Sep 27 Crew: Our Transformation

  • I found some low carb whole wheat pitas that I have been putting my egg into in the am.  Since I work out at night, I bet no carbs post workout is a good idea.

Anyone here ever experience a "weight lifter headache".  Just experienced this Monday and last night.  Was taking Nitric Oxide pre workout suppliment that I think caused the problem.  Not fun.  I hope I can avoid a recurrence tonight.

  • Did cardio yesterday...I was seriously pooped before I started after a very hard physical days work so only made 15 minutes before I just had to stop!

Did upper body today and I so often leave the gym feeling like I could have done more...at least I think that until the following day when everything starts hurting ;-)

Was consistantly 1 hour late with every meal today apart from the very first.

Feeling like I need a good sleep tonight, hubby is away so very early night for me!

Night all and good workout to you all for tomorrow :-)

  • Headache came on again last night first set of squats.  Going to need to take 2 weeks off lifting and stick to cardio.  Very annoying...

  • Cares, I'm beat too. I think any time you start a new routine of eating etc... your body lets you know... but doesn't it usually subside in a week or so? I'm exhausted too, and not sleeping well. I MADE myself do that cardio this morning... was late to work because of it. BUT by golly I pushed through and did it. Legs are sore from LBWO yesterday. Dog tired now. BUT could be because it's 11:30 and all I've had to eat is a bowl of cottage cheese. Bad Looney... I'm trying though.

  • It definitely gets a lot easier after the first couple weeks.  Power through and it will become much easier.  I've been steady since January and look foward to my workout every day.  I've probaly been overtraining leading to my headaches.  It is going to be really hard for me to go 2 weeks without lifting.

As far as soreness, that goes away too.

  • Kahoona, I'm wondering if the low carb thing is affecting you too. Read a woman's post on another list and she said that she'd tried limiting carbs and it "backfired" on her. She lost weight much more slowly. Just a thought... and I assume you're drinking tons of water? Sorry bout those headaches, but I'm thinking low carb is not good for you! good luck. I do like the working out too... it's just the beginning fatigue. I don't even feel like tennis, and I always feel like tennis- even in 110 degrees! ;-)

  • Looney thanks for the suggestion.  Am drinking as much water as I can stand.  Maybe I'll try adding back the amout of carbs suggested in the BFL diat plan. (one portion of healthy carbs / day).

I think the headaches are from blood pressure - like when your face turns red while pushing out the last set.  I did a little researching on the web and apparently it is a reasonable commn issues called "weight lifter migrane".

I had been taking a Nitric Oxide supplement pre workout and it helps get the blood flowing.  I tried increasing the "scoops" I added on Monday and that is when the headache started.  I am pretty sure it is related to that.  Unfortunately, it seems to reoccur very easily - even when I dial back the weight / intensity.  I have seen some advice to take a couple weeks off before restarting the lifting.  Will also try taking an Advil.  Want to avoid an anurism.  That would not be good...

Will see a doctor if the problem persists after my rest period.

  • So, I guess I started the 27th as well! I jumped right into the healthy eating, and had been easing into the workout, until yesterday. I had been walking, pushing my 13m daughter around in her stroller. Yesterday I did a cardio video then did stretch band exercises while my baby slept. I'm a stay at home mom with no car, so I have to do what I can at home. My arms are actually a bit sore :) I have always LOVED that feeling! Do you have to do the workout in the morning? I have decided to do mine while my little girl takes her afternoon nap, 3pm-ish. And when she wakes up we hop on my bike, her in the baby seat which adds an extra 28lbs for me to peddle around, and go play at the park which is all hills. I chase her around for a bit, then we hop back on the bike, and I have to peddle uphill the whole way out of the park, and my bike is a one-speed beach cruiser!

We got home from visiting my family in Michigan this past Saturday. I saw pictures my husband took of me holding our girl...ACK!!! That was it! We constantly take pics of our daughter, and I of my hubby holding her, but I totally shy away from having pictures of me. I decided in Michigan that I was going to do the BLF right when we got back, and maybe, just maybe have our first family picture done for Christmas   ***crossing fingers***

Here I am, just starting out. I am 207 right now (I have lost 1lb since monday), and my goal weight is 150. I am pretty muscular, so at that weight I am a size 6, I'm built like a muscular swimmer ***sigh*** I hate putting this in print, but at the moment I wear a size 16, the waist is loose, but I need the extra leg room  ***rolling eyes***  Funny, in highschool I though I was fat! Now, I dream of having that body back!

    So, ready, set, GO!!!

  • Where in the world is this post originating from? I just posted, it's 12:45pm here in Colorado, but the time stamp says 7:45pm! Weird!

  • Brainne - congrats on getting started.  3:00 workouts are fine.  Have you figured out a workout plan yet? I suggest MWF for weight lifting and T, TH, S for cardio (HIIT).

  • Found a good site with guidance on interval training.   www.intervaltraining.net

  • So, I just have to give myself props :) I had a headache when I put my baby down for a nap, so I was trying to convince myself that I didn't have to work out while she slept. I sat and read for a half hour, then kicked myself into gear! I did the cardio workout for 30 minutes :) Emmy (my 13m daughter) woke up like 8 minutes before I was done, but was just talking to herself in her crib, so I got to finish. Yeah me!

  • Kahoona- I went to that site, read it, got all excited, "Tell me more, tell me how!", oh they'll tell you how! If you buy a book for $40!  That sucked, I was looking forward to learning how to loose 2-3lbs a week. Oh well :) We'll see how what I'm doing works.

  • Brianne - here is the link I found with  something that looked like a good 8 week HIIT program.  Had to dig around a little - www.intervaltraining.net/Lose_Belly_Fat_Fast.html

    I wouldn't suggest buying anything.

  • Week 1 and I already fell off the wagon.  Didn't work out yesterday and had too much food and wine last night.  Treated today as free day but did an upper body workout tonight.  Just going to pick myself up and keep on going.

Good job Brianne!  Welcome to BFL!
