Such a great feeling to be fit and lean and eating healthy, I want to experience it all again!

I also like the thought of starting pre-holidays..... I am tired of approaching Thanksgiving dinner and meeting up with people I see maybe once or twice a year only, and not feeling good about myself.  I will visualize entering the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons wearing "thin" clothes and feeling confident and supercharged!

54 years old, single mom of two, 16 years and 19 years.

    Great day!

  • Hey everyone! Hope you all got on well with your first day and aren't too sore today! I recommend the BFL breakfast burrito. I had it this morning & it's yum! Though I'd recommend females use 1 egg and 1 sausage instead of 2 of each. I found it really filling and couldn't finish it!! Xx

  • Willtowin ~ Welcome!  You can do this!  Are you starting w/ cardio today or weights?  Have a great day!

  • Good morning all; hope everyone had a good first day!  I am now on day 3, began my day with lower body workout (and am already having trouble getting down the stairs) and a shake.  I'm trying to mentally get into this.....my schedule is just so crazy with my jobs and driving kids around; getting the right meals at the right times is my most difficult task.  Wishing everyone a great day.

Does anyone know how to add friends on here?  I've had a couple "friend requests" which have come up on my blackberry but can't seem to find where to add.  Since I'm part of this group now, it might be good to link to others for support.

  •   Good Morning everyone! I'm on my second day and had a good aerobic workout. My triceps were a little sore from yesterday's workout but overall I feel pretty good. I'm learning that I can't keep up with the young ones but I CAN do my best and it seems to be working. Oh, by the way I'm 56 yrs young =) I started the day off with some nice cold water to get the metabolism started and when my hour is up, I'll have a little oatmeal and fruit with a protein drink. Have a great day!

  • Cardio done!  I took it outside this morning, nice crisp fall day here in OH.   Started my day off with a green drink and two egg whites.

I'm an old fan of Betagen ( a recovery drink that EAS used to make)........  it's no longer available.  Anyone have any suggestions for a good recovery drink?  I can feel a good case of DOMS coming on from yesterday's workout......

NPCGibson ~ if you click on someone's name it'll bring you to their page to add as friends, I'm sure if you go to your own profile page, it'll have an "accept friend" button.

Hope everyone has a great day!  Stay strong everyone!

  • Good morning everyone! I am jealous of your weather Marce. Fall is my favorite time of the year and here in NorCal, the temp will be somewhere in the mid 80s. Last week it was in the 90s, so we haven't had the crisp weather yet.

I just had some protein pancakes, but I don't think I had enough, so I will have to adjust the size of them. I will be doing weights during lunch and at after work the whole family will be going running. Can't do too many miles because baby Kaylee starts to get all fussy.

  • You go!!!!

  • What is DOMS.  Keep seeing that posted...

  • Day 1 was great and day 2 off to a wonderful start.  So glad I have joined the community.  This has got to make things easier.  I am so super excited.  I did my upper body workout last night.  and also added 30 mins of cardio.  I love power walking and want to do this more than 3 days a wk.  Does anyone know if this will hurt my result?.  I love to walk, it's my time by myself to think.  But I don't want to do anything that is going to negate my other hard work.

  • Day 2 - Off to a good start ... in spite of waking up to a migraine H/A and my dog barfing....got my aerobic work out in before breakfast on the elliptical as planned.  I probably could have used more intensity, but that gives me something to focus on for Thursday.

Reading others' stories of life set-backs makes me realize that my obstacles are usually small and mostly in my mind. We can do this -- as you all are demonstrating. Thanks for sharing your stories.

Question: I am going hiking in the mountains on Saturday (I just moved to Colorado-yay!) and the trail is easy to moderate and will take about 1 1/2 hours. Should I consider that my aerobic workout or still do 20 minutes on the elliptical?  Thanks for the help :)

  • Blessed Mom ~ Doms - Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness     A ton of water helps, stretching helps, but nothing can take away that gasp that slips out two days after a lbwo when you're walking down the steps or trying gracefully to sit down on the potty....... (eeeek)

Radiant-one, I would think that if you get your heart rate up, it would count as cardio, but if not, I'd do the 20 mins on the elliptical....

Halfway through the day, had a beautiful spinach salad w/ grilled chicken, tomato and red onion :)  It's a very pretty salad and packed w/ nutrients.

Stay strong everyone, resist those afternoon treats at the office!!

  • radiant-one: I would absolutely count hiking as your cardio-- especially if you can still do the intervals, which I believe you can.  Just take it easy for the first two minutes, then gradually step it up to a level 9, then slow back down again, and so on.  I imagine it'd be the same as when you're just out for a walk/jog, except you have the added elevation and awesome scenery.

Marce-- not sure about the recovery drink, but I know BeachBody makes one that's supposed to be good, although I haven't tried it, myself.  What's a green drink?  Your spinach salad sounds great, btw!

RToons-- Totally feel you with the tricep soreness!

Blessed Mom, CaliRunner13, ncpgibson, foxygem999, willtowin, and everyone else-- great work!  Keep it up!  Group 9/26 stayin' strong!!

  • Hi All,

I just caught myself up on your forum so far.

Like Corinne, I started on 9/22 myself. I found this book at a library bookstore and started reading it last week, and decided to just go ahead and start on Thursday.

I am a 26 year old female in Southern California. I've been looking for a job for a number of months and in that time had not been exercising or eating well. However, after getting on the scale the other day and seeing that at 5'1" I now weigh 154 lbs (gained 10 lbs this year so far), I realized that I have all this time and should use it for my health.

In addition, I just moved in with a friend in a wheelchair that needs some caretaking. We found out the hard way that I lost muscle strength during this abyss, and can't yet lift her. Now, not only is muscle good, it is now necessary for me to have in my upper and lower body.

Please let me know if there is a yahoo group for the 9/26 groupies.

I would love to share recipes.

    Jamie

  • JamieRau-- a yahoo group?  I don't believe we have one.  What are the benefits and differences from the BFL forum?  And welcome! : )
