BFL Warriors

  • PB: Sweat in the eye is one thing....all you need now is blood.....then you're really hard core. Hope your daughter heals quickly.

fit4life "The dream must be bigger than the pain"

  • WP: I too use the smith machine alot. I use it for  incline bench presses and squats. I seem to get a real good burn in the thighs doing it this way.

fit4life "The dream must be bigger than the pain"

  • Ceurvo: Glad your workouts are on track. A true Warrior knows how to make adjustments and move forward. I recall a time when I couldn't  curl for 6 months because of a stupid little tenden in my arm that just killed. It finally healed up but took longer than I thought.

  • Hey all,

I've been MIA for a bit due to a couple of busy days as well as a hair mishap.  I went to bet my hair colored and, on a whim, decided to get my long hair chopped off.  Why?  Who in the world knows???  Anyway, it turned out awful and I had to go back again today to try to get it fixed.  I think it's better but I won't really be sure until I start styling it myself, haha.  Oh well, it'll grow back right??

Claude- I get my body fat done b/c I'm too afraid of the scale, haha!!

Parson- 315 squat???  That's awesome!!!!  Also, for pillows- I could sleep on a hard rock and be fine but my husband is picky.  We bought latex pillows about 6 months ago and he loves them.

Runnermom- I like the stair machine b/c the handles are right there for me to hold on to.  I usually use the treadmill for my HIIT but I feel like a spaz on that!  I feel like I'm zigzagging back and forth somehow, haha!

Cuervo- Sounds like you've put on a LOT of muscle!  That's great!  Congrats!

I did get my body fat tested on Thursday, as planned.  Down from 27.3% to 25.2% in about 4 weeks.  He said I lost about 3.5 lbs of fat which is a little under 1 lb/wk.  He said that that is a good range, especially since I didn't start BFL until about 2 1/2 weeks before the test so 1 1/2 weeks of that time was me eating what I wanted :)  Got my UBWO in yesterday and made some delicious grilled tilapia w/ mango salsa for dinner.  Today, after getting my hair done I stopped by the gym for my HIIT on the elliptical- I've had to ditch the treadmill to try to let my shins splints heal before my next mud run on 6/2.  I adjusted the resistance for each level and felt like I got a really good workout.  I was drenched!!  Hope you all have a great Saturday- I'm off to see if I can't make my hair look normal.

  • Hi Warriors,

Well so far the house work still needs to be done due to Friday was spent buying flower for the MIL front flower beds. My sister inlaw made her spend about 200$ last year and it looked like crap. I have a degree in gardening and landscaping due to in the 90's there was a time when the RCMP where downsizing so I took a corespondence course just in case as my position was left off the org. chart for 2 yrs. As it turned out I'm still there. Everybody seems to stick there nose into the flower bed thing and they don't really know what they are doing. So Linda told her mom that she would fix it this yr. under one condition and that's where I come in. My rule no one touches what I do and if so I will not fix it again. Just tired of this nonsense. Flower bed is planted in 3 - 5 yrs. will look great if all goes well. Linda's back still the same.

I'm getting my wo's in will be going for a run after this then will be doing the veg and flower garden here and hopefully fix the pool too. No slacking off today. My eating is still up and down as I just can't seem to plan my meals for the week. Will try and eat the same thing all week maybe. Ilove to eat all kinds of foods that's the problem and never know what I will be hungry for. Have been trying no carbs after 4 pm It's hard some days I suceed some I don't. will keep trying until I get it.

    VKschoch,

When will you be posting the new Hdoo. lol Don't be affaid just show it who's boss. I should do the same too. Good job on the B/F.

    Andy10,

Hope you are doing well check in.

    Parson,

Great job on the squats. It seems in this neighborhood we have all kinds of atheletes training for different events so someone doing farmers walks with plates wouldn't seem that wierd here. lol. As for pillows I use a rather hard one thats magnetic that I bought yrs. ago when I dabbled in Nikon a japenese co. It's suppose to increase blood flow. I also use a sleep mask when I get migraines for the same reason sometimes it helps sometimes not. I would go with goose down but Linda is allergic.

    Cuervo,

Glad you are figuring out your wo's and you are back in the game full on. From the sounds of it you are well on your way.

    Fit,

It's almost race time your team will do great.

    Island,

Temps are closer to what you get in winter here today. I know you are killing it all the time. you are an inspiration. I don't know if I could keep up that pace for long as you do.

    Runnermom,

It's too bad no one wrote down those old recipe's. My grandma was the same now they are lost. Linda's grandma wrote some down but its hard to figure out. things like butter the size of an egg. How big was the egg? Or a handfull of flour. I feel tired on Friday so that has become my day off seems to be working for me. Your spinning class is most likely whats burning you out on Thurs.

    BD,

I know what you mean on the eating thing. We went to Montana's and I ordered a large order of beef ribs. The last time I ordered the they weren't that big. This time I could only eat one so I will have the other after my run for breaky. Breakfast of champions. lol. The scale isn't working so well for me either need to focus on the eating thing too.

One more coffee and out the door for my run. It's 85 F here AC is on summer has finally arrived bring it on. I also took Tuesday off so the house work should get done.

    Have a greaat day warriors.

    Claude

  • Had a great run here's the stats.

    4.67 mi,

    38.58 min.

    Avg. Pace: 8.20

    Avg. Speed : 7.19 mi/h

    Calories burned : 431

First run this week. I will have to try and do this run 3 times a week. I've only run this course 4 times so far lots of room for improvement.

Runnermom, I need a warm up routine right now I just go out the door and start running. Any suggestions would be appreciated. As I'm not a real runner yet. I noticed my stride is very choppy when I start and gets smoother as I warmup. By choppy I mean it is shorter steps.

    BD,

My iPod is loaded with all kinds of stuff yesterday I was listening to Harry Potter the musical.  I inherited it from Chris because we bought him a new and better one. I lost mine at the RCMP Gym go figure I left it and someone liked it enough to keep it along with a brand new headphone set. We share the gym with Elections Canada being the good neighbors so who knows who took it. Pretty sad how people are sometimes.

  • Claude: That is some fantastic running....and you say you are not a runner. You be leaving me in the dust!!!

  • Morning Warriors!

UBWO is done.  It was good, but my mind was wandering this AM.  Just a lot on my mind today I guess.  Nothing bad, but I just couldn't get focused.  It happens, and so we move one with life I guess.

Another full week ahead for me with work etc.  I've got to get at it this AM, so no time for personals etc.

You guys are rocking it.  Have a great day!!!

  • Hey Warriors....a good Monday morning to you all. Hope you all had a great weekend. Headed to the gym in a few hours for my leg workout. Had a non-planned free night of eating on the weekend. I hate when that happens but one thing led to another and before you know it I was chowing down on fries....had a couple beers and a few treats. I don't mind treating myself when I plan on it but otherwise I feel like I lost my discipline. But....as warriors we move on. All is not lost. The workouts and nutrition are steady and I'm looking forward to a great summer of fun in the sun.

I was just curious how many of you have done an "official" 12 week challenge where you entered the contest. I've never done it....only unofficial challenges for me. I'm not even sure if being from Canada if I can even enter an official challenge.

    Have a great week all!!!!!

  • HI Warriors!

Mondays are so hard....I am counting down the days til summer break!

We had a beautiful weekend here. The weather was just perfect! I had a good run on Saturday morning outdoors. I ran about 4.5 miles and did some speed work intervals. I came home and did a little bit of shoulder and chest work, but nothing too strenuous. I can't say that my nutrition was stellar over the weekend. The days were good, but on Saturday and Sunday evenings I had dessert on each night, and it wasn't a small dessert either. I actually felt really sick this morning from all the sugar I ate last night, so another lesson learned! I really want to get all sugar OUT, even on cheat meals. I just feel that it slows me down and makes me feel just horrible.

Parson: I think we all have days like that....we are all busy Warriors with lots on our minds!

Claude: Wow, your runs are improving quickly. Do you have a Garmin, or how do you track your runs?

Fit: How are your workouts going? Are you in a challenge right now, or what are you doing?

Vicki: Great progress on your BF reduction! Keep it up! Sorry I never answered your question about shin splints. I think the more you run and the more your body gets used to running, you will have less shin splints. Just like anything else, the more consistent you are with an exercise, the more your body will adjust.

BDMom: hope you had a nice weekend with your girls and with your HS friends. Can't wait to hear about it. Thanks for the cauliflower pizza crust recipe. Definitely gonna try it soon.

This morning I decided to add extra cardio since I overindulged this weekend! I ran 3 miles in 23 minutes on the TM then had a great LBWO. It was a really good workout and I feel like I could've workout out all day, except I had to get to work! Nutrition is packed and clean.

    Have a great day Warriors!

  • Fit: We must have been posting at the same time! No, I have never done an official challenge where I have entered the contest. My challenges have really only been for me, and something to help keep me on track. I started my first challenge almost a year ago this July, and I am currently almost finished with my C4. I am so glad that I dusted off my BFL book and got back into weight training. It has totally transformed me!

  • Hello All:

It's been one of those days.  It's 3:30 here, and I am just now eating lunch.  Yes, it's clean!  I got an UBWO in today and will do LB tomorrow and UB with trainer on Wed.  I won't be able to workout on Thursday and Friday; not enough hours in the day.  I will try to knock out a Hiit on Thursday morning before the day starts.  My oldest daughter has a friend over, and I am waiting for my youngest daughter to get home from school.  The bugman just left, and I need to go feed the dogs.  Hope to have time for personals later.

    Have a great evening!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Hey warriors, Been a lil bit since I had a chance to check in, Im still hitting it hard and going strong! I hit my chest hard yesterday and did a dead lifting session finished my last 2 sets with 405 for 8 reps each. did a couple of pulling exercises cable rows and hammer strength rows. and had to get back to work..

Claude: wow that's an amazing run! I think you would give runner some competition lol.. Keep it going..

Parson: I was feeling the same way yesterday, I still killed it but my mind wasn't really there.. as long as we got it in that's what counts..

Fit: I have been through 5 personal challenges myself never did it officially never had the need I just needed to finish it for myself.

Runner: I was the same found my BFL book when i getting things together when i was moving soo happy i read it again cleared my head and found such a wonderful supportive group here on the BFL site. Thank you ALL!!!!!

BD: I know you can get it done! :)

to anyone I may have missed.. have a great day! much aloha

  • Morning Warriors!

LBWO is done!  Got a couple of rep PR's along the way.  All in all a good workout.

Fit/Island/Cuervo - I know you all have tried/taken various pre-workout supplements.  I just finished off my last batch of NO-Xplode.  Do you guys take a break from them ever so often?  I have read a lot that suggests it is not necessary.  I tend to give myself at least a few days because I simply cant get any more to my house any sooner.  But it's also a discipline thing too.  Almost like I need to prove I don't need it or that I'm not dependent on it.  What do you guys do?

VK - thanks for the info on the pillow.  I'm on the hunt for the "perfect" one now LOL!

Runner - Don't tell about desserts without telling us what they were!  You all know that I am a meat and potatoes guy over desserts, but recently I stumbled over possibly a deadly combination for me....my neighbor (retired lady in her 70's) makes these candied pecans.  They are more or less glazed with cinnamon, sugar, and honey.  I kid you not, we have a little bag hidden on the kitchen counter she gave us 2 weeks ago.  I allow myself 2/day...or 1 pecan essentially.  Only the good Lord knows how many cals etc they are, but man they are good!  I figure 1 pecan per day is equivalent to completing an entire 12 week BFL challenge in my books.  I can cram all of the mental anguish/pain/suffering into limiting myself to 1 pecan LOL!

BD - I may be with you on Thursday and missing a WO.  I may have to travel for work.  I'm hoping to squeeze it in....We will all survive!

Have a great day Warriors!  Remember - to get what you have never had, you have to do what you have never done!

  • Hi Warriors,

    Fit,

As a fellow Canuck, I beleive we cannot enter an Official Challenge. But this is my take on it official or not we all read the book and are doing the work and we are all getting positive results and having fun along the journey. I dusted my book off as well always knew I had it in the back of my mind and when Miss Julie told me that ALL THE OLD MEN MY AGE HAD BEER GUTS, it hit home and I knew it was time to do something about it she really struck a nerve and I thank her for that. Sometimes we ned a wakeup call. I was not a big fan of chatting online before I joined my first groupHA !HA! Look at me know. This has been one of the side benefits I have met so many people from all walks of life and we all have something in common, support each other imagine that. The gut is still there but will get even smaller with every challenge I hope and for that THANK YOU ONE AND ALL! Every one deserves a pat on the back.

Now the running thing not sure how accurate MAPMYRUN.COM is. Been running the same  course every time and have been getting different millage. When I run the goal stays the same don't burnout before I'm done and have not so far. I feel that I am running a good pace acn't really tell if I'm faster or not. The hills are still killing me to the point that I slow down some but haven't stopped on them. There is only one real killer hill that I want to beat on this course, meaning that I want to keep the same pace running up it as I do the smaller ones hasn't happened yet..

    Parson,

I know you will work through no matter what and getter done. We all have those days sometimes weeks. Have you taken your weights for a walk yet.lol. How's the girl doing?

    BD,

Thanks for the recipe. I forgot to congadulate you on the chem exam. Between you and my daughter you both sound the same when it comes to your exams. Makes me crazy cause I know it can't be that bad and it never is. Good Job. Do what you can you will be back on track before you know it.

    Runnermom,

I use my phone and MapMyrun.com App. Will try my garmin can't be any worse than hold my phone. Will let you know what happens. Do you have any suggestions for a pre - run routine/warmup. I usually start cold meaning out the door and away I go.

    Island,

Thanks but I still don't feel like I'm that fast yet maybe someday . I still think runner will make me eat her dust.lol How are the supps going any big change yet?

My wo yesterday was 2 hrs. in the sun gardening, my back looks like a lobster and feels like lava. lol Was able to sleep so thats a good sign. The family went to see the Avengers last night so eating was bad. Movie was great especilly the 3D Effects. If you go you have to stay until all the credits are run. There is an extra clip that most people miss because they leave. It's worth staying for icing on the cake. Will be running inside as it's tooo wet here rainning. Time to double up today.

    Have a GREAT DAY ALL!!!

    Claude
