Good afternoon Warriors for Life!
Well I saw the champions ... good for them. I was a little bummed; can't help it, I really wanted to win. However, if I were on the panel.. I would have selected that guy over me too!
Now that the pity party is over, back to work. I had a nice UBWO on Monday & a good elliptical session yesterday at home. The whole county is S/D in Southern Illinois with all the rain, ice, and snow. NO school now for 2 days. Snow continues & it is suppossed to get really cold tonight. I couldn't get to the gym this AM but hopefully will after work.. if the wife lets me... she is really bored & tired of being stuck at home with the 3 crazy kiddos!!
BDMom - Thanks for the FYI on your 5k. I think I will start hitting the roads again either next week or the following depending on the weather (I can't run on icy roads). I am not sure on the pics question you asked earlier. I pretty much look the same, sans a little more toner, but not the major changes like I had in C-1. Ofcourse, I started alot better in C-2 than C-1, so I was able to sustain & gain a little weight (5#) and muscle in C-2.
Cuervo - Keep rocking brother... Way to keep things interesting.
2C- Your awesome. I dread the lower body workouts the same as you do cardio. However, I do dread my 10 on cardio - it makes me feel like I am going to blow a lung! Keep up the great work!
Everyone else - I gotta run, but stay safe & maintain the course - less than 2 weeks to go!
The last several days have been one of those “life happens when you have plans” weeks!
Great treadmill HIIT & abs this AM. I’m still trying to catch my breath.
BDMom … I looked at the Sole F80 at Dicks Sporting Goods for $1,499. I also looked at the NordicTrack C900 at Sears for $999. I’m leaning toward the Nordic. Specs are very similar but reviews indicate that the deck on the Nordic has more cushioning. After hurting my knee several weeks ago that cushioning is important to me. Plus being $500 less expensive is a good thing also!!
I hope all of you “Warriors for Life” have a great day ….. do all you can do …. honk honk!!
"Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired."~Jules Renard~
Good morning everyone,
I have been really focused this past week or so and things are going great. My weight is down to Pre C2 Levels, my waist is slightly smaller and my clothes are getting ridiculously loose. I am not really sure about pics either. I might take them just to chronicle my journey, but there is really no big changes to speak of beyond maintaining my successes from C1. I guess this has turned out to be a maintenance challenge for me to prove to myself that I could keep going and not revert back like in the past. I intend to continue on forever, so I am heading in the right direction.
Staats-You are a champion regardless of whether or not you won the "challenge". The gift you are giving yourself in health is hundreds of time more valuable than the prizes awarded. In the end, the money will be gone, but your health will lead you through a long and happy life. You can't put a value on that. I am honored to have shared this journey along side you, and hope to continue on for many years to come. I might not have said it, but you are an inspiration to me. Juggling life, family, a job, workouts, and all of the other things that pop up in our daily life is hard. You have your priorities in order and have proven what can be accomplished when you set out to do something. I only hope to get into your shape sometime in the future. Keep on rockin my brother in "arms".
Everyone else, give it all you have. Have a great day.
My workout was through the roof this morning...actually through the ground might be better! I was doing deadlifts and felt like a Warrior!!! I was just zoned in I guess.
No snow and it's not all that cold in south GA this week. I finally wore pants to the garage/gym this morning, but was in short sleeve shirt after the first couple of sets. Otherwise I have been working out in shorts this week. I'm glad for it, because working out in the teens in no fun...I don't care what you say - LOL!
Cuervo - I think we talked about this earlier, but I will take pics just to document my journey. I plan to post them up for a little additional accountability too. I will tell you this...when we worked out a few weeks back you were looking beastly to me. Your upper body - arms/shoulders especially are headed towards being freaky!!!
Staats - Cuervo is right...the rest of us men are on your coat tail as far as getting to your shape and level of conditioning. Keep the bar high for those of us that are following you!
GPH - Yes, life does happen. We have to take it in stride and move forward!
Alright - we need the ladies to check in and help keep us on page 1!!! I hope you all have a great day. I'm praying you northerners are not too stuck or snowed in! Be safe!
Good Morning fellow Warriors for Life!
First thing is first - Cuervo & PB - Thanks for the kind words. Cuervo - you are absolutely correct. A long healthy Christ led life is what I strive for. My dad passed away when I was younger (5), so I relish the opportunity to see my boys graduate & meet my grand kids some day. That is what Body for Life is all about. Making healthy choices & working hard to achieve the ability to truly live life with out physical boundaries. Thank you both again - what is funny, is that you both also inspire me. You both offer lots of wisdom on things that I sometimes cannot put into words. I have truly enjoyed our daily chats / posts & we will have to have another after C-2 next week. I still like the Warriors for Life thread but I will follow you all whatever we decide to name the thread.
Now, last night was a blast. Momma needed a break from the kiddos so I put in a P90X Legs work out & all of us did it. It was a blast watching the boys do wall sits & lunges with me! They definitely felt the burn & even hit muscle failure a few times! My pain was compounded by the fact that I held the 2 year old while doing most of the workout..... it was a good time. The old man showed them how to work through pain through some breathing exercises. It was truly memorable!
This morning's cardio was great. I matched my personal best. Had I read your all's response before I went to the gym I would have shot for a new PB instead of matching it. Probably a good thing, because my legs are burning from P90X.
The weather here is now just blistering cold - no freezing rain or snow. However, we are truly blessed because we have power. Most of the county is without it. Matter of factly, half my workforce is running their homes on generators; something I may invest into this summer.
PB - Way to knock out those workouts. Sometimes I struggle because I am still waking up at 5 AM while working out & don't get truly motivated until the end.
GPH - Keep at it brother. You are doing the best with you situation... we can ask no more of you.
Ladies - Let's go... where are you all at!!!!
Everyone else - The finish line is approaching, let's pick up the pace.
Good Morning Guys!! Lady 2C present and accounted for. Great messages this morning! My workout today was a killer and I am feeling the need for free day. This morning I decided to have a bigger breakfast to boost my day (2 boiled eggs, 2 slices of wheat bread and a bit of granola and raisins). Way too many carbs but as I am measuring my ratios, I am very low on carbs lately (~15-20%) so I need the energy.
Staats, you are our Warrior champion and you family's role model! What you are showing your kids (workouts, determination and love) will certainly have the biggest impact in their lives. You are just cool!
PB~ Awesome job man. I wish it would get warmer here too. It was in teens this morning so I ventured to the barn with all my winter gear. You are very right, NOT FUN!! I cant wait to workout in shorts again...
Cuervo, we can be very tough on ourselves. I am sure you are ripped!! I really believe that the maintenance time is the hardest. We need to aim at staying in it for life and you are on that track! This is also for me to remember all the time as I tend to be my worst critic.
GP, I cant wait to join you on shopping for a treadmill. I was thinking of getting one used since soon enough people will be selling stuff they never used while breaking their new year's resolution. Might get a nice one lightly used for a good price!
Brick, SusanC, hope your weather is better! What a mess...
BDmom, how was your training??
Enjoy the day!
Good Morning everyone:
I am already starting to feel a little sore from my workout yesterday with my trainer. I am going to love the variety of working out with someone and not knowing what I am doing until I get there. His training technique is something like this - triset different body parts 3x, and then move on to other body parts and do it again. It was a cycle of 3 trisets x3. For example, one of the sets had me doing lunges on the smith, and then moved right on to box jumps and then right on to abs. Then start over. One of the trisets included some kickboxing moves which I really enjoyed. If I do this full body workout on Wed, and then do an intense UBWO on Mon or Fri and then an intense LBWO on the remaining day, I think it will be a good change up. Just finished my HIIT about an hour ago, and now finishing up some protein pancakes with some PB@2 drizzled on them and some cinnamon with truvia, plus some banana slices and fresh blueberries...yum!! I baked cookies all day yesterday (about 60 of them), and today will be cookie decorating day. I am making cookies for my daughter's superbowl party. I made jerseys and footballs.
2C: I always eat a large BF; it just seems to work well for me and get me off on the right foot. I have been reading a lot lately about BF not only being the most important meal of the day, but should also be the largest. I am pretty much keeping my carb/protein/fat ration @ 40/40/20. If I drop carbs too much, I'll lose too much. I am right at 113# right now, and not sure I want to go too much lower. 112# felt good, but 109 # felt too low. It's such a game!!
Staats: I was thinking about what to say to you about the competiton, but Cuervo said it so beautifully that I will just say ditto. As humans, we have that fuel and desire to win. You and I didn't have as much to lose as some of those other people, so even though our changes were noticeable, we didn't have the dramatic losses that some did...guess I should have pushed my stomach out in that before pic (ha). We are winners, nonetheless. Now, that family workout sounds like fun.
Parson: sounds like a great workout. My heater was on this morning when I was on the treadmill. Temps were 23 degrees out this moring, which is frigid for us desert dwellers. Gonna be back into low - mid 70's next week.
Cuervo: I think instead of a maintenance challenge for you, it was a life changing, learning challenge for you. You made some decisions which will likely impact you in a positive manner in the weeks, months & years ahead. You seem to be in such a happy place now that you have eliminated all the guesswork, and settled back to the basics.
Grandpa: Don't know too much about the Sole treadmills, but I do love my Nordic. Plus you can get that ifit program to go with it, and it has endless opportunities for you.
Have a fabulous day, all.
"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"
BDMom - Great to hear your workout was killer. That variety might be just what you needed. Sounds like you had fun. Regarding me, you are exactly right. I have found my happy place!!! I look forward to working out, I actually stress a little when I hit traffic on the way home or something comes up that might keep me from working out. That is my time for me and I look forward to it. I dont answer the phone, or the door. I crank up my music and have a blast. I have much more to learn, but i have learned so much over the past months about myself, life, etc that it is sometime overwhelming.
2c- The larger breakfast wont hurt you at all. if anything, you will have a little more spring in your step and fuel for the day. Keep up the good work.
GP- Good luck in finding the treadmill that fits you best. I have always wanted one myself. Maybe that could be a present to myself after I complete a solid year of BFL.
Everyone else - lets leave it all on the line today, we can worry about everything else later. Make today for you.
Really great LBWO this AM!! I think I am finally getting my mind into this & pushing beyond what I thought were my physical limits. I added another 5 lbs to all sets on leg press & calf raises. Also added 10 steps to walking lunges.
Cuervo … you have earned the treadmill!! You deserve it!! Start shopping!!
BDMom … doesn’t it feel great to get that little sore feeling from time to time? It lets us know we are doing something right!! BTW, that is a good point about the ifit program for the Nordic. I’m a real techy kind of guy so that feature of the Nordic is very attractive to me.
2conquer … yep as soon as the weather breaks & yard sales start popping up, dusty almost new treadmills will be up for grabs!!
Staats … it is great that you are getting your kids involved!! In addition to strengthening them physically, it will create an even stronger bond between them & you. You are a fantastic dad!! BTW, I'm still thanking you for putting me onto walking lunges!!
Parson … you are right about moving on. The “hills” in life make us stronger when we climb them!
lbwo last night and 4:15 cardio this morning. The train is rolling now!!
Grandpa- Glad to hear you are increasing the weights. The knee must be doing good. Makes you feel good to go beyond you previous weights. Congrats.
Ok everyone, this is our Body for Life right? Who is up for 1 week of AR and then 12 more weeks of structured workouts? Let me hear from ya. Any other ideas will be great. Maybe just the Warriors for life thread would be a continual place to report in and keep pushing everyone. Let me know what you all think.
Have a great day.
I am swamped today, but I wanted to check in. Make it count today and this weekend!
Cuervo - Sign me up!! It has never been a question for me as to whether or not I would do another 12-week cycle. You are right, it is Body for Life!!
I was hoping that someone would suggest one week of AR. I think two weeks would be too much down time for me. I like the idea of a “Warriors for Life” thread that we can use from cycle to cycle to stay in touch & motivate each other & ourselves. I know that being a part of this group has made a huge difference for me. I admire & respect each one of you!!
Good Morning "Warriors for Life"!
Wow, what an awesome UBWO I had this morning. This morning, I don't know why, I just nailed the workout. I was wide awake & really motivated. I had went up in weights on all the exercises from Monday & I still failed to hit a 10! I will go up again next time & continue to focus on form & breathing.
My legs are still sore from Wed's P90X family workout & I am guessing my upper body will be sore tomorrow. Its a good sore so no issues there.
GPH - Outstanding job pushing beyond your physical limits. Are bodies are truly amazing - especially when feeding & conditioning them properly.
Cuervo - I am totally up for you on 12 more weeks. I plan on staying the course on meal planning discipline & BFL weight workouts, I am taking cardio to the next level & will be training for a half marathon with a goal of competing in races - I will be shooting for challenging times and paces. A Warriors for Life thread would be perfect for our group. I also think I am now going to take pics & post on post on my profile for accountability!
2C - I think you are dead on concerning breakfast. I agree with Cuervo, I think that you will really benefit from it.
BDMom - I totally agree on you with our pre C-1 body conditions & bottom line - we are all champions. We had a goal, stayed committed, and the changes were both phyisical and mental improvements. I would change nothing except maybe have joined this awesome group of people earlier!
Parson - Keep on rocking brother.
Everyone else - stay the course & stay focused. Only a week to go. Have a great and blessed day!
Good Morning Dear Warriors!!
Another workout in the bag! I did a great biceps workout, that is a focus area for me since I want those biceps to show! Also did 20 mins of low intensity workout and tomorrow will be HIIT.
Cuervo, I am certainly in for the Warriors Thread. I would like to have a place to meet you all and keep myself accountable and motivated to reach my 1 year goal by May. Almost there. I started in a different cycle and go into April before I take the week or 2 off. But, I will be in the thread despite where I may be.
GP, great job on raising the weights. Progress....
PB, Busy makes the day go by fast. Weekend is almost here for some RR.
Staats, I needed some of what you ate yesterday that got you up so energetic! I am running low since I had to have lots of hours studying with my son for today's tests.
BDMom, the workout with the trainer sounds really awesome. I bet it was fun to push yourself like that. Keep up the good work as always. Your my hero! I am adjusting every so slightly but definitely I need more carbs.
Brick, SusanC, where are you??? Have you dug out of the snow yet?
Have a great Friday!
Good afternoon Warriors:
I am all for the Warriors for Life thread, since I may never be on the same page with you all on another challenge. I am just in week six of my C2, but want to stay with you all no matter where we are in our own challenges. It wouldn't be the same without all of your support, ideas, knowledge & daily affirmations. Can you feel the love?? We feed off one another and I think we would be a little lost without the continual support we know we have here.
2C: You inspire me as well. So glad we've been able to work together and communicate on such a personal level about our goals and share our experiences, setbacks and victories.
Staats: Staying committed and true to ourselves is what is really important...you are so right. So glad to have shared this experience with you.
Grandpa: You would love the ifit. It is such a great feature. As far as a little sore, I do like that, and I get that often from my own workouts, but this is more than a little sore, this is the kinda sore that once you sit down, you can't get back up. My quads were even hurting when I was trying to sleep. My trainer said to get used to it, since it will always be that way after I work out with him. I am excited to see what kinda progress I will make.
OK, so I went to my yucky old gym this morning and ask them to cancel my membership. I am going to try my week at Gold's next week, but think you need to commit there to a membership, and I really don't want to do that. I will then try another gym the next week that is a month-to-month membership with no strings attached. I have convinced myself that change is good, and once I get settled in somewhere, it is going to bring positive changes for me.
My eating has been pretty good today, with the exception of a dark chocolate caramel; it jumped into my mouth before I could tell it no. The rest of the day will be good....promise Staats!
Hugs to you all!
