First day on the Body For Life Challenge.. Looking for a support system!

  • I am a 35 year old woman who has struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember..I often eat alot of carbs and sweets which I will have to cut out (Im sure Im going to have withdrawals :)   I am so ready to do this and live a life of good health instead of the weight induced problems now...If anyone is new to this and would like to have a support system please let me know

  • Congrats on starting! this is your support system! Everyone here is great! upload some before pics so you can compare them in 12 weeks.

  • Welcome and congrats on making this awesome decision!  You will be so glad you did.  This is a great group and we would love to hear from you during your exciting journey.

  • Welcome...

You can't change the past, but you can shape the future.

The scale lies and is a horrible device for tracking results.  I personally can shift up to 5 pounds a day depending on my sodium intake and water consumption.

If you mess up and skip a gym trip let it go its gone don't try to make up for it.

If you eat badly or miss a meal let it go its gone don't try to make up for it.

Stay on schedule and have solid real goals and real reasons for doing this.

Track you workouts and results.  Challenge yourself.

  • Why does the scale shift???? that's annoying! I too hate the 5 lb difference!

  • Hasam,

After freeday it is mostly water retention because of the extra sodium your body holds the water to keep its sodium levels in check.

The raw weight of food and water going in and how much waste is going out which can vary day to day.

  • Welcome! I was also a sugar addict. You will be amazed how much better you feel once the sugar cravings are gone. BFL works and you will cherish the new you!

To achieve long-term weight loss success, you will have to come face-to-face with any emotional eating habits by asking some important questions: Do you eat sugary sweets when you're angry? Do you splurge on an extra serving of dessert when you're feeling frustrated? Being honest with yourself is the only way to get the true measure of your emotional eating triggers. Without facing them, you will always be less likely to be in control of your weight. Keep a food journal and watch your eating habits.

By maintaining a healthier weight, you are more likely to live a longer life with fewer medical problems. Wearing a smaller size is just the icing on the cake; a happier, healthier life is the ultimate reward.

    Go for it!

    Lori

  • Your statement sounds familiar.  I started after New Year's and its going well.  This is my first email and I just signed up and I think support is a great idea.  I really am interested in getting into better shape.  I took a couple pictures and have noticed a difference.  Stick with it because it does work.  Drink a lot of water, it filled the void.

  • Thanks for the support.  I should correct myself and say that I am on my third week.  This looked like a very good support area.  I have been solid with the work outs and nutrition plan.  The ladies have noticed the thinner face.  I am a little frustrated with my stomach.  Don't get me wrong, i see a difference but slow.  Any suggestions to help target this tough area?

  • I just started week 7 and I took pictures yesterday.  I can see a small difference in the pictures but I was overall a little disaapointed in the results.  I need some direction on were to go in the Body for Life website to download pictures.  The pictures don't seem to show the true weight loss and reduction.  I will stick with it for the 12 weeks.  I have really been solid.  I know it takes time and I understand that but with this intense program I really thought my personal differences would have been a little better after 6 weeks.

  • Hi, I'm JAM. I just started April 1st. It's nice to hear from another newbie. I will support you as we press forward to Champions as much as possible. Remember some of the wt difference is water, some is do to building muscle which weighs more than "fat". Sometimes you loose inches, sometimes just fat. Stand Firm till the end to see the real sucess. Before and After is always different if you do the challange correctly. You want to lose fat, gain muscle, learn to eat healthier foods and train effectively on workouts to bring forth the Champions you are inside. Lead the way so your family and friends may choose to follow.

  • Hi, I'm JAM, It's nice to hear from another newbie. I will support you for we all can help each other. I understand the need for sweets. I found in 3 days if I have a smoothie consisting of 1 scoop of myophex powder, 1 serving of yogurt (I have mine with fruit), 1 gel capsules of Flaxseed oil, 6-8 cubes of ice, 3/4 c water and some fruit. Blend it together and it makes a nice smoothie that keeps the withdrawls away. I did it this am before my exercising and found that I performed my exercise program better without as much soreness. It was a great encouragement for me.
