Team Triumph Starting 3/28/11

  • Hi Patty, I'm here! :-)  And hello to everyone else.  I'm checking in as requested.  I'm doing well.  I have healed up completely and can do all and any exercises now....YAY!!!!! :-)

Patty I'm so sorry about the mix up.  I told you I was doing the Transformation Summer Challenge and I am but its for 8 weeks, not 18......my bad!  I see you have checked it out already though.  I tuned in last night for the WebTV broadcast but like you said they were having technical difficulties.  Do you know if they aired it today or not?  I will have to check later when I have more time.

Sorry for the short post but gotta get back to work.  Hope everyone is having a FANTABULOUS week 12!

    Smooches,

    Lisa aka LadyL :-)

  • Lisa -- I didn't see the WebTV but from the comments he was in good spirits.

John -- Oh that grease sounds good about now ;)

I printed all my worksheets to get ready for P90x.  I'm not looking forward to the hr + workouts and doing them at home. I have gotten very use to going to the gym. I am looking forward to the scale dropping at least 5 lbs by 7/7.  That is all I wanted out of this challenge and I couldn't get it, which still bums me out.  On one hand I feel like I wasted my time because I'm pretty much were I started minus a few inches but on the other I got to spend time with you guys.  I will take you guys over anything but I surely wish you came with 5 lbs of fat loss ;)

We have the rest of our lives to perfect this....do your best and forget the rest!

  • Whats Webtv and whats this Transformation thing? How do you guys know about this stuff?

Okay, okay, settle down - everyone knows CHICAGO pizza is the best. Check out Gino's Pizza if you can Patty - we love their pizza. But I have had pizza several times in NYC and I must admit, it tastes pretty good there too. Thats where we learned to put garlic powder on our pizza.

I have been so busy out in the garden, we have a pretty large one - onions, celery, lettuces, spinach, basil, cilantro, asperagus, tomotoes, peppers, brussel sprouts, blueberries, blackberries, pie (smallish) pumpkins, watermelon, cucumber, mint, chives and we just planted 2 blueberry bushes, 2 cherry trees and have to get our grapevine in as well.  I have been hoe-ing so much and its the first year I am actually enjoying gardening and weeding because I know that its extra calories being burned and keeps me busy and out of the fridge too!  I cannot wait for fresh warm tomatoes!!!  I just take the salt shaker out to the garden - YUM MEE.

I am only taking one week off and then I am going back at it. I will take off more time after the next challenge.  So I'll be starting on June 27.  I'm really only taking a week off of weight training I will continue all else....I am looking for another 20 lb loss and just not ready to stop.  We have a family weekend at the end of  August and we spend all of our time on the beach on Lake Michigan so I want to be in really good shape for that.  I feel proud of what I have done so far. Not just in the numbers but mentally I am like a different person.  I haven't "beat myself up" mentally since this started because I have learned to discipline my appetite. Its been a very rewarding 12 weeks and I will miss this team so much.

I will probably talk more on Friday night when I have more time....

  • Hi All,

Sally -- when I go to Chicago next month I will have some pizza there too :)  I'm so jealous of you garden!  I have always had a garden until I moved 4 years ago.  I have asked the manager where I live if we could start a community garden but they always blow me off.  I have been saying I was going to start a container garden but for some reason I haven't gotten serious about it. Reading your post made me say....you need to get it on this right away!

Last night I joined Beachbody.com and started reading lots of post and comments about P90x and I actually feel bad that I stopped after my 30 days with them.  It seems that a lot of people lost a lot of weight in the first month and were looking skinny.... head too big for their body kind of look.  Then the next month they bulked up.  My love (Daniel) and I both experienced similar results and I was scared I was going back to the toothpick days of my youth.  Being too skinny or fat as a child brings out the devil in some people. I was remembering the looks and the people's whispers of OMG, she is so skinny....she is just bones.  This of course from adults in my community.... yes I said  adults! So this morning I woke up with some excitement. I also regret not signing up on Beachbody before and participating on a forum like I did here.  I really think the community involvement is important to any activity we decide to participate in.

Hope everyone has a great one ----  3 more day!!

John, you've completed your 12 weeks, right?

We have the rest of our lives to perfect this....do your best and forget the rest!

  • Elisa, I meant to tell you that there is a book called Good Calories Bad Calories by Gary Taub. It is a very thick and technical/scientific study on what really happens when we eat certain kinds of calories.  He recently wrote a followup book called Why We're Fat or something like that to try to take the technical info and make it easier to read.  It wasn't until the 70s when suddenly the medical communtiy decided that fat was the problem when up to that point everyone knew sugar was the culprit to obesity.  It shows that not all calories are equal and sugar calories are especially problematic.  There is probably other stuff out on the web but I got Good Calories Bad Calories from the library.  The newer book I have not read yet.  Its some of the same research used by Adkins as well.

    Sally-for-Life!

  • Patty, just grab some seeds of basil, cilantro or other herbs you like and some potting soil and just plant them in containers in a sunny spot. They'll do the rest.  You could also put a plum or grape cherry plant in a container with some sort of small metal cage to support them. The tomatoe cages are only a few bucks. With the tomatoes and basil all you have to add is some real mozzerella cheese from the deli and a splash of balsamic vinegar and sea salt and YUM!  I grow my basil just for that salad.

Heres the bright side - your back probably isn't killing you today!  Fortunately God is seeing to it that I get a day to rest my back as it is raining today....

  • Hello Team Triumph!

We did final weigh in today.

I started at 190 and finished at 158.

My husband started at 212 and finished at 178.

We have lived this program and I can honestly say that this challenge saved our lives. We were addicted to sugar and processed foods.

We think differently, we talk differently.

I cannot wait to start transformation july 3rd because if we are different with BFL I can only imagine what will happen. The sky is the limit!  That's my new attitude.

We are going to do pics tonight and measurements and I will post those tonight.

John was so right. I have noticed a big difference in the last 2 weeks.

Ok enough about me. Patty, you rock! You look so awesome. Lisa,  I am so glad your back on track. I love your tenacity! Keep it going.

I am so excited for you guys that are doing the 8 week challenge. Please keep me informed.

My transformation name is the same. Pixiesnewbod

I hope we can all stay in touch.

We leave for vacation tomorrow so I won't check back in til the 24 th.

    My email address is pixie77356@yahoo.com

    Have an awesome day friends!!!!!

    Pixie

  • Hi Patty!

You and I must be twins....I normally don't post a lot on here, but read all the threads and like yourself have been doing BFL for the same amount of time....this is our last week! I have been doing everything to the tee, eating clean, have not missed one workout, even though I have had my moments of discouragement and unmotivation....I kept going. I started at 133 pounds and am now 135 pounds!!! Ugh!!! My body shows just a bit of muscle definition. I do feel different, but I feel like I worked my ass off for barely any results. My honey told me to try P90X, so like yourself, I will be starting it on Monday....it's my first time, so I'm a bit nervous. I'm going to join Beachbody and get on the forum too. It would be nice to stay in touch with a familiar face (so to speak). My email is jwaltersvegas@yahoo.com. Take care and good luck to us! :  )

  • Hi all,

Glad to hear that all of you seem to be doing well!  Congratulations!  Sorry that I haven't been on much - a lot going on in my life right now.  I read every post though. :)  I'm so proud of all of you.  Counting the two weeks (for me) until my next challenge.

    Take care!! :-D

  • I would love to have a pal on P90x. My good friend Tami Shoemaker became a coach after she did P90x. She is ripped and I mean ripped. I signed up as her being my coach.  If you didn't pick one already, her name is Coach TamiShoe or you can search her by email which is firesign43@gmail.com. She turned 47 this year and this is a picture of her at Lady Gaga's concert a couple of weeks ago.  She is the one in the middle.  My name by the way is pattymelts on beachbody and my email is pattymhogan@gmail.com

  • Hey, hey hey everyone. I finished my very last UBWO for this challenge last night and did cardio this morning. I just have one LBWO and one cardio left for this challenge! I feel great physically but mostly because I love reading how everyone is doing.  I'm glad its almost over but I am sad we'll all be heading in other directions.

It would be fun to do P90X with you guys but I tried it for a few weeks and I just did not like working out in front of a TV but that's just me. I do think its a great program though their recovery drink sucks now lol.

Great job to everyone on their efforts and hanging in there. I'm looking for a strong finish from all of us!

  • Pixie -- I know you are not going to see this until next week but WOO HOO!!!! You and your husband did an AMAZING job and should be so proud!

John, you will stay on BFL, right?  I just want to make sure I know where everyone is so I can say hi every now and then.  I don't care for working out at home but I could always bring my dvd player to the gym but I think I will end up doing most of it at home.  It is a different beast but I'm getting excited.

Sally-- you sound like my mom. She is always telling me to go buy a bag of soil and plant some seeds.  I have no idea why I haven't done it. I really miss working in the garden and sweating and having dirt everywhere-- I know I'm weird :)

We have the rest of our lives to perfect this....do your best and forget the rest!

  • Hello Team Triumph!

Just want to cheer you guys on til the end!

Pattymelt - I really hope you don't feel like it was a waste of time.  You, too, jwaltersvegas.  Of course I have not been able to follow your progress for the whole 12 weeks, but I just can't imagine why you didn't see amazing results if you followed it by the book.  I lost 32 pounds the first challenge and 18 pounds the second challenge.  I never cheated once or missed a single workout, and my free days were less than free.  I didn't use any supplements (never have) except Myoplex lite RTD shakes and occasionally bars.  I guess everyone's prior history with "dieting" comes into play  and everyone responds differently.

P90X is fun... but for me, I got bored with it quickly.   I like some of the DVD's more than others.  I still do some of them from time to time for variety.  I admit that I didn't follow their dietary guidelines (because I don't have them.... a friend of mine burned the disc's for me).  I like variety.  I do spin classes at my gym and the occasional bootcamp class, etc.  But when I want to really get lean, I follow Body for Life by the book.  It works.... if you work it.

Congratulations to those of you who are seeing it through til the end.  It's a big accomplishment!

  • Lady Georgia,

I updated my photos on my profile and I have become more defined but the reality is I didn't have lots of weight to lose. I am still at the same weight but I did lose 2" for my bust, waist, hips and thighs.  I'm back down to a 25" waist which I haven't had since I weighed 128.  The only problem with that is that it makes me appear even more bottom heavy.

I never got bored doing P90x with the exception of yoga but I have done yoga for years and just switch it out for one of my other dvds.  The one thing I do love about P90x is the fact that I have to eat 2,184 calories. It's amazing how I use to eat so much and still the weight was dropping.

Now I did miss 2 weeks of workouts. One last week and the other when I found out I gained weight and wanted to quit.  I also ate clean and measured everything (something I won't miss).  The day I found out I gained weight I bought a tub of frozen yogurt and had a cup.  On my free days I limited myself to only a cheat meal.

Who knows why I didn't lose any weight.  It just might me that my cycle is coming and I'm retaining water but either way it's done and I finished.

  • I measure nothing.  Perhaps you weren't eating enough on BFL.  I'll check out your pictures.  I'm proud of you for seeing it through til the end.  Best of life to you.
