August 9, 2010 Group!

  • Met my Brother-in-law at Wachusett Mtn in Central MA yesterday for a 2.5 hr hike.   Gorgeous views of the Boston skyline half way up the Mtn.... had a great LBWO this am and I'm feel stronger about the program and myself everyday.  Hitting the beach tomorrow with my wife after my cardio, can't wait love the beach!!!!

Hope all is well with the rest of the 8/9ers... Have a great WE finish out the week strong!

  • Hi Everybody!

Sorry to be a stranger. We had a death in the family that's taken me off track a bit. Haven't missed a workout, but the eating went pretty sideways for about a week and a half.

As a result, I'm debating whether to restart with the 9/3 group tomorrow. My scale weight is down about 5 lbs., but I think a lot of that's water as my measurements today weren't even quite as good as the end of the first week. I do think I see some improvement vs. the start photos I posted, but it may be wishful thinking at this point.

Nonetheless, I'm pleased with my participation in the program as I could have easily gained a lot of weight during this time!

    Best,

    Caryn

  • Hi Caryn -- Good for you, looking to the bright side of things, welcome back!

Well week 4 is drawing to a close, feel pretty good.  Have my occasional slip-ups, but trying not to lose my focus.  1/3 of the way there!  Clothes fitting better, the ultimate reward!

This site is pretty quiet now, anyone else still onboard?  Good luck to  all. Have a great, healthy weekend.

    Pam

  • Hi pam and everyone else im still here. nearly the end of week 4. my body is looking narrower and i feel great. The only bad thing now is my cravings. i want everything.....curry, cookies, sushi, EVERYTHING. But i resist i would never give in. I find that having a slightly bigger portion of a nice BFL meal at night, instead of giving into my craving helps alot. But i know it will go on sunday (free day) cos i will have it all. its just now wen there is only 1 day to go i just want to eat....lol..... i am averaging at a 1 pound weight loss per week which is great cos im quite small to begin with. I just hope i have the body i want at the end. thats wat is keeping me motivated. glad you are doing well.

There doesnt seem to be that many ppl left. lets finish the challange everyone who is left. enjoy your free day. I WILL BE! X

  • Hi, This is my first post, I started with you all though. I have been reading all your posts. I am actually doing very well, I've got my teenage boys eating healthy and excersizing too.  My rolls are disappearing! I am hoping that I can reach my goal in 2 challenges.

I am feeling soooo much better. I was so tired when I started that  I hated getting off the couch. I have so much more energy. I was really overwhelmed by how far I have to go to be in shape and how long it's going to take. But I am impressed with how good I feel and the progress I've made so far. Last week when I measured I was down about 5 inches and my boys were down about the same. We are all quite out of shape unless you consider round a shape:)

Anyway I just wanted to check in and let you know I'm here.

  • hi tmgdreamsm glad to see you have joined us dont think there is many left. glad to hear your doing so well and your sons. welcome to the forum. 5 inches is amazing well done to you all. keep us updated it would be great to hear how you progress. are you on your free day tomorrow. i am cant wait. gonna be a brilliant delicious day lol. keep it up anyway. its all gonna be worth it x

  • hey everyone,

I too am still on program. I'm actually surprised how fast 4 weeks have gone bye.  I stopped weighing myself after week 1 and will not step on the scale until the end of the challenge.  I can tell you that my clothes are def fitting me better and I feel great.  Had a little setback yest while on a hike with my wife, I rolled my ankle pretty bad but I will continue to do my cardio on the stationary bike until the ankle feels better.  Hope everyone is doing well and sticking to their goals.  Going by the posts of people who have finished their 12 weeks the best gains are yet to come..... hope everyone has a good week 5

  • Hey George,

Keep up the great work......I am so proud of you.  Let that ankle heal so we can get back to our hikes.

    Love your wife,

    Denise

  • Yes, our free day!  The first week of the challenge I basically had to force myself to take the day off,  now it's hard not to go off the deep end and splurge all day.  What is going on?

New schedule this week school starts for the kids. I wonder what to pack in their lunches:protien and carbs(fruit & veges) . How will they be able to eat every 2 hours or so? Any advise?

  • Great job, everyone. Keep up the hardwork.

    Shannon

  • So nice to hear from everyone still on track!  Emma, your slow but steady progress sounds like the smart way to go.... I know I jumped out fast the first week, but have slowed down since then, and now in Week 5 finding myself a bit lower in the motivation dept. but still hanging in there.... The routine does become habit I am finding, with both food and exercise.

Went out last night with my "steady" and until 5 weeks ago we were pretty regularly in restaurants, eating whatever and ordering nice bottles of wine.  Seemed nice, but two years later I found (and saw) my body wasn't reacting all that well!  Anyway, we both look a lot better now, and have had fun planning and cooking many healthy meals at home.  We find now when we go out it is hard to find and/or request healthy meals, and they never taste as good as those we cook ourselves.  A nice change.

tmgdreamsm -- nice to hear from you!  Keep up the good work, and stay off that couch!

And George -- hope your ankle is better.  Nice to have a supportive spouse helping you out!

Good luck all, I am looking ahead to the end of Week 6, taking those 1/2-way-point photos!

    Pam

  • Thanks Pam,

I have to say my wife has been amazing in her support of the program.  It started with her helping make sure I had the right foods in the house to now she has started her own 12 week challenge.  Her and I have always walked together in the past (when our work schedules allowed) but now we are both getting up and doing our WO in the AM b4 work and it couldn't be more motivational to have a workout partner and to be able to follow each others progress.  I am also finding that with having good foods in our house our 14 yr old son is also eating healthier and we are setting a good example for him to realize how important it is to take care of your body.  5 weeks in and I couldn't have hoped to feel better both physically and mentally.  To date I haven't missed a WO and I've been true to the food plan 100%.

I hope everyone has a good end to week 5 and just think 1 more week and we are halfway there!  Keep moving forward !!!!

BTW if it helps anyone I have found that changing up my excercises a little starting week 5 made a huge difference in things not getting stale ... good luck to all

    George

  • hi philly, pam, tmgdreamsm caryn and shannon. glad your all still here. how has your 5 weeks been. im doing well. another pound off this week. now 9st 3 lbs. i feel great. im wearing a pair of jeans today that i bought 2 years ago but never wore because my 'relaxed muscle' would hang over lol. but not today. fit perfect.

hope your all enjoying your free day. my partner is cooking be a yummy homemamde lasagne with garlic bread tonight and im having a cheeck bit of wine. but hey im earning it right......?

well please keep out link updated il like hearing from you all it is encouraging. hopefully on week 12 we can all post our before and afters.........

good luck for week 6 x lets kill it no pain no gain!!!

  • Hey Emma, great job!

Can't believe it's Week 6!!! (Yes, actually, I can ....) Yeah, almost halfway there!  Motivated to do well this week, take new pics this coming weekend.  Went a bit overboard yesterday (last night), free day, makes me feel worse today and I guess that's part of the point, isn't it -- feel so much better eating the "clean eating" way.  Newly motivated today.  Good LBWO this morning.

Here's a great link on YouTube someone emailed this morning, it is so fun and happy, check it out:  To Life:  Vanessa's Wedding Surprise.  A "feel good" video, tho unrelated to our weight loss efforts.... We'll all have to make a BFL YouTube video when we are through, ha!

Have a great day, all.  Go out and conquer.

    Pam

  • hi pam,
