Busy mom starting Aug. 23

  • I'm in.

I tried BFL a couple years ago with so, so results...but then again I was putting out a so, so effort.  I am not really a morning person but I have scheduled out my weekday mornings for both cardio and strength training.

As I write this, sweat continues to run down the side of my temples.  I can't believe I actually woke up and worked out.  Anyway, I think I beat everyone here on the starting weight... 390!!  Yikes.  My goal for this next 12 weeks is to get under 330 or better.  My weight has really had a negative impact on my life and desires, so here we go.

  • Hi Melinda and all,

I am also starting today, this will be my first challenge.  My workouts will have to be in the evenings for now but as I progress I plan on trying to arange my schedule to do them in the morning.  You are all an inspiration to me and hopefully we can support each other through this 12 week journey.

    Good luck to all,

    Dan

  • Hi all!  I started working out Friday and started the diet yesterday so I am right with you all!  I'm 5' 6" ,  weigh 183 lbs. and I smoke.  I quit smoking last year, gained 40 lbs and started smoking again. I can not believe I got to this point.  I hadn't seen a gym in 20 years so it is really tough to see how out of shape I am.  My trainer wanted me to start with 20 min's on the elliptical and I couldn't even do 5 minutes.  Yesterday I couldn't do more than 3 minutes so I moved to the spinning bike, thinking it would be easier, but I was barely able to get 5 minutes on that.  It is so embarassing!  My goal is to lose 30 lbs in 12 weeks,  get to 25 minutes on the elliptical and quit smoking for good.  Then I plan on starting again until I get to 135 lbs. Good news is the foods are working out great so far - I am not at all hungry. I thought I was eating the right stuff before but when I looked at the calories I saw that I was consuming 2700 calories on a good day and I was hungry!  Yesterday I ate 1200 calories and I never felt hungry.  Good luck to all of you today!  It's nice to know I am not alone!

  • Melinda, I too am a busy mom and have let myself go.  I am also starting today, the 23rd.  I would love to go on this journey together!

  • Morning All, I'm starting today as well.  My wife just finished BFL with great results, and I told her I would like to join her the next time so here I am.  I'm in this to help get my eating habits in check.  I like my weight (5'10" @ 168) but would like to loose that layer of flap sitting on top of my body.  I also have some minor cholesterol issues that I'm hoping the cardio and good eating will fix.    I'm hoping to come out of BFL with 5% drop in Body fat and to add some inches in muscle.  How ever, I'm going to need some motivation, to keep from dropping back to eating nothing but crap...  I'll be working out 3 mornings for cardio around 5 ish, and then Monday, Wednesday, Friday I'll be lifting with a buddy here at work.  They have a built-in weight room here, so that works out well.

Good luck to everyone, can't wait to hear the success stories at the end!

  • Wow Corinne!!! You've come a long way, great results!!!  Keep up the great work!

  • Hope everyone had a great 1st day!  I did and I'm so excited for the next 12 weeks.  (when I have a bad day, you can all remind me of how excited I was on the first day)  : )

I'm actually surprised I'm this enthusiastic right now considering the clumsy day I'm having.  Normally it would have frustrated me but I'm kinda laughing, right now anyways.  I got up late but had a great UBWO, I'm eating clean all day and drinking my water.

How did you all do today???

  • Today was really hectic, first day of school! But, the good news is I did UBWO at 5:00 this morning woohoo!! Also, I ate pretty well, egg white omelet for B, veggie and lean ham wrap for lunch, fruit and low fat string cheese for snack, chicken and corn tortiillas for dinner and about 1/4 of guac, I will forgo that next time. I need to drink more water, oh yeah, and not one sweet...did I mention I'm addicted to them??!!

  • How was everyone's first day? I got a great workout in this am and then followed the sample menu for the first week from the web site. Drank all the required water and more - this is a challenge for me. So far so good.

  • First day today! I'm pretty proud of how it went so far. I ate really well and did lower body this evening. I typically shy away from working on free weights by myself at the gym. I always think people are judging or watchin me. But today I had to throw all of that out the window. If I am going to get through this plan this time, I am going to do it right. All those folks are at the gym for the same reason. :) Hope you all had a great day! Tomorrow is a step towards our goal!

  • Good job you guys!  I had a good day too.  Had a great workout but  I'm actually having trouble getting all 6 meals in.  I work on the road most days and can't figure out how to have the right foods with me.  Think I'll try to pack a cooler tomorrow.  Other than that, I'm just so psyched to be living in the solution rather than the problem!

  • Well, day one is in the history books.  All in all, went pretty well.  The work out was awesome, worked out upper body and I'm going to be sore tomorrow, butnit is a good sore.  The food part was the hardest, I'm a snacker by nature, and I didn't bring enough good food to work today, so I was starving tonight for dinner.  But, I still ate well.  The run starts tomorrow, going to do that 20 minute interval run tomorrow.  Should be interesting, haven't ran in about a year.  Wish me luck.  Good job everyone, sounds like everyones day one went well, have fun tomorrow guys!

  • Well my day got away with me, but I did my ubwo this evening.  Eating was ok, but was too busy to eat.   ( did I just say that? What is WRONG with me!) Planning on a better day tomorrow.  hmmmmmmmm bed and I do get my 8 hrs in !!!

  • Well, is everyone excited about the first day?

This is a very motivating time and this forum seems to be full of many more people like myself, than I imagined.

This is going to be a great ride.

  • Missed my scheduled morning cardio, but will make it up this afternoon.  My biggest challenge is going to be getting out of bed in the mornings!!  I am not a morning person at all.

Anyway, I did get a lot done yesterday and back on the horse today.
