  • Morning Warriors and Happy Friday!

LBWO is done.  I really like my new belt.  I've been missing out on all the fun without one.  Cuervo said it best...it's like it adds confidence to your lift and secures you.  I bet it adds 20# at least to a 1RM?  I gained a couple of reps on my last set this AM with no problems.  One benefit I saw is that the support on the heavy main lift...gave me "extra" in the tank when I got to my accessory lifts for the workout.  So it was a big help.

We are counting this week as a no change week on the scale...i was down 2 days ago, but up a bit this morning.  But the pants feel better and I'm down a notch on the belt so something is changing.

Wendy is out of town this weekend for a training conference.  So I am doing Mr. Mom this weekend.  Tonight we are going to watch Bambi on Disney...should be a fun weekend!

    Have a great day Warriors!

  • Hey everyone!

Thanks for the kind words of encourgement.  It is a big help to know you all have my back.  The family leaves sunday morning.  I am proud of myself that the workouts have all been done so far, and that my eating has not been out of control.  I just want things to get back to normal.  Isnt that funny? I want to get back to eating less, more healthy food? Lol, never would have said that before the challenge!

  • Good FRIDAY Morning!!!!

I am leaving in a bit for another appt. with my derm; my face is almost all cleared up....YAY!  Hopefully, I can stop using the topical antibiotic she gave me.  I have to run by Trader Joes (one of my favorite grocers here), and then will go workout; I will be doing a LBWO today.  Once I pick up kids from school, we are meeting our friend for dinner at Red Robin.  Glad it is the weekend!

Miss Understood:  Glad you will be back to your normal routine after Sunday.  How many more weeks do you have in your current challenge?  I have 5 after this week, and intend to make them the best!!

Parson:  Sounds like a great weekend planned with the kids; you can't go wrong with Bambi...except....well, you know...  The name of the restaurant we are going to is called Whiskey River; it is new to the area, and really....I couldn't find anything remotely healthy on their menu.  Maybe I can just ask them to customize something for me....grilled chicken breast, sweet potato, salad.....They do have pulled chicken and pork, but I won't go there....Glad you are enjoying your new belt, and that it will help you reach new levels!

Island:  Thanks for the video; it is always nice to remember why we do what we do, and why people are who they are.  Hope all is going well for you.  Way to keep up those workouts!

I better go get stuff done, so I can get out of here!

    Have a wonderful weekend!!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Hi Warriors!!! Happy Friday!

Miss: I am so happy for you. You have the right attitude, the mentality of a WARRIOR!!! Don't you love it that you want to eat less, and eat healthy? That's what it's all about. Your body knows what you need. I am sorry that your family can't be supportive. I know many of us go through the same thing. I went on 2 vacations this summer with my family, and I went through the same thing. My dad thinks I am "too skinny" and just doesn't get that I am living this lifestyle to be healthy and to feel good. As soon as I see my dad, he starts shoving food in my face and telling me to eat more. I have had to learn to stand up to him, and tell him that I eat this way (and workout this way....b/c he has something to say about that too!) because of my health. I love my family, but I also have to do what is best for me. Keep up the good work...things will get back to "normal" very soon :) :)

Parson: Glad you like your new weight belt! I love getting new fitness equipment!!! Glad your pants are fitting better....that's most important! Have a great weekend playing Mr. Mom!!! Keep the tissue close for Bambi!

Island: Thank you always for your posts. I couldn't open the you tube, but I'm going to search for it and watch it. Your progress is amazing and hard-earned....don't let anyone bring you down!!!! I went to lunch with some friends from work yesterday and one of them had just returned from Hawaii....I was so jealous! She described it as "Paradise....day after day!" Of course I thought about you and smiled :)

BDMom: I am starting Rachel Cosgrove's program on Monday. I know it is the middle of a challenge, but I am so ADD about my workouts....I can't focus on one thing for too long without getting bored! Even though her program is 16 weeks, she changes everything up (even nutrition) every 4 weeks so it will keep me guessing! One of my friends from Texas is doing it with me, so we will keep each other accountable, even if it's long distance! I'm sure you are excited about your classes starting next week! I hope your foot is continuing to heal. I am so sorry you have to go through this....but trust me, it will get better!!!! Hang in there!

Claude: You are so funny.....our family is definitely complete! I will just have to settle being the only female, well, except for our 2 great danes!!!! I know that God gave me 2 boys to see if I could keep up....ha! Good thing I'm not a "girlie girl"!

I had a great workout this morning. I started off with a round of Tabatas, and then Mickey and his friend (a football teammate has been coming over to train with us several mornings this week) wanted me to warm them up before their drill/skill session with Mike. So, I led them through another round of Tabatas.... they loved it! They loved trying to keep up with me for the entire 8 minutes! Then, I went downstairs and did my LBWO. I killed it this morning! Tomorrow is cardio day for me. I plan to do sprints at the track since the kids have football practice bright and early.

As I mentioned to Island, I went out to lunch with co-workers yesterday to have a social hour before we head back to work next week. I am still amazed at how people eat, and the choices they make! I was able to get a salad with grilled salmon with balsamic vinegar. However, everyone else had something fried or pizza and didn't seem to give a thought about it. Then they topped it off with huge pieces of cake with tons of icing! When I turned down the cake, no one said a word b/c they just know how I am...they know better than to even try to comment about my eating habits. After almost 2 years of eating lunch with me, they know my habits. Then many made comments how they have tried to work out this summer, but something always got in the way. I just keep my mouth shut or else I would start preaching!!!

Okay, Warriors, let's keep it clean this weekend!!!! Keep moving forward....don't let poor choices ruin any progress you have made thus far!!!! Have a super weekend!

  • Hey All,

    Parson,

Glad to hear the belt is a welcome addition to your power lifting.  The belt is the true measure of success. I'm down 2 notches this week weigh in is Sat for me. It's always great hanging with the kids. Keep killing it buddy.

    Miss,

Good to hear your'e not letting the family get in the way of your progress. My new snack is a small bowl of raw almonds and a peach or some other fruit. Usually around 8:30 - 9 pm. Seems to get my mind off all that other junk food.

    BD,

I got Linda to tape my foot with atheletic tape at work seems to help. How's the splint working for you. I'm on a waiting list for the King Brand  Product I sent you. So looking at other alternatives.

Accountability : Missed my wo sort of. Was too busy to get to the gym and looks like early am is the way to go next week. Took the girls for a 2 hr. trail walk same walk but it's taking me longer now. Mocha is baccckkk! to normal now. I think we may be over feeding her a bit but she is regulating how much she eats. Sometimes she eat all her food and sometimes not. Might try and od the wo I missed last night at the gym at work. Will be doing it in jeans and a T shirt new fashion statement. Tomorrow is KB will need to rest up for that I get excited just thinking about it ha!

Island, runner, Cuervo, and anyone I have missed Keep killing those wo's like I  know you are.

    Have a great weekend !

    Claude

  • BD & Runner we posted at the same time ha! Got to go and do my wo I missed last night. Later left my phone at home will do mfp tomorrow.

  • Good wiorkout day Fellow Warriors,  Sorry I haven't posted this week but I have been on a sort of Staycation to honor my wife and I's 28th year together. In fact I was really bad on Wednesday the 15th for eating that day and will treat it as a Free day in my program this week . (Had cake, gyros w fries and ice cream, rum rasin and maple walnut that day but for the 28th year it was appropriate to celebrate the day) Still we did go to the beach and swim and boogey board with the daughter and grandkids so there was some pt activity that day to help out.     BDMOM: Glad to hear that Delaney and the kids are adjusting to school. Hope your foot is getting better too.     Parsons: Great on those workouts reps and weights. And a wise decision to get a weight belt to help you out.  I have used my Weider wide belt since working with free weights in order to fend off back problems and provide support and I really don't care what others say on this subject or how it looks to them, It's my health and workouts that count in the gym when I'm on a program.  Hang in there on this one, are you using gloves too?     Runnermom: Best wishes on all your runs , especially with thekidss.  And don't worry about the small stuff in the way. Hurdle over it.   By the way, Why did the USA do so badly in the Olympic marathon running when we have so many runner here in the USA? do we not train properly or take it serious enough? 10 and 11 th in the WOmens in London was not to be bragged about in any way when running has such attention and focus here.   CUervo:  Keep on Moving forward and you know we are all behind ya.      Islandude: Congrats on the possible job offer, hope that pans out for you over there. (Book em Dan) if you get a class goin!!  How do you say Good Luck in Hawaiian?? Sorry but I couldn't pull up the video above somehow, must have waited too long to view it.    The physical  aspects of the new Batman film were outstanding, If you haven't seen  The Dark Knight Rises, you are in for a  surprise with the climbing in the prison scene for the Batman. Wow, quite a film that one.   Well got to cut it here for now, we're planning to visit EPCOT today and I may just have to count walking as my aerobic activity for today, back to the regular program tommorrow and the rest of this week. Still taking my supplements and vitamins and drinking lots of water though.. Keep Moving Forward to everyone and anyone I missed this time and oh, Missunderstood:  I hope the company will leave you alone on your new way of eating, just politely tell them NO.  I did this after a wedding during my program and my niece was very impressed that evening when I passed on the dessert at a later outing.

  • I'm nominating WPBill as the Warrior of the day for celebrating 28yrs of marriage!

Way to go!  Enjoy EPCOT today...

  • Hi there,

I have created a support group on Facebook called Body for Lifers!

I have just started the Body For Life program (8/15/12) and know I need an easily accessible support group. I would really like to have a forum where questions can be answered, encouragement given, progress celebrated and ideas generated. I know that over the next 12 weeks it will be easy to get stuck in a rut either with eating or training and having a group of fellow Body for Lifers will be invaluable!

I can see you all are experts at this and I would love to have you as part of the group!

    Come join us!

    Laura

  • Hey gang,

Just checking in to see how all of you are doing. I am still kicking tail. I have changed my workouts up to give myself a different challenge. I must admit the new routine is not nearly as intense as what I was doing, but I think it will work me in a different way. I will give it about 4 weeks and then change up again.

My weight is slowly going down, bodyfat is inching down, and waist is 4.25" down in 6 weeks. I will start eating more to be sure I am getting my nutrition in and not sacrificing the hard earned muscle I hopefully have gained. Jan is still motivated and kicking a$$ so things in our household are good. Work is still busy so there isnt much time.

I would like to try to check in 2-3 times a week for the support and motivation. My mind is deep into this and I like it. We will see what time allows.

Laura0917-this is the most easily accesible place to come. Any questions you may have can be answered here, why go anywhere else? The fellowship and encouragement from the fellow warriors is second to none. Feel free to stop by anytime.

Everyone else - keep kicking tail and I will try to find time for personal replies this week. You are all inspiration to me. Have a great weekend.

  • Hi Warriors! Happy Saturday!

Cuervo: Sounds like you are on a ROLL!!!! Your progress is awesome! So glad you are checking in with us...it definitely helps to post and you keep us all motivated. I am trying a new program too starting on Monday....very little cardio...it will definitely be different for me, but I am excited!!!

Laura: Welcome to BFL! I, too, like Cuervo, only have time to post here and also do My fitness pal as well....plus, I am not on Facebook. Feel free to check in us Warriors...we are a very dedicated, motivating, and knowledgable group! Good luck with your challenge!

WP: Congrats on your 28 year anniversary!!! I am so happy for you and your wife! Glad you got to celebrate! To tell you the truth, I forgot to watch the Olympic marathon! I'm not even sure how American runners finished....sound like not too well :(

BDMom: Hope you had a nice time at Red Robin. That is one of my kids' favorite restaurants....they like the unlimited french fries...so unhealthy! When I go, I always get the turkey burger on a lettuce wrap with a side salad. I know what you mean about BBQ places. There is usually nothing close to healthy on their menu, and most of the time their salads are not even worth eating! Hopefully they will make something just for you! But, hope you have fun with your Dad and that he has a great birthday. Mike and I have a date night tonight. Not sure where we are going for dinner, but I am definitely going to keep it clean!!!

Claude: Sounds like you are having some healthy snacks. I love almonds, but I really have to limit myself from going overboard with them! Get those workouts in and get back on MFP!!!!

Parson: Hope you are having a great weekend with the kids!

I had a pretty easy workout today. I ran for about 20 minutes outdoors by myself (normal pace), and then Mickey came to join me so I had to slow down my pace quite a bit. That's okay...I enjoyed spending time with him and helping him get in his workout. Both of my boys' football practices were canceled b/c we had storms last night and the fields were too messy for practice. Mickey has lost a total of 6 pounds over the past 2 1/2 weeks!!!! He has been eating clean and working out EVERY day!!! I am so proud of him! He just has to maintain his weight until next Saturday, which is the first game of the season. He is my little WARRIOR and he is determined to stay in his weight class!!!

I start back to work on Monday, so this weekend will be spent preparing meals for next week! I am determined to be prepared with my nutrition, and keep on track with my workouts. It won't be easy, but I will get it done!

    Have a great weekend Warriors!!

  • Happy Saturday Warriors!!!

I got to the gym early and did 20 minutes on the stairclimber and then did some abs before my 60 minute spin class.  This spin class is so popular, people get there an hour early to get a pass; it is maddening.  There has to be a better way.  Anyhow, after that I went to the grocery store and got the shoppig done for the week.  Feels good to get that done.  I have to run the kids out to get a few things they need for school and then laundry the rest of the day.  Britt is going to dinner and a movie with friends tonite.

runnermom:  Do the kids start back to school tomorrow as well?  I know you'll have all your meals planned and laid out for the week.  I am sure you are proud of Mickey...he is probably very proud of himself!!  That is great.  He is learning the "right" way to do things.  I hope you and your hubby have a great night out tonite.  I did end up eating a few of the girls' french fries at red robin last night.  Today hasn't been great in the food department.  I think I am letting myself get too hungry between meals.  Gotta really focus and not undo all my hard work on the weekends.  Good luck with the new plan Monday; can't wait to hear how you do.

Cuervo:  You are doing Awesome.  Just check in when you can.  We all understand.  I start school this week, so things are about to get crazy hectic for me as well.  We know you are out there getting it done, Warrior style!

Laura:  What a fantastic idea.  So glad you took the initiative to do that; I am sure you will get a lot of support.  I have a facebook page, but I am never on it.  I spend any extra time here and on myfitnesspal.com.  Acturally myfitnesspal is my facebook.  Best of luck to you on your challenge; if you feel you need any support, we are here for you.

WPBill (aka Warrior of the day):  Congratulations to you and your wife.  How Awesome is that!!!  You definately had an excuse to let loose and enjoy yourself for a day.  Not many people can say they've survivied marrage that long ;)

Claude:  The PT wrapped my foot with tape as well, and it felt good for a little while, but came off way sooner than I expected.  Hang in there, and get those workouts in.  Are you keeping that food clean this weekend??

I have decided to go see a doctor for my foot.  My husband and sister both have had issues with plantar fasciitis, as well as many friends, and they all claim that their pain has stayed in the heel region and arch, but beneath the foot.  Mine is starting to spread up near my ankle as well, and my husband said I should make sure I don't have a stress fracture.  I've been trying to do HIIT's and stuff, which probably isn't the best idea with PF, but definately not a good call if injured.  I will keep you posted.

    Have a rockin weekend!!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Warriors on page two.  That is not acceptable.

Go get it this week, Warriors!!!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Morning Warriors!

Happy Monday.  UBWO + cardio is done for the day.  PR on overhead press and incline DB BP, so that was nice!  I still have work to do on pullups...

I'm going to do my best to keep things tight this week on diet and exercise.  Gonna knock it out of the park!

My little boy starts Pre-K tomorrow...so our week is full of new things and excitement!

Have a great day Warriors!  No one can or will do it for you!  Get hungry for your goal and go after it with all you have!
