I am going to take 2 weeks of active rest then start again as well. I would love to join or stay with anyone that is planning the same.
Hey guys! Plugging along this week.... just enjoying the progress.... it's important to remember that we didn't put the weight on overnight, so we just have to keep moving forward...I plan to do another 12 weeks pretty soon after this one ends. I encourage everybody to set a date now... otherwise a lot of time will pass and it might be hard to sustain the gains. I will probably shoot for 1 week off.
Reneinid - soooo glad you are sticking with us! :o) so, so so happy. Also, really like the staircase analogy.
Jen4Life - I am with you to start on the 27th! I am taking two weeks off of BFL and doing mega cardio because I am going to do a half marathon on the 25th of september and need to take a break from the weight training for the 2 weeks and focus on the cardio. I will stick with the eating 6x/day though...that is totally working for me.
ended up doing LBWO this morning because I had to head out of town to a hotel that only has cardio machines. I got The Women's Health big book of exercises - LOVE it!!! For those of you sick of doing the same quad exercises, ab exercises and want some good glute exercies - this is the book. (there's a men's version, too). anyway, it is GREAT!!!!!!! i tried the goblet squat (google it!) and loved it.
have a great day 59 tomorrow!!!!!!
Hi dream team! I started the challenge 2 weeks ago at 290 pounds. After 8 days I was at 282 pounds.I kept the workout and nutrition by the book.
(For girls and coaches, only. After this I had to stop because of TOM in order not to injure myself, I know some women athlets use lighter weights, but others push even harder, I almost hurt myself so I decided to just take it easy for few days)
But I felt so powerful in the start thinking I will never quit and now I will just take it easy knowing that during the 152 days=84x3 times =3 challenges of 12 weeks as I want to do I will have to take it sometimes push harder and sometimes just to take it easy in order to be able to continue.
I'm not typical average weight so this counts a lot. I will not be able to see the perfect results only after 12 weeks so I have to keep my determination during 1 year.
It helped me to read a post of someone else, a Body For Life Champion, about taking active rest between challenges. Well, I'll practice it even between weeks of the challenge. Sorry to be so slow but this is me, I've tried but better to do it slowly than not doing it at all. During active rest times I will keep the nutrition and do only light cardio as others said it gives the best results.
Alexana 2009 Champion Michelle Simpson was 300# when she started BFL. You are doing one of the most important things according to her and that is setting realistic goals. She is very inspirational. She is Champster09 on here. If you eat BFL clean during Active Rest, you will continue to make progress.
Hi All...still plugging away! Thanks for being here.
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!
Just checking in on everybody. I'm having a great week... so glad Reneinid is staying in it with us!
Had a great moment yesterday... a friend at the gym looked at me and said "you look fabulous. i mean, you always look good, but you look really fabulous". Then, at 2:00 this morning, my husband finally came home (he has been away at school for the last 8 weeks) and he said "wow, you are totally ripped!)... Those moments make it all worth it.... Sometimes it takes a while to get there, but don't get discouraged, because if you stick with it, your moment will come... but if you quit, that moment won't ever arrive.
Congrats rockstar! That's great news you are getting noticed- it feels awesome, right?
lex120- I am going to try goblet squats tomorrow! woo hoo!
rene- glad you're sticking it out!
I can't believe we are almost through with 9. I am really wanting to finish this challenge so I get on to challenge 2 where the real toning can happen! how's everyone feeling?!
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten!
My FOURTH Challenge: May 23-Aug. 14, 2011. Began First BFL Challenge on June 21, 2010
Tomorrow is going to be my free day. I am going to a corn roast where alcohol and food are abundant. Spending the night and hoping Sunday I can start to get back on track, but breakfast will probably be bad. What ever happens I know that I will be back on track Monday!! I hope everyone has a great weekend.
I have started to notice the weight loss. I am concerned that I am getting a lot of jiggle in my butt and legs. I hope with continued exercise this will start to go away!
Everyone still in the game?! I am. Loving it. Check in and say good morning if you can!
Im still here......... in a way.......... kinda?
Okay, so confession time; Last week, i didnt excercise once, i didnt eat good at all! I skipped meals and made tons of bad choices, i even pigged out on a few occasions when i shouldnt have. I think it would be safe to say i had a free WEEK!
I am extremely dissapointed in myself, i gained 5lbs in a week! Thats how easy it is to put the weight back on people, and i'll tell you, putting on weight (FAT) is easy, not just easy, but enjoyable! Thats why its bad though right?
So week 10? not really for me, ill be counting this week as week 9 again, although i am not too concerned as i have planned on doing the challenge for 15 weeks from the start as after the 12 weeks, i go on holiday 3 weeks after to dominican republic for 2 weeks. The hotel has a gym! ..but it also has 3 24 hour all you can eat buffet's.... uh-oh! Its fine though i will enjoy myself for 2 weeks, of active rest, then star challenge 2 as soon as i get back.
Im glad so many of you are still here, posting and sticking to the challenge, it definately makes me feel guilty when i read the posts and i think, 'i wont post today as i have just ate a pizza which was great!' im sure you would all love to hear about that.
I should just end by saying, i am back on track this week! Cardio done this morning and 3 meals done!
Raaaaaargh! Go Dream TEam!!!!!!
Hi all....yup, i'm still here. week 10!!!! had a good lower body this morning. used my free day yesterday, but it's getting less and less exciting as i really enjoy bfl meals. had some french fries yesterday and my body wasn't too happy with me.
i need some advice! I will be attending a conference this week (Wed through Friday). It starts at 7 am and goes until really late (10 pm). They are providing breakfast and lunch. I think there will be some decent options (eggs for breakfast i hope) and even lunch maybe deli sandwiches. not THE best options, but ok. What about my inbetween meals? I hate to have to eat 3 myoplex lite bars a day or even mixing up bars...because that just gets old. what else do people eat that doesn't need to be refridgerated that i can eat in a group setting? I love the tuna packs, but busting that out in the middle of the meeting would be awkward...and smelly!
and oh...what to do if the lunches aren't decent???!!! we will be working through lunch i think so it's not like i can run out and get a salad....argh!!!
help me, please! :o) Thanks, Dream Team!!!!
lex120 what about the ready to drink drinks? I have drank one of those at room temperature, not great, but it got me through that meal. I have even stuck one in freezer to get extra cold, but not frozen at all, wrapped it in a couple of paper towels and stuck it in my purse. It worked well. It was still cool. I usually do that and the bars, but I rarely have those kind of situations, so it's not a big deal for me. :o) Most of my other options require a cooler with blue ice, which I can usually take, just don't think from what you said that's an option for you.
About lunch, just make the best choices of what they do have. I know most of these meetings seem to have some healthy options too.
Team, I am here. I have fallen off the wagon, but still here. I seem to be able to get all my workouts in... but my food intake is out of control. How does sneaking one mini candy bar lead to three or four? And, then I feel sick to my stomach. Because I am still working out, I have not gained any weight, but I think about how much farther I would be if I could get my eating under control. I plan on continuing after this. I think I read that a couple of you were continuing too? Count me in and hold me more accountable. Anyone worried with the holidays approaching?
Hey Dream Team,
I'm still here as well! My internet has been acting up so even though I've been getting the post, I haven't been able to get online to post myself! Anyway, yeah, last week simply SUCKED! Can I say that on this board? Food wise I didn't too badly but I only worked out the first 2 days of the week and didn't do any of the mental work either.... but get this - I lost a pound! HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN??
Anyway, school started this week so am in a new routine. My kids are all going to public or as I say "institutional" school for the very first time in their lives! So, My hubby asked me last night as we were going to bed at 11:30 and I was complaining that I won't be able to get up at 4 am going to bed this late, he asks, " Now that the kids are in school why don't you work out after you drop them all off?"
"No," I replied, "Messes up with the eating schedule." But I did today because I overslept till 5:30 and didn't have time. So I swam midmorning before my snack. I got a cramp on the right side- didn't someone say that meant I'm not drinikng enough water?
Ok so now to catch up...
lex120 - why don't you bring a small ice chest you know the lunch size and keep a few cottage cheese and oranges in it? Also, they have individual snack size nuts with almonds and walnuts. Unfortunately I have found I am allergic to walnuts like that. I buy the South Beach approved PLANTERS mixed nuts with cashews, almonds and macadamia and then put them into "snack" size plastic bags. Also the low fat mozerella cheese sticks would be good. If anyone asks, I simply tell them I'm diabetic and I need to eat every 3 hours. (I was gestational diabetic with the last one which is one of my big WHYS).
Steve- DONT BEAT YOURSELF UP!! YOU ARE STILL IN THE GAME! One thing that is helping me is knowing that this is kind of my "test" run challenge; so I keep asking myself " ok what am I going to do better next time?"
For me, I think somewhere when we all had a horrible week on week 5, someone posted a champion saying week 5-9 are hard - but I'm thinking what was meant to be said is WEEK 5 AND WEEK 9 are hard.
For me, what has been discouraging is the fact that I have only lost 5 lbs - and my goal is to lose 100 lbs in 4 challenges! But God is good and this week end as I was waiting for my son at the hairstylists, I was reading SHAPE about a gal who lost 105 lbs and it took her 3 years. She said she wanted to loose more quickly but she learned that slow and steady she would still get there. So that was MY LESSON. Maybe it'll take 6 challenges to lose the amount I want! All I know is that I am making progress and having an influence on those around me! My teenager tried a myoplex shake this AM with 42 grams of protein since he was so starved at school yesterday. I told both my big kids- cereal is too much carbs you are going to have an energy drop around 10:30 or 11:00 if you don't fill up with protein. Unfortunately it's against school rules to carry any food around otherwise I offered to give my son one of my myoplex protein bars for between class.
Ok so those who want to carry on- here's my plan -
I'm taking 2 weeks off for active rest and starting again on Sept. 27th. That will end us I think Dec. 17th or 18th - giving us another 2 weeks of active rest during the holiday season before Jan 3rd for the next challenge which ends Mar 27th and then only 1 week break starting April 4th to end June 26th - almost exactly a year from this first challenge.
Confusing? Here's the dates I've figured out:
CHALLENGE #2: Sept. 27 - Dec. 17
CHALLENGE # 3: JAN 3 - MAR 27
CHALLENGE #4 APR 4- JUN 26
Maybe by challenge #4 I will actually take my before and after pics and REALLY enter the challenge!!
ok gotta go get housework done!
Sorry this is so long.
Have a great week!
