Hey everyone!! First day done!!! Let's just continue with this thread if possible cause I'm afraid I won't find you if you move!!!! Anyhow, I wish they would post newest first also but it is what it is.....
Hi All, ok... first day down and almost done! I did my work out and all went well... the hard part for me today was the food... I did plan my meals last night and had the right food in the house. I did stick to the eating program however; I just got sooooo hungry during the day... I think b/c I waited too long in between a few of my meals. I work for myself and I work from home most hours so this is good and bad... b/c I have loose structure and i'm a snacker... not anymore!! :)... I did really great in the morning b/c I'm not as hungry in the morning but as the day goes on I get starving and I am a night eater.... I haven't cheated and don't plan to but I am struggling... however; I am more comitted than not. I think one stratedgy will be to go to bed earlier than normal and that would be a good habbit to get into as well. Oh well. I feel very good about my first day and I look forward to the cardio tomorrow. Blessings to All!! I say we just stay with this thread as well b/c I couldn't seem to find the Philmont.... I found this one first... Also, when you reply... do you need to go to the last reply or can I just go to the first one??
You can reply to the last one. It doesn't really matter.
Day one is completed for me. Only got in five meals instead of six. Didn't get up til 10AM (lazy college kid haha). Did my upper body workout (nothing new as I've done the exercise plan before) and feel sore seeing that I haven't worked out in two weeks due to thanksgiving and general laziness.
I'll join the group, too, as a 47 yr old geezer. Are we really geezers? Not for long!
My 12 yr old son just told me he'd like to start lifting weights & we wrote up a BFL workout plan for tomorrow. Don't know how he'll take to it-don't want to over work a young body, but it'll be nice just having him working out with me.
Just started this a week before Thanksgiving & then traveled...we'll be traveling again in December. Even though I couldn't do all the workouts, I could find 20 minutes for aerobics & eat well. One of my favorite meals is an apple with 2 cheese sticks. I keep these handy, so that if my schedule goes awry I can just grab & go with the flow (& the bumps) & have my appetite satisfied & my body fed well.
Morning all.....what a cold, windy morning where I am. Hard to get going when the weather is like this, but I'm determined to stick with it.
Has anyone ever worked out at night and seen good results?
Hey all....good news! I am following the BFL Coffee Crew thread also. They are very knowledgable and have been on the website since back when it was the old Guestbook.
Just found out how to sort the posts so the newest are first.
UP IN THE RIGHT HAND CORNER under settings, there is a tab called site options. The drop down menu says ascending. Change it to descending and the newest posts will appear first!
Woo hoo!!
Boomerangmama, welcome! You should check with your child's pediatrician before letting him lift weights as it is generally not recommended for youths below the age of 15-16 and can actually stunt their growth. Its a great thing to get your kid thinking about nutrition and daily exercise but just be careful there...
Day 2 workout fantastic. I flopped my cardio to M-W-F and am lifting T-Th-S from the start because the cardio workouts are shorter and easier for me to get done during the week. Today arms are stiff -- had a hard time shaving --- so I know I pushed myself. Doing good on food. Turkey from thanksgiving is still tasty even without the gravy. Last nite, a protein shake w/ice in the blender right at the time I was feeling my "snackies" filled me up for the rest of the evening.
Made a decision not to step on the scale for the duration of the program. I know what I look like in the mirror and that's where I want to see the change. I'm not going to fight the day in day out stress of weight fluctuation. I guess its like a long term view of the stock market vs. day trading....
MereJ- Thanks for the tip!!! So much better now!
I have kind of tweaked my workout a little too. I think I am going to have a day off during the week because right now, my knees are killing me after 2 days of cardio (jogging) and LBWO. Ugh....I'm not sure what to do about that because I know my knees are not getting better but hopefully with weight loss it will ease. I am in pain today so just gonna rest, unless I do my UBWO, we'll see..
Chip T - thanks for the advice the other day on workouts! I dont like the scale either but will weigh in Sat but then will wait two weeks after. Last time I did this, I weighed in the second week and lost a pound and was discouraged because of all the hard work I had put into it, so I completely let go and went back to eating whatever I wanted....fingers crossed this time. Happy Tuesday from a little chilly CA!
Thanks MereJ... I just did what you said and now I have last post first!! thank you!!
Boomerangamamma, I have a 12 year old son as well and he is very interested in health these days due to health class at school.. He actually thinks he knows it all... imagine that a 12 yr old thinking they know it all :) Well he is doing Hapkido Marshall arts and he is 'coaching' me throught the BFL... I agree w. Chip about I have heard that lifiting weights for youths may not be good and check with your peditrician as well.... my son will do the cardio with me. I will do the 3 days weights and 3 days cardio HIit and I also incorporate 2 days of Tao Bo... only b/c I started it in August, I love it and it is at the same time my son does his Hapkido and I have already paid for it. He actually took my before pics and hopefully he will stay interested in the process. I believe leading by example for him is a great thing. Good luck with BFL and I look forward to keeping in touch and encourage and motivated wiht this thered!!
Sounds familiar...I'm 45 yrs. old, and WAS 45 lbs. overweight 2 months ago. I've lost 22 lbs. since and plan to lose another 2-25 lbs. Next summer I will be hiking the Grand Tetons....the first panned hike is to Ampitheatre Lake - a 3,000 foot elevation climb over 4.8 miles. The second hike is more gradual...to Lake Solitude over the Continental Divide above 10,000 feet.
There is no way I could this weighing 219 lbs.......I plan on doing it at 170 lbs. Good luck...sounds like a great goal to keep you going.
I had a great day. It's day 2 and I hopped on my tredmill and started running again. I really pushed myself on the highpoint. I have a long way to go to get back into shape, but I know I'm going to get there with the help of you guys! I'm so glad I'm in this group! Thank you~ One of my best friends came over today to take the "before" pic of me. I was so traumatized that I start to laugh hysterically! It can only get better from here! What a motivating picture:) When I hit my goal, I will definiately post it too! Have a great day 3 everyone! Legs for me tomorrow.

Hey all, thanks for the heads up on strength training for youngsters. So, I researched it a little. Here is a website I found: www.protraineronline.com/.../children.cfm You are right & wrong... the basics of the article say the right amount at the right time. So, the BFL workout style is not the best for a prepubescent person, but weight training of 10-12 reps of moderate weight with 1-3 sets is just fine. This has made be rethink what I had him do today, but he did well. Onward & upward we go-I was right, though, it was nice having a workout partner!
