Will be good to have a familiar face from the start Opti.... And the Moxie can join us a week later...
Its 6AM here in Korea. I went to bed at 1Am. I cant sleep anymore. What a waste of a Saturday morning. Its freezing cold here!! Worst day of the Winter so far. Really dont wanna go do cardio right now. Just gonna get back in bed, read a book and see if i can fall asleep again. I was all set to sleep as late as I could because im SO tired. One more week for you Moxie! And 2 for us Opti. That back injury set me a week back...
I'm actually a week behind you guys. I started 11/8. So I will be done a week after you. I will also start the second one a week after you guys. :( But it's good to see where I'll be a week later! I'm sorry that you're having such a hard time sleeping. Do you credit it to hunger? Those sharp pains? Are you taking Motrin or Alieve or anything? Maybe some nighttime Tylenol/Advil will help both of those. It's prety cold here too. Too much snow. I hope when you wake up, you'll be refreshed and ready for Cardio. It doesn't HAVE to be first thing in the am, right? Hang in there!
DO YOUR BEST TODAY!
Yes, I think if you don't have plans for the next day, like a Saturday, taking a nightime pill the night b4 is good. I rarely take them 'cuz they make me sleep so heavily, I miss my alarm.
I saw a video on another thread about finishing strong. It was very motivational, I will have to see if I can find it again and post a link.
2 weeks to go!!! (1 for loubear!)
what I ate today:
protein waffles (yum!!), tomato juice
milk with protein powder
beef stew with seet potato and carrots, bowl of baby lettuce, 3 pieces candy >:/
yoplait whip yogurt, 2 cheese sticks
chicken with extra stir fry veggies
1 H. kiss
A coworker brought me some leftover holiday candy... I was going to ignore it completely. Then decided to have some.... then thought of having to type this later, then was able to stop! So that's why I had no carb portion for supper, to make up for that candy.
I am having that tiny kiss at the very end. I don't have it every night, but if it becomes the only thing that is bad for me all day, I don't feel guilty. It's like a fraction of a portion. Tomorrow i should figure out its numbers.
So even with that booboo today, my final portions were 6 protein, 6carb, 3 veggie and 11 cups water!
We are having a lazy day today, and I'm feeling hungry constantly and very tempted... I'm going out for my cardio in a few hours and bringing back home supper for everyone but me--football game food. But I've got a salmon thawing in the fridge for me, plus great=looking baby lettuce package.
If it were not for me being so accountable with my typing of my menu, I would already be telling myself that it would be ok to eat their football food too--but I know the right thing to do.
A successful challenger on this forum mentioned that everytime she was feeling cravings and hunger, meant she was about to lose a pound, so I hope that's what's going on in my body!
Here's what I ate today:
1 piece ww toast, tsp. natural jam, egg scramble, 1/2 portion hash browns, tomato juice
1 piece buffalo jerky, apple, cheese
WW grilled cheese, beef veg. soup, cottage cheese, carrots
chicken, mixed veggie, black beans, and pico de gallo bowl from Qdoba, topped with avocado from home
nutrtition bar similar to Myoplex Lite (I was craving dessert and this came closest)
Warm milk with scoop of chocolate protein powder, dollop of Truwhip
9 cups water so far
My salmon was not thawed yet, so when i got snacks for the family, there was a Qdoba nearby where I customized my bowl, and turned down all extra carbs and fatty toppings! Our football team just won so my hubby wants to share a drink to celebrate. I said I would have some sips.
I have this feeling I"m eating as if I"m in maintenance mode. I don't know, but I just can't eat te same food every single day. I'm trying to keep my breads and grains for during the day
You guys are all awesome! I am so amazed.
I have fallen off the wagon, but am restarting tomorrow.
So impressed and motivated to see your posts and all you
Keep FIGHTING, and keep your fingers crossed for me!
bhammerz! Haven't seen you around since Thanksgiving! Wishing you all the best in completing all 12 weeks this time around! Glad to see you've gotten back up.
After I posted last night--I spun out of control after our team won and we had some drinks. I wasn't planning on having much... but then I started throwing everything into my mouth. Very disappointed. I felt icky afterwards.
Then this morning I woke up starving! I must be at that stage now too, where I'm hungry constantly. I've been out of the house all day and my meals got timed out wrong. I did stop at a restaurant and made great choices, then tried a new cross-country ski trail for an hour. Later I did my LBWO in a fasted state. My new exercises I tried were the deadlifts and step-ups. I don't know about the deadlifts... Are you really supposed to feel it in your hams? I'm going to post a seperate thread/question about them for more input. I did them very slowly and looked sideways into a mirror to make sure I did them right. I felt it all in my lower back.
The step-ups got challenging, it's supposed to be a quad exercise, but I felt it all over. I think those are easy to cheat with. It was a frustrating workout. My wrists were giving out trying to hold weight for all my leg exercises.
what I ate today: (spaced apart very badly)
protein waffles, 1 turkey link, tomato juice
turkey sandwich, salad with oil and vinegar, fresh coleslaw made with very little creamy stuff
leftover steak and mashed potatoes
very unauthorized trail mix, sugar snap peas
2 wasa crackers with laughing cow cheese wedge, 2 hard-boiled eggs
10 cups water
few pieces of gum to control cravings
That gum really does seem to work! along with water while chewing
aahhh, I'm alone here. I've been getting more advice on deadlifts. I see it may be 'cuz of my flexibility. I've never been able to touch my toes, or even close. I will try them again, but might not be able to do them with my back parallel to the floor. I will just have to go as far as I can, and maybe this might help me improve? I stretch after every single workout and i've noticed my flexibility getting a fraction better.
Did my cardio on the bike today, just couldn't seem to match my last speeds, frustrating, but have to remember to stay uncomfortable and try to reach them next time.
Today's food (dentist again today, soft foods):
oatmeal, egg whites, tomato juice
organic applesauce and cottage cheese
tofu and spaghetti, salad
organic cheese, applesauce, sugar snap peas
nutrition blender shake from Eating for Life book, edamame
11 cups of water
still crazy hungry here, and smelling hubby's dinner is not helping. But now that I've posted my food, I cannot add to it! just more water or gum. I'm starting to feel like "why am I doing this? all this hard work, and i'm so hungry, I miss my food, my body still almost looks the same...." It's like a need a reminder of how good I felt at the beginning! I could sure use that 'miracle' slimdown now.
Opti, im here!
Cant believe its Wednesday already! 4 more workouts and then the final week. My scale weight is still refusing to budge!
I enjoy deadlifts now cos i got my form right. I do them with that long bar.... I hope you get them right. think they make a big difference to your back. ive been trying pullups. still cant do them without supporting myself with my feet on a bench. but im doing them. small steps...
have a great day! ill be here to reply again. sorry i left you alone...
pS: ive passed the hungry all day phase now... just keep pushing through!
Dev.--I read a success story once where someone only lost 3 lbs. in multiple challenges, but her body transformation was incredible.
woohoo, I've been very good the past couple days and did not add any more food once I posted! today's food:
Cardio treadmill: increased speed by .1--yes!
then WW toast sandwich with egg whites and 2 turkey links, tomato juice
salmon and sweet potato
milk with protein powder, sugar snap peas
salad, chicken tetrazinni I made from Clean Eating
cottage cheese, orange
Greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, 1/2 tsp. honey, cinnamon, few hickory nuts
Sometimes I work til 9 pm and was eating a normal supper pretty late. but now since we're nearing the end, I'm trying to get filled up on my lunch break at 4 pm, then lighter meals rest of the day. It's so hard 'cuz hubby is eating supper so late too, and I'm not and I can smell it. But tonight's last meal, with the greek yogurt, was delicious! I found nonfat that has 23 protein, 10 carbs in one serving! And it's packaged at a local plant which is great for my economy!
So? Is there anyone who is actually finishing the challenge tomorrow? Im done next week Saturday... This week has been bad. I didnt do cardio at all. Totally missed 2 cardio workouts. Been sticking to diet. Only cardio went missing. Feels like not much has happened since i hurt my back. That week off kinda threw me off momentum and since then its just been blah.
Heading to gym this morning. Going to do my best with the weights as ive been doing.
Good luck to anyone finishing tomorrow. Last week for me and then time for photos.... UGH!
I forgot my food sheet at work the other day and my meals got a little messed up. Can't beleive how much I rely on it. I had a lil slip up being hungry at night and gave in.
I've had a small chest pain the last few days but did my UBWO anyway, didn't seem to agravate it. But today's cardio I just couldn't seem to match my speeds to last time, and I was starting to wonder about my heart rate 'cuz I've been reading about maximum heart rate. I'm not sure if i'm doing it right, but I think I am. Just frustratng that sometimes I can match my speeds, and lately I've had a few times that just seem so much harder than they should be. Then the OTHER side of my chest had a quick sharp pain but went away right away... agh, these little pains are annoying. I'm going to start a thread about heart rate if anyone has input.
Dev., hope you are jumping right back on that cardio horse! Even if you have to tone it down just a little bit to get back to it.
I don't have time to write but FIGHTING!!! ONE more week. It's almost over. Then starts a tougher challenge but a more meaningful one to me! We're doing so great!!!!! Keep up the good work!
I love the search option on here. I didnt need to start a new trhead about heart rate, I just searched and found all my answers. according to emily alvers (past bfl champion) your cardios should range from about 64%-94% as you go through the intensity levels. I've been noticing that around level 9, i was at 93%, so I guess i'm right on track. However my last cardio, instead of my intensity levels being 6, 7, 8, 9, they were more like 7, 9, 9, 9. So that definitely has to be spaced out more.
Also found more deadlift info using the search. One guy didn't start feeling them until his 7th workout! And when he did, he said it was so worth the persistence of practice. I did them today, only my 2nd time. my back didn't hurt as much, but still didn't feel it in my hams... I will keep trying. i've decided to stop doing the step-ups for quads, they feel awkward, and I don't want 2 awkward exercises at the same time. When I was all done with hams and quads today, my wrists were killing me, but felt like I barely worked my legs... felt like a wasted workout. think I will go back to the Leg Press for quads (which is a compound exercise I feel all over the legs) then still work on deadlifts for hams. That way, my hams still get SOME kind of workout that I can feel. IF I ever get those darn deadlifts figured out right, then I might try the step-ups again.
my gym just got a new stepmill and Cybex Arc Trainer!! I might try them out on active rest week at a low impact.
I'm starting to 'reward' myself with the anticipation of the 12-weeks almost being over. I ordered a pair of glasses today that should arrive in a week. also bought some hiking boots on sale that I want to start breaking in over active rest week on the treadmill. So by spring I want them ready to go.
I've been having a huge food battle. This week had a little too many slipups. I've always had this relationship with food, and I know I always will. It will never go away. I love the exercise, barely miss any. I just wish I had that 'drive' with the eating. I have yet to have just a "free meal" on free day. It's just not enough. And I can't justify skipping these last couple free days at the end of the challenge. It's not realistic for me. I will just binge after that if I yoyo like that.
