you can find weights sometimes cheap in use stores.
Yes, if you have a store like "Play it Again Sports" around, they have good quality, gently used equipment for a steal. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd like to check out our local store for some adjustable dumbbells...
There's a girl out there warming up with your max.
I am a newbie and I think supporting each other is a great way to start and stay motivated!
Hey, everyone! Glad to see so many posts! I am back to work today after a week off, so I didn't get a chance to update my profile.
I have always tried to start losing weight on my own. This time, I have an army of motivated people to help me just as I will be here to help you! I figured I will have to do at least a couple of challenges before I reach my goal. In this challenge, I will work on my eating habits and overall health (and loose some lbs at the same time). It took more than 12 weeks to put it on, so it's gonna take more than 12 weeks to take it off!! Have a great Thursday!
More new faces! This is great! Welcome aboard!
Has anyone been trying any of the recipes? I find it incredibly easy to eat this way. I read a post from someone who said meals should include roughly 20g of protein and 20g of carbs, give or take. That's what I've been doing this week.
I think my favorite so far has to be the protein pudding recipe. I do it in the Magic Bullet (I love that thing) with ice for instant soft-serve. Also, I'm amazed at how good cottage cheese is with SF FF yogurt.
Well today was my first day of an upper body workout (yesterday was day 1 for me and I just did cardio). OMG my arms are still shaking! I just used 10# weights throughout all the exercises. For many of them it was a struggle at the end but for others I need to up it. I'm going to find our weights today (we just moved recently) and my hubby suggested just buying some new barbell poles and quick release ends. I'm going to take wannabeabrickhouses suggestion and try a used sports store.
I just finished eating an egg beaters southwestern style omelet with whole wheat toast! I'm so happy to be able to eat bread! I tried Atkins a few times and everytime I think of eggs I think BLECK! But with toast it's so much better! I'll have to give the cottage cheese w/ yogurt a try...sounds interesting!
Right now I'm having a half cup of LF cottage cheese with a cup of fresh blueberries as my midmeal. I added a sprinkle of Splenda and some nutmeg and cinnamon. Nom nom nom
wow - thanks Brickhouse - I just went to investigate the recipes ... there are a lot of yummy looking things ...I'll have to copy some of them down and add the ingredients to my grocery list! A good heads -up! :)
Are we getting psyched???? A few more days and we will officially be body-for-lifers!!!
My grocery list is in the works, and I am updating/filling out my journal. I am ready to go!!

I'm starting Monday too! Getting my menu and shopping list ready to go. I have gained alot of weight over the last 5yrs. I'm ready to live the BFL way and look and feel the way I want to. I used to love shopping and now it is something I dread having to do. Not to mention just being plain unhealthy! Cant wait to get started!
Hello everyone I will be joining all of you on the 16th kick start challenge. I signed up last night and came to work today and they were having a going away party for one or our co-workers,,,,not good,,,, I ate some bad stuff. But I am ready to put that behind me and start on Monday. I am very excited about the transformation process. I like the fact we will be able to support each other it will be very helpful and inspiring to cheer each other on. I think this will help me to stay focused on my goal. I don't have a lot of weight to lose , weight is only a number anyway, I would like to decrease my body fat and change my body shape so that my clothes will fit better and I will like the way they look.
I would like to know where do I find the exercise and nutrional protion of the contest. I don't know where to look. Can anyone help me?
Good luck everyone!!!
Hihi - count me IN!!
I did BFL in 2006, did great. But fell back to old bad habits and I'm about where I started in 2006. I'm ready to do it, do it right, and do it for good.
Looking forward to this group - we're gonna ROCK this challenge!!

very psyched!! same here!
Amyrn if you are looking for the progress reports, go to Library, then Tools. There are several items that look like they will be very useful. I hope this is what you were looking for.
If you download the Challenge Packet, there are also some sample meal plans categorized by your goals (i.e., weight loss, muscle gain, strength, etc.).
I haven't decided if I am officially entering the Challenge and submitting a packet or not. What are others doing?
I just had a scoop of EAS 100% Whey (chocolate) mixed into a 6 oz. cup os Strawberry Yoplait Lite. Nice combination and I'm pretty full! For a Friday, today will likely be a busy morning at the office for me, so I am bringing a Myoplex Lite RTD shake for my morning midmeal. My lunch is 4 oz. 98% fat free turkey *** on a whole wheat tortilla with about a tsp. of lower carb (Dinosaur brand) bbq sauce and lettuce. Late midmeal is 1/2 cup cottage cheese and a 6 oz. cup of blueberry Yoplait Lite. Dinner is up in the air, but will probably be pork tenderloin, grilled with Mrs. Dash, asparagus and a small sweet potato. Later on I will have some protein pudding whipped up int he Magic Bullet with ice for a nice soft serve treat.
I don't mean to bore anyone with my daily meal plan, but I want to put it out there in case someone can either learn from it or teach me something from it.
Have a wonderful Friday!
