Worried about starting-and not finishing? Try this: ISOLATE IT!

  • Starting and not finishing a Body for LIFE Challenge, unfortunately is a common theme for many. Here is a mantra that has made ALL the difference in the world for my husband and I.

Before BFL, when I would try to eat right and work out faithfully, if I ate something I shouldn't have or missed a workout, it was enough to make me throw in the towel. I figured since I messed up-why keep going? Now-I "ISOLATE IT." I build up walls around the unclean food that I ate, or that workout I missed, and I make my next workout, or my next meal s good as it can be. I move ON-doing the right thing!

This simple thought process is what has kept me living the BFL lifestyle faithfully for over four years now-I hope it works for you, too.

  • I LOVE to use your "ISOLATE IT", it helped me so much during my first challenge...I remember you posting this on the old site.  I've even passed it on to others.  I loved the blog post about you and your husbands journey on Mike Harris' site as well.  Thanks for posting this for everyone to benefit from!!

  • I have been the same way.  If i trip, I have thrown in the towel.  I don't want to do that.  If someone notices the changes I have made and say something like "you look good, have you lost weight?" I would lose motivation.  I appreciate the words of wisdom and plan to put it to use.

  • Great advise... I guess this is my problem... I have tried like three times to start BFL but every time I kind of to soemthing wrong I just keep doing it wrong!!!

    tks

  • Progress NOT Perfection!!  One day at a time doing the next right thing.  I share with others what might plan is, my goals, etc.  I am not alone in the process to change and grow.  Have a good Wednesday!

  • Perfectionism is a disease! I am starting to heal :-)

    Keep the faith!

  • Oh yeah.....Perfectionism almost drove me crazy years ago.  I was a performaholic.  Been healing ever since.  BFL has been a focused, structured format that keeps me in balnace on the physical side do to the journaling and tracking everything.  However, my expectations are higher than my results.  There's that perfectionism kicking in on my intentions.....Arggghhhh......Be Gone From Me!!  I am enough!!  Right Now!  Accepting and Loving.  Good goals.  Good Reasons.  Being Realistic!  Her we go.....another day!  Off to Cardio!!   Have a great day ALL!
