OK...I started the challenge in June....got through about week 6/7 and then fell back into my bad habits. This time I have some friends from work who are also interested (and serious) about exercising so I'm hoping the additional accountability will be helpful! We've blocked the time on our calendars each day (granted there will be meetings that will occasionally get in the way - but the time is scheduled...and we're committed). Our calendar entry is BSB (Bringing Sexy Back) ... a good way to start 2011!
A little about me: I'm 36 - a mom of 2 (a 3 year old and an almost 2 year old) - I have a wonderful husband - I work full time and have been finding it challenging to balance everything. I also realized I have a tendency to not take very good care of myself (poor nutrition, inconsistent with exercise - either all or nothing, lack of sleep, etc.)
I'm disappointed in myself because I've just been "surviving" life vs. really living and 'thriving', as Bill puts it in his book. I'm ready to get back in the drivers seat of my life and take control!
Anyone looking for others to check-in with throughout the challenge?
We can do this!
E
I started just today too! My friend and I are both doing it. I haven't bought the book yet because it seems like a lot of the information is on this website. Do you suggest buying the book?
Without a doubt - buy the book. Information can be very misleading on this site and to have your own book for reference is key to your success.
If not, I recommend getting more than one opinion with your questions.
Best of success to you lhutchin33.
Hey all,
Some of us have already started a group if you'd care to join. Our thread is:
Direction Determines Destination - November 15 group
Hi tenacious_e - I am also starting today. We have a few things in common. Like you, I started my first challenge in May and only got through week 6 or 7 as well. I also have two kids - one is 15 months and one is 7 years old. I also work full time and have a great husband who really does his share to keep our household running.
Anyway, I love the way this program works. I just hope I can stick with it this time. This is my first post ever, so hopefully seeing my name on the forum will be added incentive for me.
Buy the book use the site to expand it. Its a fast read and extrermly motivating.
I started today also! Im excited and hope I can complete the program and see the results that Im looking for.
Good Luck Everyone hopefully we can keep eachother on track!
I'm starting today too! I am 32 and have four kids. I just had a baby in September and am desperate to get the baby fat off! I am also breastfeeding too. This seems like a wonderful program - I am really excited!
Hi I did the program about 4 years ago and the results were amazing....Needless to say I got off track and lazy and gained it all back. So I am back to do what I know works I started last week and can already see a difference...we can do this:) gmama
Hi everyone!
Bonwitty mentioned that there is another thread already started for those who started 11-15 called Direction Determines Destination – November 15 group – it may be helpful to have a larger group to share resources / ideas / etc. – should we retire this thread and join that one or would you like to continue with this one?
Also – we need to report out on how C1W1D1 (Challenge 1, Week 1, Day 1) went!!
I met one of my girlfriends at the gym and we did upper body together tonight– the gym was ridiculously crazy, and we were using dumbbells for a majority of our exercises…just like a few other people were trying to do – but we kept our routine going - didn't get intimidated by those who looked like they always workout. It was SO helpful to have printed the training guide so we had something to follow and were purposeful in the gym rather than just bouncing around from one thing to the next. I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to move my arms tomorrow – definitely reached my 10’s! I also had a cycling class tonight – so I did get some cardio in too.
Have to share a quick story...that just happened a few minutes ago... my biggest challenge is going to be the food - I have a ridiculous sweet tooth and have been practicing EXTREME self control tonight... just when I was feeling pretty good about not needing a 'snack' - my husband turned to me and said..”I need a little something to eat…I’m going to get a cookie – want one?” I just looked at him and he instantly realized what he had just said... he apologized very quickly :-) Remember each one of our decisions takes us further or closer to our goal!!
@Ilhutchin33 – I agree with the others DEFINITELY buy the book. Bill poses a number of different questions for you to answer as well as explains a lot about the program, shares the “approved” food list for the challenge, etc. it is very inspirational.
@ LoriNC – Congrats on your first post! I posted for the first time when I started the last challenge-it is fun and motivating to check in and see what everyone is up to – and to let everyone know how you are doing! We want to know!!
@ Ssorokoty – We CAN and WILL do this! We just need to plan our days and stick to them! If we fall off, we get right back up…this is an exciting journey – and we don’t want to miss it!
@ebizaliz – Congrats on the newest addition! Take it easy and make sure you get your rest (I’m sure you are hearing that from a lot of people!) We can do this!
@gmama – Awesome! You are the veteran and can help guide us! Welcome back to BFL!
Looking forward to the interval training tomorrow! Let’s reach our 10’s everyone!!!!
K - off to bed! See you all tomorrow!

Anyone else STARVING?! I can barely concentrate because I am so hungry. I have eaten about 1200 calories today, did my cardio, and drank all of my water. What's up with that?!
I'm starting today and a bit excited and also nervous. With holidays, anniversary, and a trip to orlando all in the next 2 weeks I just don;t want to fail. Should I wait to start or start now? I feel I should start now and when I fall off get right back on the next day.
