Here I am Rene!
Sounds like everyone had a great first day :) I can't believe how many team members we have!
I planned on doing my workout early this morning, but I was so tired from traveling all day yesterday, I opted to sleep until my kids woke up. I did get my workout in later in the afternoon. I did it at home vs. the gym (which is where I would have gone had I gotten up at 5am). My 4 year old helped me workout by counting reps for me. I know I got a good workout in, but it was a bit distracting having her there. I definitely prefer going to the gym.
Eating the 6 small meals doesn't seem to be a challenge for me. I love that I can get a chocolate fix everyday with my Myoplex Lite RTD :)
Ready for a good nights sleep & a great cardio workout tomorrow.
Have a great workout everyone!
Eat well, be strong & live life to the fullest!
Hi Guys! Im from Scotland UK, i started another thread about starting mon 21st.
Im joining you guys here on the DREAM TEAM though, if thats cool with you?
Day two, Cardio on the bike was great this morning! I have so much more energy throughout the day now!, although, i get pretty tired about 9pm ish, but thats cool that gives me plenty rest.
Im not even craving the free day.... yet;)
Its cool though, i just make a note of anything im craving then buy it all on sat night, and eat like a horse on sun, i dont even eat it all so it keeps till next week! (but i have to get my girlfriend to hide it all though;))
Keep up the good work everyone!
I Feel great! Peice of cake! (no not for me thanks, ill have to wait till sunday). Now thats will power.lol
Very cool everyone!!
Lori-You are SO awesome! That's one of the hardest things for me to do is go off track and then get right back on, that's a challenge inside of this challenge for me. As long as I keep going and can avoid temptation I'm good. I don't know if I can partake in the free days though. I'm definitely scared that the one piece will send me overboard. Once I've got a good momentum going I can do it. But I have to detox myself again for a month or so before I can get it back!
Welcome Scotland Steve! I ALMOST wish I were where you are right now!
You can choose the pain of discipline or the pain of regret...
Day one went pretty well. I did the upper body work-out. I had to start off with less weight than I would like due to the fact that I have fibromyalgia and my body hurts pretty much all of the time anyway!! I'm hoping to find a natural remedy for this illness. I have to take cymbalta for it now and it has made me gain about 20 lbs since I started taking it last year! I'm hoping to increase my muscle mass to combat the weight gain from the medicine. I actually worked my tri-ceps in the pool by putting my hands on the side of the pool and lifted and lowered my body out of the water to work those muscles. I had to do a lot more than 12 reps to feel it, but I did it until I really felt it!
I feel that my biggest obstacle is going to be changing my evening habits!! My husband and I usually have a couple of drinks after dinner while we are watching TV to unwind and relax. It also helps me sleep which is a problem for me with the fibromyalgia. I know that this habit is most likely adding to my belly fat. Not good!!! But, last night I did not have any drinks after dinner and had green tea instead. Yeah me! Although I did not sleep as well last night, I am hoping it gets easier as I go on. One day at a time right?!?
I wish you all the best of luck and thanks for all the posts. I read them every morning and they help me stay on track the rest of the day!
Thanks for the warm welcome! I take it you mean mentally? You really dont want to be in Scotland, although its really hot here (for us) for a change!
You should definately do the free day though, you will more than likely crack within two weeks if you dont satisfy your cravings. The will slowly slump back into bad habits.
I done the BFL 5 years ago and was in the best shape of my life, mentally and physically, and you wouldnt believe how much crap i used to eat on the sunday throughout the program, and still lose fat and gain muscle.
Seriously, i would get up and eat a pack of muffins for breakfast, prepacked ham&cheese sandwich, Mcdonalds Big Mac Meal Large with a milkshake and an extra cheeseburger, pizza hut for dinner, then loads of chocolate for binging at night to watch some movies. You deserve it after eating great and working out every day for 6 days.
It doesn't undo the work you have done, it actually tricks your body into thinking its not being starved so it wont burn your muscle cells instead of fat!
I think? .................... i dont know, all i know is im gonna eat as well, and train as hard as possible till saturday, then binge for a day! (youll find you physically cant binge as much as you want to) then get back on the horse on Monday. Repeat 12 times, then say hello to the new you!
I forgot to post earlier that I did my cardio this morning at 6:30! I again rolled myself out of bed but I kept waking up WELL before 6:15 thinking that it was time to go to the gym. I can't wait to get that addicted feeling back again. I used to be so addicted to working out but I didn't eat 6 times a day but I DID feel a difference in my body. I stopped because I didn't see the scale moving. I am SO glad I found this board because now I realize more than ever (although I've heard it before) that the scale does NOT matter AT ALL.
Stephanie- you are DEFINITELY an inspiration if you can do it with your medical condition and power through that gives us all a reason to push through also. Thank YOU!!
Good luck for the rest of the your "days" :)
Well day 2 down for me done the cardio ate the meals all good so far, lower body tomorrow good luck with it all!!!
I am so glad to see everyone in this together. We are doing so well!
I went to a gym near my house yesterday to join. I set up an appointment for a trainer to help me with my workouts and machines. I have an upper body workout appt tonight at 7 and the lower body workout appt is tomorrow night at 7. Therefore, I had to begin with cardio last night. It was great! I got on the treadmill and started at 5.5mph. I up-ed it by 0.5 every minute to 7.5, then back down to 5.5. It was an awesome run! I am really looking forward to my appointment tonight. It was such a challenge for me to set up these appointments because I have never liked gyms, especially the weight training part of it. I am already seeing myself grow mentally and physically!
After one day in I can already see a big challenge for me is going to be alcohol. I have a pool and my husband and I like to do margaritas or beer when we are laying out or swimming. We don't have any kids and lots of friends. So we have the "party" house. Will wine work? Or is it no alcohol at all? Yesterday I didn't drink at all by the pool and actually did some exercises in the pool!
Good luck everyone! Keep working hard!
I definitely agree with taking that free day! If not, you will eventually CRACK!! You deserve a reward for all of your hard work. You need to reward yourself! And it is completely true about tricking your metabolism! I have done this before.....after my last child, nine years ago.....and it DOES NOT undo all your hard work. It gives you something to look forward to. What I would do is make a list throughout the week of what ever you are craving. The day/evening before your free day, go get those items and enjoy them on your free day! After a while you will automatically crave less things and eat less of the things you are craving. I didn't believe it either at first, but it is completely true.
What I seem to have a problem with is beging a stay at home mom for the first time......ever! I am at home all day with access to the kitchen (food) and I love to cook. I am always baking for my husband and kids. It's hard not to eat out of bordom. It's very hot here in South Carolina and it's hard to make myself go outside for a walk to get away from the kitchen when it is over 100 degrees outside.....105 degrees w/heat index yesterday!! I am now trying to get back into reading to keep myself from being bored!
Good luck everyone and don't give up. We all have our set backs, but we have to look at the big picture and keep moving forward with a positive outlook. Fake it 'til you make it is my motto!!! LOL!!
Day 2-Cardio was great. Eating a delicious breakfast while online.
Suenos096 and scotland steve-I started out LOVING free day and giving in to everything. Everyone needs to splurge once in awhile. but i found its hard to recover. During my last challenge, i felt like it took 3 days just to get back what I lost from the 1 day of eating! So i try (doesn't always happen) to just have a free meal or a free snack and not go overboard-it really helps. It just kind of happened about half way through, I didn't really want or need it as much as I did in the beginning.
Stephanie-WOW. You are so strong! Keep it up and good choice on the green tea. That is what i drink when i just want something other than water.
A great day to all! I have to go figure out what I'm making for dinner.
Becca- way to go on making those appointments. It took awhile for me to get comfortable with the gym because I didn't feel like I knew what I was doing and the free weight area was all men-no offense scotland steve- but it is a little intimidating! Now I feel much more comfortable.
I think BFL specifically calls for no alcohol. From my understanding, your body will stop metabolizing fat to metabolize the alcohol first, so not only is it extra calories, but it slows your body's fat burning ability. I know it is hard! I used to be a big evening wine drinker, but try to save it for free day if you can. Try a glass of iced tea? Hope this helps and enjoy your weightlifting sessions!
I just finished my protein pancakes...mmmmmm. I don't know why, but I cannot get over those. Anyhow, had a GREAT workout this morning and I am excited to get the day going. It feels so good going to the gym with a purpose!
If anyone is having trouble with drinking the large amounts of water I suggest going to Bed Bath and Beyond or Wal-Mart to get the 2.2 liter Water-U jugs. It is the daily recommended amount of water in one big jug. Ever since I bought one I can easily drink all my water during my 7 hour work day and even drink more when I get home throughout the evening. I love my jug! It's awesome!
Oh it's not that I don't believe it will work. It's just that I know how easy it is for me to fall off. I can stay focused and eat clean for a very long time, it's the going off that always gets me in trouble even when I plan to go back to eating right. It just doesn't happen as I plan it. In a month or so of detoxing, it will be easier for me to have a free day than it is now. I don't generally crave anything except vodka and if I drink that then forget it! LOL I MIGHT try it this Sunday and see how it goes.
I meant physically Steve! LOL It's WAY too hot for me here :) Not to mention I've always wanted to visit Scotland. Although your winters are WAY to cold for me! LOL
Good Morning Everyone!
Wow, I am so impressed with how many people are back here again today! You all rock!
If I didn't have everyone here, I am not sure I would be able to do this. My husband and stepson can eat everything and not gain a pound and I fell into that trap. Now I have to lose all of the weight I have gained because I have been eating like them.
