Starting Jan 17th, 2011, Care to Join Me?

  • I started the challenge this morning.   Had a killer workout on the rowing machine followed by a whole wheat tortilla, 3 egg whites + 1 whole egg, tons of water and a clementine.    Took my pictures and measurements last night.   Very excited to finally be doing this!

  • Hi all

I am starting the challenge on the 17th as well.  It will be my 2nd challenge.  I went through th 1st challenge with BobbyA and tried the 2nd soon after put unfortunately fell ill for over 2 months and then the docs forbade me from doing anything until now.  Well here goes again.  Must say I love this programme and the results it giives, so will be there all the way through.

I find as well that the threads help especially when you are having a not so good day, the encouragement keeps you going.

Looking forward to getting to know you all better over the next 3 months or so.

  • Hello everybody,

Today is the final day, day 84 of my last challenge before I start this next one with you all.  I forgot to pick up camera stand so the pictures will have to wait for a day or two but on this first challenge I dropped 24.5 lbs of fat, packed on 4.5 lbs of muscle for scale change of 20 lbs.  I went from 211.8 lbs 25.16% body fat to 191.8 lbs 14.99% body fat.  This according to the Live Strong Body Fat Calculator.  Additioally I lost 5.75 inches off my waist and I'm back in the healthy body fat percentile.

I should mention also, that I screwed up a lot.  I fell off the wagon more than once and had my bad days.  My results obviously could have been better had I not made those mistakes but I would just like to say this:

The people who make it to the end of this challenge are not perfect people.  Rather they were the one's who failed and got back up.  By the fourth week, you will have all fallen off the wagon in some way, big or small.  The day you screw up the diet or the plan is not the day a champion is lost, it is the day a champion is made.  It is easy to keep working out and dieting when you feel pride but in the aftermath of a mistake too many challengers are lost.  It is in that moment when you decide that nothing will keep you from finishing and not now, when you think nothing will keep you from starting, that you become a true champion.

    Anyway, that's my two cents....

To Orrin I would just say, I love getting advice....bring it on.  I hope to hear more from you.

    Thanks,

    Brian

  • I'm starting on Monday the 10th as well with bathing suit season in mind. :)   Can't wait. Good luck everyone!

  • I'll be starting on the 17th with ya Brian!  I'd love to be a part of your group.  Here goes... :)

  • count me in for this

  • Awesome!  I'm excited to see how everyone does.  I start tomorrow...

  • If there is room for one more, I would like to be part of this group.

    My name is Seth,

I took the challenge in 2001 and did very well, I did not finish it, as life threw me for a loop, my wife then filed for divorce, the xp threw me off and I never finished the challenge. Over the years I have put on alott of weight. I am back now 10 years later to finish what I started so many years ago, I tried it on my own last time and now older wiser (lol) I know support groups are very helpful.  So if you all dont mind having one more?

Thanks and good luck to everyone who is moving in a positive direction in taking care of themselves.

  • More people are always welcome.....the more the merrier.  Today is just the first day for the preliminary group that wanted to start a week early but for the rest of us it won't start till the 17th.  On a side note, I just finished my first callenge yesterday and just took photos this morning.  They're posted to my profile if anyone wants to see.  Just click on the little icon with my picture.  Anyhow, best of luck to those starting today....push for those 10s.

    Thanks,

    Brian

  • Brian...I have heard that there is a journal on here somewhere to track progress and it looks like you found it.

Could you help me locate it?  I started my challenge on 1-3-11 and finished week one yesterday.

  • Really strange how yesterday I was starving all day and today I feel very full.   Yesterday was a day off from work and today is a work day.   I guess I'm busier today and no time to think.   I also added some veggies to my breakfast burrito today.

  • Today is Day 1 for me.  Today at lunch I realized just how horrible I've been eating.  By noon my usual day would have already had a Starbucks, (Salted Caramel Mocha), chocolate or cookies, and no water or veggies at all.  Being 'aware' is the first step for me.  I really want to do this.

Although I was intimidated at the gym today, i remembered my 'why' and finished my workout.  I didn't quit.  I got up and actually went.  I can do this as long as I take it one day at a time, one meal at a time, one workout at a time.  :)

  • Cajunbluez,

sadly if your talking about the journaling in my profile that's all bitmap images.  I just drew it all on my own.  However, that being said the companion book: "Success Journal Body for Life by Bill Phillips" does have all the journal entries and I completed that.  The bitmap is just a reflection.  I picked up my copy of that book at borders.

    Hope that helps,

    Brian

  • Great pics Brian! Congrats to successfully completing your first challenge; hope you're now enjoying your week of active rest :)

  • Yea  A journal would be great
