Starting Monday 3/28/11

  • Hello All,

I first did the BFL program back in 1999 with good results at that time and again in 2003 with good results. Since then I've had a child and a couple of surgeries...I chalked up my difficulty getting back into shape to my busy schedule, etc. In reality, I had been having cardiac symptoms and one year ago this week underwent an emergent heart bypass surgery for an extremely rare coronary artery anomaly. In the past year I have been consistently exercising but still not as good as I should be about my diet. I don't have heart disease per se but they are treating me as high risk. Now, at age 41 I've been diagnosed with Type II diabetes (the very beginning stages). There is no more time for excuses, etc. I have to get on track now with ALL aspects of heatlhy living (both diet and exercise). I'm planning on starting the BFL program this Monday, my schedule will work best if my off day is Sundays. I following a reduced carb diet and it is very much in line with the BFL diet (except I add more veggies). I just wanted to give a shout out to anyone else considering starting this coming week (I'm sick with a bad chest cold now otherwise would start NOW).

  • Welcome aboard, and I wish you the best on your challenge.

  • Hi there,

I''m starting on the 28th too!  I've considered doing a BFL challenge for a while now and am ready to take the plunge!  My husband and I have had huge problems with infertility and although we have worked through the emotional part of it, my physical health has suffered hugely.  Although I was slim through my teens and twenties, I  have always been very unhealthy with my diet and have never done any sport or physical exercise.  I have put on a lot of weight since I got married, am extremely unfit and feel awful physically.  I have attempted a BFL challenge before but didn't complete it and have undone all my good work!  I did however learn a lot about BFL nutrition etc, so hopefully I can put this to good use for this challenge.  I've joined up at our gym and even done a few weeks of exercise to familiarize myself with the equipment and am very much looking forward to this challenge.  I am keen to be a success but am petrified of failing again - so any motivation and support would be HUGELY appreciated!

  • Hey scvb and ally,  I too am starting (again) and have had success in the past.  The first time in the late 90s and more recently last spring.  The most recent time I lost 25 lbs and was well on my way (had about 25 more to go) and stopped do to pain in my feet and general lazyness.  I gained back that weight and with coronary artery problems throughout my moms side of the family I know that this is just me playing Russian Rulette (sp?) with my life.  So I am back aboard (because I know if works).  I am 47 I live in Phx AZ.   I will write all my stats on my profile this weekend and get my meals and workouts prepped and written out. Glad to be starting with you all on Monday.

  • Sounds great!  I'm planning my shopping list for tomorrow so I'll be well stocked with healthy approved foods.  I'm sorting out my pantry too - there's a lot of unauthorized (ie, junk!) food in there, so I'm getting rid of it all.  Looking forward to it!

  • Ally ~ Planning is key to a successful challenge so you're doing the right thing in clearing the pantry  and stocking up on those approved foods.

I wish you all MUCH SUCCESS!!

I am starting the 28th with you all and will report back later.  Gotta go...have a great day!!

  • Hi there, I will be starting BFL on Monday, March 28, 2011.  I also did BFL in 1999 and again in 2003 and had phenomenal results.  My intention was to not only  "do" the challenge but "live" the challenge!!  BFL really is a lifestyle change and a program that can be lived for life but its something you have to commit to.  LIFE really does happen and it throws you curve balls so you end up getting off track.  I have had alot of things go on in the last few years myself.  I also have had a couple of surgeries to hinder me from exercising like I wanted to.  But anyway, enough of that.  I hope we can be an inspiration and motivator for one another.  I am sooo excited about getting started.  I am going to get my supplements today...YAY!!!  We have to be support for one another because it really does make a difference.  Much success to everyone!!!!

  • Hi everyone!

I am so excited to read that all of you are starting on Monday.  I am too. I started my own post, but am switching over to here so we can all be in the same place.  We can do it! :)

  • Hi again,

I was just looking at a group that named themselves the BFL Warriors.  They created their own thread to keep each other motivated and positive. I know this may sound cheese-y, but I like their idea of the name.  What do you all say to creating a name for ourselves to make it more of a group feeling and to stay motivated?  Any suggestions or ideas?

  • This way maybe in the future if any of us are going through difficult times, or medical issues, surgeries, child birth, etc., we can be there for encouragement. :)

  • Good Evening.  I will be starting my second challenge on Monday the 28th.  I would enjoy having all of you for support.  All I can say is, the program works without a doubt.  I weighted 204 pounds in the beginning of this challenge with a 38 waist.  I am now a 33 waist and 169.2 pounds.  I can also help with mistakes I made in the beginning.  Look for my updated pictures on Sunday.  I am not an expert but have learned some value tools to help progress.  Good Luck and stay focused, IT WORKS.

  • Hi! I am also starting Monday the 28th! Super excited, did the program back in early 2000's and lost 70+ pounds and went from a size 16 to a size 4!!

Good Luck to all! Great to have a support group to help motivate each other ;0)

  • HI IM STARTING TODAY YEAH, ALREADY ON A LOW CARB DIET THAT I LOVE, BUT LOOKING FOR NEW TIPS AND ENCOURAGEMENT.

  • Hi, I am also starting the program on Monday the 28th.  Let's keep each other motivated!

    Good luck everyone!!!

  • I am also starting on Monday the 28th.  I would be up for naming our group. Any ideas?  Well, anyway, I did this once before a couple years ago and lost 18 lbs but I have gained it back now.  Starting weight 182. (Ht 5'8"). Goal weight 145.  I just turned 46 and  I want to get into the best shape I have ever been in in my life - Happy Birthday to me!  I woke up this morning and had this thought in my head - "Do you want to be healthy today or lazy today?"  I think I will put that on my bathroom mirror so I see it every morning! So I went out and picked up a 25lb kettlebell and did 3 reps of 25. Just a little preparation for Monday!  I never did the forum before and I hope I can stay motivated and inspired by you all....looking forward to BFL and warmer weather here in Indiana! (How bout BFL Cubbies?  Lets Go Cubbies Lets Go.  Just kidding - just a little baseball humor...)
