I really hit the weights hard wed. My triceps are really killing me. Really really hurts. I missed only 1 day this week (today) so far. It is my wife's bday tomorrow and she asked that I take the day off to see the new Harry Potter with her. As a result it kinda threw my whole day off. I will still get the aerobic in tomorrow to be 5 for 6 this week. I feel like my body is looking better, but haven't really shed any lbs yet. I have been sticking to the gym part of the plan, but I do need to crackdown on the eating part.
How is everyone else doing?
Going well here, 2 weeks in and can see the changes happening. Cant wait till the end....
Wouldnt worry too much about 1 missed session, its gonna happen at some point just ttrain harder the next one.
The key with this though is the diet, you can train like Arnie (You can leave the housekeeper alone) but if not eating right you will not see any major changes, you may put some muscle on but the majority of the fat will still be there. I have tried this last year, managed about 6 weeks but probably never really stuck to the diet, the results were ok but im probably where I was then now, because I am cutting the fat too.
Im no expert so not trying to preach, just want you to stick to the program and get the results you deserve for the hard work and effort put in to it.
So Traiin hard, eat clean and sleep like a baby!!
Hi also started 2July2011. I find having 2 exercise days on weekend works for me with freed day on friday. to help with power mindset reading covey's seven habits and maxwells 360 degree leader. Bill and covey are similar. read 7 new patterns of action. this is my third try. my mindset is the difference this time round.
Best of luck
Hi
Week 3 started today. Gave biceps a good work over today. Have not missed a workout yet despite the freezing SA winter. Also no significant lbs lost yet. Clothes are fitting better and beginning to see some muscle growth. have not got the portion size right with eating for life yet but will look at it more closely this week.
facilitating an enterprise review this week and must avoid the junk table at tea and lunch time! need to break eating under stress habit!
I started on the 5th and the workouts are going great!! I feel the difference, but also don't see a drop on the scale. I think I will just ditch the scale until later because my jeans feel a bit looser already and they are my measuring tape.. I have a pair that are one size too small.
I also work out on the weekends because I have more time! I have my exercise free day on Monday (which is my busiest day at work) and rather than a free day, I allow myself a free meal with some wine or beer ... and that could be whatever day works.
But to reiterate, I think if you don't have a lot of weight to lose, skip the scale ... go with measurements and how you feel or it can be discouraging.
Feeling great!!! So far, so good!
Hi Karren
Great tip about the jeans. Have a pair i bought three years back, does not fit and never worn. Think i will try them once a week and ditch the scale completely.
Heading of to gym in about an hour to do 20 minutes cross trainer (elliptical trainer). Going to work it
Enjoy your Monday off!
Ouch, tech, injuring your triceps is pretty painful. I did that once when I used too much weight on them years ago, and have been very very careful ever since to not do it again! You don't realize how much your triceps are used in daily life until it hurts too much to straighten your arm.
Start of week 3. Done pretty good so far, haven't missed a workout and been doing pretty good with the food. Well, with the exception of my Free Day, which was Saturday. That was pretty bad lol. Friday I weighed in at 207 flat (down from 211.8 the 1st) and this morning I was at 210. Definitely gained some water weight back from the free day. But, my pants are still fitting a bit looser, so it's all good!
Hi All
End of day 17. Laziness almost got the best of me. Dragged myself to gym. Glad i did, had a great leg workout. So easy to lose momentum.
Phil don't worry too much about gain on your free day. 1-6= - 5. There will be a nett loss at the end of the week.
Keep well and lets keep the momentum!
Triceps feel much better today. Looking forward to W3D1 today!
I also haven't seen much change on the scale, but everything seems to fit better. I want to get hardcore this week on the diet part. I think I have been sticking to the general composition of the diet rules, but not the 6 smalls vs 3 large part. I need to really go shopping and plan.
Half way through day 18!! Just finished 20 minutes on the cross trainer and feeling good. Have to tread carefully tomorrow. Work function with the normal junk food catering. Work stress and junk food are a bad combination.
Keep going everyone.
Junk food...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Im sure you will be ok, take something with you, a Chicken Wrap or something else you could sneak in.
Hi,
I hope you dont mind me hijacking this thread but I started properly on the 7th of July so I thought I would tag along with you for some support!
How have everyones results been so far? I am on day 1 of week 3 and have lost 6lb and a few inches all over. I feel great but Im impatient lol! I want to see results NOW!
Also a question about the eating side of things....I have been sticking to clean foods 100% apart from on treat days but havent been religiously sticking to the carbs and protein at each meal rule nor the 6 small meals rule. Is anyone else the same?
I would really like to get better at that but some days I really struggle and end up just having bran flakes or oatibix for breakfast! I still get the right amount of carbs/protein throughout the day though.
Also, I feel like, in week 3 I have only just got used to the workouts and the right weights to use...is this normal? Anyone else had the same experience?
Looking forward to hearing how youre all getting on! We CAN do this!

I am on day 17 today and feel Fantastic! It really is unbelievable. I am already into my jeans that were one size down .. I haven't weighed myself and don't intend to as I am not focused on that. I have been diligent with all of my workouts and have increased the weights since I started. I find the cardio really hard but have also increased the speed so I suspect it will always be that way. I am dripping with sweat and gasping for breath when I am done. Not a pretty sight, I am sure. I take a free day from exercise and a few free meals a week.
Last night I went out for a dinner so shared an appetizer (panko crusted chicken strips) had a big salad and way too much wine ... that was my cheat ... felt like hell working out with a hangover today but managed ..hahaha ... It is just nice to be able to do that!
Angelcake, I am not perfect with the meals either. I seldom get 6 in because the timing gets off ... but I do make sure that everything I eat is nutritious and do make sure I eat complex carbs with at least 2 of the meals and simple carbs with all of them. If you are just having cereal, add some quick protein (half a cup of cottage cheese or a protein shake with it)
The first time I did the challenge it took me a few weeks to get used to the weights also .. That is normal.
Did you get through the junk food work function Mervsra??? That is always hard!
I hope everyone is doing well!!!
Karren
Hi karren,
Thanks for the response! Well done on the progress so far! How many challenges have you done?
I know youre right about protein with breakfast, I'm just always in a rush and cereal is the quickest thing...protein shakes take me aaages to drink!
I hope I have not stunted my progress with the weights. I feel like up until my last 2 workouts I wasnt working hard enough as I didnt know what worked for me and what didnt. I got doms every time though so i mustve been doing something right!

Hi Guys,
So I am definitely stopped in this program. It started with me skipping 2 days, and then I went to the gym again, but while playing squash I hurt my back. Thankfully nothing too serious, just soreness. But I am definitely feeling the effects, as I found myself at a fast food joint yesterday with my co workers. I need to re align my goals to my action, and get back to the basics as soon as my back is back to normal.
No way I am going to quit!!!!
