August 15th Starters!!!

  • One Day done!!!! Congrats everybody. We are well on our way!!!!!

I highly recommend the Success Journal Body for Life. I has everything to keep track of for each and every day. It has helped me stay on track and organized. I look forward to our shared joy on day 84!!!!

  • Welcome, terip48! It's not too late.

  • Aubreejo 11 if you are doing the 20 minutes the way it's described in the book you don't need any more. I did a challenge about 10 years ago and got great results with that 20 minutes and if you are doing it right you shouldn't have anything left after 20 hope that helps.

  • not sure that you should be hungry gkurtmiller. I have done this a couple of times and if you are eating every two to three hours and getting the right amount of food you shouldn't be hungry the idea is to keep your body burning by fueling it every few hours. Hope that helps.

  • I started today too. Good first day!! I'm a bit "lost" in the weight room...but finding my way around. I have trained for two marathons and many triathlons...figured if I can do an 18-week marathon training program, I can do this for 12 weeks and try something new!!! Look forward to some support and help throughout.

  • I started today as well! I have tried the challenge multiple times, but expect too much of myself, way more than the challenge requires, and set myself up for failure. I am so excited to see this forum and hope that communication with other August 15th starters will help keep me on track.

  • Day one was a success! My workout was great & I only ate the food I had planned, it felt like I was eating all day.

  • Day 1 is done and I have to come clean ~ I ate very well but did not participate in exercise.  I will tell you why....for the past several months (January 14, 2011 to be exact) I did "something" to my leg, hip, thigh on the left side.  I have been to the chiro, orthopedic specialist, had Ultrasound treatments and now I am doing acupuncture.  I had my 3rd treatment yesterday after work and IT'S WORKING!!  I am able to stand from a sitting position without pain, bend my leg 90 degress without pain, roll over in bed while sleeping and not wake up with PAIN!  I have my 4th treatment on Thursday and the acupuncturist told me although I am feeling better ~ DON'T DO ANYTHING THAT WOULD JEPORDIZE MY LEG HEALING!

My plan for today is to get on the treadmill after work and walk.  If I'm doing good, I will up it to a slight jog.  I belong to Snap Fitness and will do my Upper Body ~ for sure.  I'm just nervous about doing any lower body / cardio that would push me backwards with my leg.

I am planning on charting my progress on this tread on a daily basis.

Take care and make today all that it can be!

  • Good morning all!

Food is lined up for the day (except for lunch - I have a lunch meeting so I am not sure what I am eating) and I am headed down to work out!  Feel great after yesterday and looking forward to a healthier me!

    Have a successful day!

  • sounds like everyone is off to a great start!

aubree- i believe if the workouts are hitting "10's" and you are doing a true HIIT for 20 minutes, that should be sufficient.  i will say that i had already previously signed up for a road race this fall and am training for that as well.  i have 2 extra cardio (run) sessions scheduled per week, for an extra 60-90 minutes... so not too much of a deviation.

I AM SORE!!!!!  but in a good way.  i know from my body that i really start to feel the tenderness on day 2, but can already feel my upper body workout from yesterday.  love that feeling.  i did have to battle with myself to crawl out of bed this morning... but if i don't get these 4:30 workouts in, they won't get done.

    happy day 2!

  • buggie- i have a big luncheon with work vendors tomorrow, thinking that i may choose that meal as my "free" day if the options aren't there to choose wisely.

  • I am headed some place local so luckily I will be able to find something "BFL approved"!

  • If you do the high intensity intervals as described, 20 minutes will be enough(although I like to cool down about 5 minutes extra). The operative word is "high intensity". That means a rate of perceived exertion that is level 9-10 on a scale of 1-10, how hard do YOU feel you are working, NOT the setting on the cardio machine. Don't cheat yourself! Hope this helps.

  • What do you all drink during the day? I'm not a coffee drinker but am missing my caffeine.

  • I have one cup of black coffee before I work out but that is all I have ever done.  Then I just do water and of course my evening drink of wine has now turned to water ;-)
