September 13 Start Date Anyone?

  • Good morning everyone! Welcome to week five!!!!!!

    I hate to say it... I usually have the immune system of steel... I got sick. I haven't been sick AT ALL in well over a year. So I guess I was due. It started on Thursday. I still worked out on Friday. By Saturday I threw all caution to the wind and took night time cold medicine during the day. I was in a haze and no workout. So I took a day off. I was back to the gym yesterday. Weighed in today and landed on 151. Feeling good. That means I lost eight pounds. Besides that the cardio felt good.

    Did anyone take measurements? I didn't.

  • Highbeams - congrats on 11 pounds!! That's so awesome and I bet very motivating too!  Good for you!!

  • 3 pounds is great too, Peeps!  I like to think of it this way - you lost 3,  but I bet you gained muscle, so I would say you probably lost more fat than you think!  Congrats!!!  

  • Am officially jealous of everyone's weight loss!  I *KNOW* I haven't lost 8 pounds!!  I am worried I gained back the 3 I had lost!   I am sorry you are sick, Bay.  Hope you are feeling better now.

    As for me, I am at the conference and have done pretty well - not as good as I would like in the food department tho- it's just very difficult when I dont have control over what I eat/am served.   Today I made do - they had a vegetable pasta so I brought a package of salmon and added that to it to get my protein - am thinking I might do that again tomorrow.  I am just really limited on my options and I can't even find any EAS protein bars to supplement :(  I am working out though which is great!  The hotel has an amazing facility and it's even easier to get my work-outs in here than at home.  All I have to do is walk downstairs and start working out.  Plus, they have my all-time favorite piece of cardio equipment here too!  So, that is very motivating for me on my cardio days!!!  

    I will be glad to get back so that I can get my eating back on track.  I still have until Sat though - have to be good the rest of the week!   My upper body is pretty sore from yesterday, but this is the first time my upper body has been REALLY sore!  I changed my routine since I am here and have new equipment and such, so I got a better work-out in than what I had been getting since I was doing UB at home.  

    anyway just wanted to pop on and see how everyone was doing - so proud of you all for losing!   Also, Bay - I did take my measurements but it wasn't until week 3, I think.  But, at least I have those - as I think for me, the scale may not budge much, but seeing a difference in measurements will be nice - if that is the case.

    Good to hear from you. I can imagine conferences are HARD! Sounds like you don't have many choices. Awesome that you have a gym to use though! How is it there? Isn't changing up the routine fun! I hope you start seeing some loss in measurement. Thanks for checking in!!!!

  • Good Morning Everyone,

    Sorry I've been out of touch, I have been sick since Tuesday!! Something is in the air.  I missed yesterdays workout and couldn't get out of bed this morning, but planning on getting my cardio in after work today.  I am sure this is a setback, I have been trying to stick to my eating but my throat is on fire, so eating anything non-soothing has been difficult.  

    Bay absolutely fabulous!!! whats your secret?  8 pounds, you are really killing it, GREAT JOB!!!

    I still havent measured, not sure why I haven't.  Its really the tell all for me.

    Travelgirl, good for you making it to the gym, thats awesome! and even better that it hurts, LOL.  I am sure you'll be fine once you get back, look forward not behind.  I am so happy we are all still in this together.  

    I have somewhat of another crazy weekend coming up, but I am determined not to be bad.  I have a friends date tomorrow night with dinner and some clubbing, and a surprise party saturday night that will most likely be a lot of junk food and alcohol.  I have already decided that I will be the designated driver so I cant set myself up to cheat.  At least on the drinking part.  

    Since I was sick 2 days I feel like I really shouldn't have a cheat day this weekend,I need to make the most of week 5.

    Lets do this!

  • PEEPS!!!! I was totally getting worried about you! Yeah.. I get the sick thing. I hope you are feeling better! Take care of yourself, and don't beat yourself up if you have to take a couple of days off. Let your body rest. Do you eat yogurt or cottage cheese? That always helps soothe my sore throat.

    Thanks about the weight loss :) I was pretty excited too. I wish I could find my tape to measure with. Wonder why I didn't think about doing that in the first place!

    You've got a really busy social calendar! Wow! I bet, knowing you have to check in with us, you'll do fine, RIGHT??

    Guess what everybody... Next week we're HALF WAY THROUGH!!

    Bay - That is wonderful on 8lbs!! 8lbs. gone forever.  I'm sorry to hear you've been sick. You too Peeps~ Are you taking vitamin c or a multivitamin? I highly recommend taking one of each everyday. Peeps, sounds like a great weekend youhave planned.

    Travelgirl - Wow, even with all of your travelling your making this work!! That is excellent and what Bill Phillips intended, I think, by labeling it BodyforLIFE. We can't let LIFE get in the way!! :-)

  • Happy Saturday to you all! Just thought I'd pop in here and say "Hi" to everyone! I hope your doing well, and those with the sniffles I hope are feeling better this weekend.  

    I had a great workout on the treadmill last night, usually I do my cardio first thing in the mornings...I didn't have the time yesterday and I surprised myself with actually getting it in after the long work day.  It was so great!!  I know one thing ... I need some new tunes for my mp3!!  Friday evening "radio" stations were pretty good. It's amazing how fast that 20 minutes flew by with some upbeat songs.

    Went shopping today for next weeks meals.  Hubby is getting sick of chicken, but I could eat it everyday. With the cooler weather, I hope to be making some chili soon. Oh and I just LOVE the raspberry smoothie recipe in the Eating For Life book, 'All that Raz"!!  It is soooo good.  You have to try that one!  I wish I'd have started making those back when we were having 100+ hot days.

    Great job on the workout. It always feels great to get them completed! I love cardio... it might be my favorite day of working out. It goes so fast when you've got a good mix on your mp2.

    Funny you mention chicken! My husband started saying the same thing! Oh well. The diets been good for him.

    How was the weekend? Peeps? How was the party? All I have to say for myself is I enjoyed free day. I >< MIGHT have eaten half a large pizza with a liter of coke. I *might* have almost thrown up. But it was fun! That was really as bad as it got. The rest of the day was fairly clean :)

  • Hi Bay!! It sounds like you are feeling better this week, yay!  YumYum on the pizza! I had 3 pieces on my free day too, along with a big bowl of buttered popcorn later!!  Growing up, we'd always have movie-night on Saturdays and to this day I LOVE buttered popcorn...it's really the only thing I Iook forward to on my free days.

    Peeps....I hope you had a great time over the weekend.  Can you believe we're in week 6?!  I LOVE IT!

  • Hello Everyone,

    I am STILL sick! this sucks!!! I worked out Friday morning, felt really bad for everyone that was getting on the machines after me, I totally cleaned and sanitized them but I sounded like a dying bird! and I wasnt even doing cardio, I was doing legs.  Oh well, I havent been back to the gym sense.  Friday  night - no problem on the food side, ordered a salad for dinner, both myself and my friend wasnt feeling well so no club, thank god!!  Saturday I spent most of the day in bed.  I knew I  had volunteered to make an app for the surprise party so I ended up making a really healthy chili in some little edible bowls.  I contemplated not going at all but my husband dragged me out.  As you can imagine, sick all day Sunday and today.  I am really concerned about how this is going to affect my progress.  I am definitely going to make an effort to hit the gym tomorrow, and if I still have this 'thing' I am calling the dr.  Glad week 6 is here, halfway point, though I'm not sure that I havent set myself back an entire week, we'll see!

  • Oh no, Peeps, I thought you'd be feeling better by now! :-(  I think I'd go see the dr. too. He'll probably give you antibiotics and you will be feeling better soon. I wouldn't  push too hard on the exercises until your on the mend.  I hope you feel better soon!!

  • OH!! I thought you'd be better now too!!! Yea, I agree calling the doctor is a good idea. What a bummer. For sure don't push it until you're better. Just stick to eating clean. If I remember right weight loss is 80% Diet, 20% Exercise. I really hope you feel better soon!
