BFL Warriors

  • Good Morning Warriors!!!!

I am heading out to the dermatologist in awhile.  I had a facial last month and had a bad reaction to one of the products the aesthetician used, so I had to go to the derm and she put me on an antibiotic cream.  I have my follow-up appt today.  My face is much better, but still not back to where I want it to be.  I will then head to the gym for a LBWO, and then have to take Delaney shopping.  She has gift cards from her birthday that she is dying to spend!  I am really going to focus on being good all weekend.  They seem to be where I unravel the most.  I need to have a good weekend to bring me to the end of my six weeks.  My weight is up today; I seem to be haning on to this weight, and it won't budge.  I hate not being able to do my HIITs; I know they help so much with fat burning!!  I wore my splint last night, and had to take it off after about 3 hours; I was getting horrible cramps in my calf!!  Oh well, we will perservere.

Miss Understood:  HIGH FIVE!!!!  Way to push yourself through that cardio.  Way to keep that diet clean, and yes I do understand about your husband.  My husband in naturally lean and has very low body fat.  He works out, so he also is very muscular, but he has never had a weigth problem, so I get frustrated that he'll never understand the commitment that it takes to lose weight.  Many men lose is more quickly than women; we've been cursed with hormones that make it tougher.  I was just talking to my trainer a few weeks ago and told him that I wouldn't want it to come too easily.  I know plenty of skinny fat people who feel they dont' have to workout and that they look fine.  I LOVE having to work for how I look, and I'd much rather look lean and toned than skinny anyday!!  So sorry to hear about your sister.  I will be praying for her and her family, especially the boys.  I know just having your support means a lot to her!

Claude:  Glad you go that workout in.  Thanks so much for the link; it did have some useful info.  That was sweet of you.  Keep up the great work.

Cuervo:  I understand. I will never stop posting here; this is my second family.  But, I love MFP because it is so easy to navigate from my phone, and it doesn't take long to check in with everyone, and make a few comments and be on your way.  Once you use it long enough, so many of your foods are in the database and so easy to do when out away from a computer.  I don't like posting on here from my phone because it takes too long, although I check in and read frequently.  I am proud of your success so far, and your ability to find the things to do that won't affect your shoulder.  That is true Warrior fashion for sure.  I do love that pool analogy and you are draining it!  DO NOT get burnt out; if you feel you need to take 2 days off, then do it, you will just lift stronger on those other days.  Yay for Jan on gaining muscle and burning that fat; it's what it's all about!!  You two are a force to be reckoned with!!  Stay away from those pops (ha).

Parson:  That stinks.  Do feel better soon. I never understood the colds in the middle of the summer.  A group of friends we know here all just got over the stomach flu...that is something I really don't want anything to do with!!!  We've all been taking our probiotics, and so far so good!!!  Maybe Wendy has a bone/heel spur??  I had my husband rub my heel for a little bit last night, and it was so painful, but kinda felt good in a weird way...I guess kinda like DOMS.....ha.

K....Warriors, have a fabulous Friday and a Rockin Weekend!!!

    I didn't proof and already spotted a few typos....but you'll figure it out...ha.

  • Happy Friday, Warriors!

We had another family workout this morning. We did hill repeats outdoors, and it was tough. We did 3.2 miles of hills! I came inside and did a short LBWO....very short...I was worn out and hungry after those hills! Tomorrow will be a distance run or a track run for me....it will depend on Mike's schedule and if I have to take Mickey to football practice. Mickey weighs in tomorrow morning, so I am praying that he will be where he needs to be. He has been working hard, and I have only fed him CLEAN foods over the past few days.

Cuervo: I totally agree with you and BDMom. MFP is much easier as a posting site. We know you are working hard and getting it done! You have made amazing progress. Keep it up! I know having Jan there to support you makes a huge difference....having my family join in this week has been wonderful!

Claude: Hope things are going well with you going back to work this week. Keep up with those workouts and eat clean, and you will do great!

BDMom: I used to get calf cramps with my soft splint, and would have to loosen it or take it off during the night. I never had that problem with the boot my ortho fit me with. The boot was a little more awkward-feeling, but I felt it did a better job of keeping me stretched out. I sure hope you get some relief soon!!! Cody went to Target earlier this week and spent most of his gift cards....they were burning a hole in his pocket! He still has a little more money from his birthday, and he told me he wants to go spend it today. I have been trying to talk him into saving his money, but he just HAS to have a new Beyblade stadium. Kids are so funny! I know you will get that weight off soon....we will kill it these next 6 weeks!!!!

Parson: That's good to know about Bolt. I guess I can feel a little respect for him! I hope you feel better soon. Colds are so annoying!

Miss: Way to go!!!! Doesn't it feel so awesome to know you are making progress??!!! I am so sorry about your sister. Right now all you can do is pray for her, and help her in any way you can with her kids as well as just being there for her emotionally. God can work miracles, so I will be praying for her.

Island: Hope you are doing well....I'm sure you are in the midst of a crazy schedule again as usual!!!

My kids have their triathlon this evening. We practiced transitions yesterday and they are ready! They are so excited! Mickey has done several kids triathlons since he was 4 y/o, but this will be Cody's first one. He keeps talking about getting a gold medal....I think he has been watching the Olympics too much! There are thunderstorms in the forecast for tonight, but hopefully they will hold off until after the tri is done.

Have a great weekend, Warriors!!!!! Push through those workouts and keep your nutrition CLEAN!!!!! You are worth it!!!!

  • Hi Warriors!

Okay, where is everyone??? I don't like posting twice in a row...ha ha!

Just got back from an awesome run at the track. I ran 5 miles in 41 minutes. I did a series of sprints and recovery, and threw in a few hills back up to the parking lost. It was a great workout. Very humid though so I was soaked by the end!

Mickey and Cody did great in their triathlon last night! I was such a proud mommy!!!! Mickey did the distance for the older kids, so he had to swim 150  m (6 laps), bike 3 miles and run 1 mile. Well, he is my little swimmer (takes after his dad!) and swam those 6 laps in no time flat (I would still be swimming...ha ha....I hate swimming laps!), did great on the bike, and finished his run strong!!! Cody did the younger kid distance, which was swim 25 m (1 lap), bike 1 mile, and run .25 mile. He swam his little heart out (even though he was nervous....he is not a strong swimmer...takes after me!), then dashed off on his bike, and ran the whole run without walking. I was going to run with him, but he told me "No, mommy, I want to do it by myself!". I am so proud of them both!!! They hung their medals proudly in their bedrooms!!!

Mickey is at football practice now with Mike, so I will be anxious to hear how he weighed in. I am praying he made his weight class....I really don't want him playing with the "big boys"!

I will be keeping my nutrition clean this weekend!!!! Tomorrow will be rest day for me, then I will be back killing it in the weight room on Monday!!!!!

Have a great weekend Warriors!!!!! Hope everyone is doing well.

  • I'm here!!

Got to the gym and did 45 minutes of weights and then 60 minutes of spinning.  I went to see a physical therapist yesterday for my foot, and she did ultrasound to send heat down to the tissue and then massaged, and then had me do a bunch of exercises, and roll my heel on a bigger version of a golf ball (that was the most painful).  She then wrapped it.  The wrap was supposed to stay on for 4-5 days, but came off in the shower last night.  I am to continue doing the exercises twice a day for now, and will see her once a week for a few weeks.  I am feeling a bit of improvement. On Thursday, when I tried to run, it felt like I was coming down on a butcher knife.  I won't try to run again until Tuesday, and will "rest" it until then.  That just means not runnning; I never seem to be off my feet for long...ha.  The rest of the day will be cleaning, laundry, food prep.  The kids go back to school on Monday.  I just wish it wasn't so darn hot out!!

runnermom:  I am sure you were beaming with pride.  What an amazing feat for two little men.  I am sure they are very proud of those medals, as they should be.  I guess the rain held off?  Sounds like you got in an Awesome workout this morning.  I can't wait to get back outside to do some hiking!  Gift cards are hard.  When our girls get cash, we let them keep half for what they want, and then half goes into their savings accounts.  Lane did manage to spend all of her giftcards at Target & Justice, and enjoyed every minute of it.

I will continue to eat clean today and will only have a small treat or two tomorrow; I am tired of undoing all my hard work by indulging too much on Sunday.  I am going to make sure I log everything on MFP as well.  I usually go a bit higher on carbs, which is fine, but need to watch the fat on Sundays!  I want to see at least a 1# drop for this week.

    Hope everyone is doing well!!!

    Have a great weekend!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Hi girls, looks like its just us this weekend!

I am proud to say I have had a great week, and that I have held it together quite well given some of the events this week.  I used to be an emotional eater BIG TIME, and lo and behold, that is gone, no desire what so ever. I am slimming down, and feel young again!   Another sad effect of my weightloss? *taps playing* my itty bitty boobies.  Seriously, I don't think this is fair. LOL, oh well, less to lug around.  My eating has been great, and workouts hard and heavy.  I am looking forward to next monday for my 8 week re assessment.  WOO HOO!

  • HEY HEY HEY WARRIORS!! So sorry for the hiatus the last week.. I have been swamped with work and had my keikis for the better part of the week cause there mom had to go out of town kind of abruptly.. my baby girl just started cheer leading for one of the  west side eagles pop warner teams here so between trying to coordinate with my dad to get my babies to school me getting to work and picking them up and getting my girl to practice on time then coming home getting homework done getting dinner ready eating and getting to bed by a decent hour has been challenging to say the least.. I am happy to say that we managed and I also got my W/O's in thanks to my pops for letting me drop my kids off at his house super early so I could get to the gym ontime, then on to work.. My cell phone pooped out on me as well this week well kinda sorta .. the cell network was fine but no data connection at all ... so my giant touch screen had the functionality of a basic cell phone lol.. Man it was a hellish 3 days with no internet access So I wasn't able to follow the thread via the daily emails ( lots of reading to do to catch up ) .. I have a new phone and am back on track this week.. I just wanted to check in and let you all know Im still here and still going as usual.. I know the rest of u warriors are kickin butt still and I will be back on a more regular basis again.. Gotta hit the sack but will check back ..

BD, Runner, Afleece, Miss, Cuervo, Parson, Claude, Bill, Fit,  and anyone else I may have missed.. Lets get this week started right!! much aloha to you all :)

  • Morning Warriors!

What a weekend....spent a lot of time in bed trying to recover from this cold!  I feel a lot better this morning and actually had a good workout - UBWO this AM.  Finished it off with 20 min of cardio.  Hopefully tomorrow I will be 100%!

Cuervo - I had a pretty good size free meal on Friday night myself.  I felt so bad from this cold that I was some what ravenous LOL!  I enjoyed every bite of it...and wanted a few more...no need in lying ha!

Confession time....or maybe a bit of inner soul searching here.  I'm not enjoying this "cut" at all.  I'm within 5lbs of my goal weight and honestly I could lose that in the next 2 weeks or so if I wanted to.  The problem for me is that the goal weight is not a meaningful goal to me, and it is on the edge of getting in the way of my other goals which steady increase in strength. Blah, blah, blah....i'm going to suck it up and stick to what I said I was going to do.  I will shed at least another 5lbs this month and reassess.  I think I have to remember sometimes that this is as much about me telling my body who is in control as anything else.

If time permits I'm going to check out a tae-kwan-do class tomorrow night.  Someone new to my church is a black belt and they invited me to come check it out.  I have heard all of the arguments for and against it vs other martial arts....bottom line it is the only choice within 50-60 miles.  It's free to check out, so I might as well.  I'm hoping it may be something that the kids are interested in too.  A family experience would be worth it more than anything else!

Have a great day Warriors!  You guys are all inspiring me to push ahead today.  No excuses!

  • Hi Warriors!!!!

Island: Whew....just reading your post made me tired!!! You are sooo busy! Way to fit it all in, and get your workouts in too! You are a perfect example of making time to fit in your workouts...you have your priorities straight! My son is playing football for Pop Warner and my husband is an assistant coach. It is pretty serious stuff! Mike had to pass 5 tests to coach, and there were strict rules to play for Mickey. How is the cheerleading aspect? Mickey really likes it so far. Today is his first practice in pads so he is excited!

Parson: Way to stick with it. I'm glad you are finishing what you started for your goals. Let us know how Tae Kwan Do goes! I've always wanted to try a class, but never have.

Miss: So glad you had a successful week! I, too, have been an emotional eater in the past, but I feel that I am finally making a breakthrough. I am reading Rachel Cosgrove's book "The Female Body Breakthrough" and she has a chapter devoted to emotional eating, and the struggles she has gone through in the past. It has really helped me a TON! BTW, I won't even tell you my bra size b/c it is non-existent...ha ha. Yes, that's the first place I drop weight but for me it's all good...I would rather be lean everywhere than larger everywhere if you know what I mean.

BDMom: Hope everyone had a great start this morning for the first day of school! I was thinking about you and your girls this morning!!!

This morning was a great workout. I took Mickey outdoors and led him through a true running HIIT for 20 minutes, then we did a 5 min cool down jog. I was SOOOO proud of him! He jogged/ran for the whole entire HIIT! We covered a little over 2 miles in our 20 min HIIT. He has never run at that pace before (there were hills too) and he was so proud! Then, we came in and did some agility work and I got in my UBWO (shoulders and triceps). Mike had to go to work early so he wasn't able to join us today. Cody did his jumproping and is up to 27 consecutive jumps....pretty good since he just learned to jumprope last week!!!!

Food is SUPER CLEAN and I feel FANTASTIC!!!!!! I went to the Farmer's Market yesterday and loaded up on fresh fruits and veggies!!!!

Alright Warriors, time for some more of you to post....let's hear from you!!!!

    Have a great day!!!!

  • Good afternoon Warriors!!!!

Wow, I forgot how soon 4:30 rolls around. That is what time I get up during the school year.  I got Delaney to school and Brittany off to camp.  The freshman and sophomore girls go to a camp up north for a few days to get away from the distraction of boys and life.  It should be good for them all.  I then got to the gym, and walked uphill on the TM for 8 minutes while waiting for spin class.  I then did a 60 minute spin class, and came home and did an 8-minute bootcamp ab tape.  Off to a good start this week!!  Food is clean and prepared for the day.  I will eat lunch here in a bit and feed the dogs before I have to head out to pick up Lane.  My foot feels a little bit better.  I may try to do my HIIT tomorrow morning and see how I do.  I finally got my spin shoes.  They are not the top of the line, nor are they the cheapies..they fall somewhere in between.  They installed the clips for me, so I am ready to go.  I didn't wear them today, since I bought them after my spin class.  I wore my heart rate monitor to spin today, and it showed that I burned over 500 calories...I'll take that!

runnermom:  sounds like you and the boys got off to a great start this morning.  I am so envious you can workout outside.  I am sure the boys are just pumped after working out with you in the mornings.  Glad you got to the farmers market; this time of year is great for so many yummy fresh foods.

Parson:  I hope you are feeling loads better and that you continue to feel better.  I get what you are saying; we tend to be our own worst critic, coach, etc....5 pounds in a month...you got this!!!  Go get em.  I have heard all good things about Tae-kwon-do.  I say go for it.  It would be awesome if the kids wanted to get involved.  I really want to get my girls in some self defense classes; I think they will need them (ha).

Island:  Welcome back.  It sounds as if you have been super duper busy!  Kids will keep you that way!  Glad your dad was there and able to help you out. Also glad you got your phone back!!!  NO excuses now.

Miss Understood:  I am so happy that you are feeling in control of your body and your eating.  You have made such great progress; you are making it a lifestyle, and that feels good!! As far as your boobs....that happened to me too.  I exercised my way from a C cup to an A cup, and then had a biopsy that took even more size from one....anyhow, I tend to be too vain, and ended up getting an aug. last summer.  Not sayin everyone has to do that....I just missed my curves!

Alright Warriors, I am ready to make it an incredible week.  Are you with me????

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Morning Warriors!

LBWO is done.  DL were done with authority!!!  I can tell I feel better today than yesterday.

BDmom - 4:30 is early to be getting up.  I get up at 5 everyday.  I can get up, read, do my workout and still be in and ready before the kids are up etc.  I'm glad we are less than 5 minutes from school etc in our little country town.  I still couldn't manage afternoon workouts.  I just love lifting at 530 in the morning.  Almost like I'm helping the sun rise haha!

Claude - I see you are dropping weight according to MFP!  Keep it up friend!

I've got a busy day ahead.  Got to pick up some furniture after work for some foster children....and a friend has already called with car trouble this morning.  It should be a fun one on top of my regularly scheduled work load!

    Have a great day Warriors!

  • I forgot to mention.  I ordered a weight lifting belt yesterday from Inzer.  I hope it is here in time for squats on Friday!  I had been thinking about it for a while and I have decided to try one out on my heaviest sets.  I guess we will see how that goes.

  • Wow, I can hear my echo again!  Where is everyone at?

I got Delaney to school and then to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned, then off to the gym for an UBWO and 20 minutes on the stairclimber.  I did do my HIIT this morning, but probably not wise!!  It definately hurt when I was doing it.  I couldn't go faster than 9.0 mph or I felt like I was coming down on my foot too hard.  Overall, it felt like I was running barefoot on a bed of rocks.  After the fist 15 minutes, it kinda got numb.  I iced it as soon as I finished, but it is really hurting now.  I am icing it again right now.  Not sure what I'll do about HIIT on Thursday; will play it by ear, I guess.  I got a HR monitor that I've been wearing, and I am burning more cals than I expected. What a pleasant surprise!  Will be leaving here in about an hour to get Lane from school and then she has swim. Brit gets back from camp tomorrow; I am ready for her to get home...I have missed her!!  Food has been clean today and will remain that way!!

Parson:  Let us know how that vest works out for you; probably a wise investment, so you don't injure your back.  If you didn't get your workouts done first thing in the morning, you'd probably never get them done; something always seems to come up to keep you hoppin.  As much as I complain about getting up early, I really do like watching the sun rise.  I feel bad for people that don't get to enjoy that every once in awhile!  It's a peaceful & beautiful time of day.

I hope all your Warriors are rockin it!!!!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Hi Warriors!

Super quick check in for accountability. I am on stay-cation...not much time for posting!

I got up this morning and had a great LBWO!!! I did intervals of tabatas too. Feeling strong!

Tomorrow will be cardio day for me, so will most likely do a HIIT run outdoors.

We raced go-carts today (not my favorite, but it's what I get for being the only female in our household!) and tomorrow is Carowinds, an amusement and waterpark here...half of it is in NC and half of it is SC....pretty neat! My kids are so excited!

    Food has been CLEAN!

BDMom: Hoping your foot feels better really, really soon!!!

Parson: Hope you were able to fit all your activities in this busy day!!!

Have a great evening, Warriors!!!! Where is everyone?????

  • Hey all, I have been doing OK this week, however out of state guests have us eating out a LOT.... I am really trying to eat responsibly, and keep portions under control.  My sister's situation is causing a bunch of stress, and making things a little tense between my husband and myself, I pray for this to work itself out SOON.  I did my cardio this morning, practically in tears, so its hard to really hit it.

BD, hope that foot heals asap! I know you really wanted to hit things hard in the second half!

Runner, Have a blast with the family!

Here's to a strong finish to the work week!
