1st day!

  • OK So I started My challenge today! I tried this a few years ago and just didn't stick with it and this time I'm really determined that I'm going to. My workout went OK, It's amazing how weak I am but I made it through the full upper body workout and am looking forward to seeing my strength go up. My eating went OK too, I wasn't able to fit in the full 6 meals today. I was Very busy with My 3 year old daughter's birthday today and I have a 5 month old son who is also in need of lots of attention so I was busy :) However, I'm glad that I started and If anyone needs a support buddy be sure to send me an e-mail! Good Luck All!

  • Welcome!! If it is possible, try to get your workouts done in the morning before the little ones get up, that way it is out of the way first thing...Plan, Plan, Plan is key to success!! Best Wishes on your journey!!!

    Blessings :)

DebMO :0)           Blessed to be a Blessing...

  • Congratulations on the start of an incredible journey! DebbieMO is right...planning is key. You need to get those 6 meals in. Try 2 hours apart for the first 3 and 3 hours apart for the last 3. It's imperative that you fuel your body properly. Don't forget your water and HIIT your workouts and cardio hard. Oh, don't forget to get plenty of sleep too.

You're off to a great start!

    Keep the faith!

  • Hi,

I started today too! Good luck to you. So far, today went well. It does take some getting used to eating 6 times a day, might have to set an alarm or something :)

My challenge for tomorrow will be getting up early when it's dark and cold to do my cardio, (running). But it can be done, right? :) I only have myself to take care of, and you have two little ones! You can do it though, I know you can.

  • Josephine ~

There is a roll call forum that a wonderful lady named Aussie Debs posts everyday. It sure does help us all feel the mental accountability. Post your start date on there and you will watch your name slowly grow to the 12 week mark. Amazing feeling!

    Stay strong!

    Keep the faith!

  • My first day was yesterday and I am really feeling sore today. I hurt in places I didn't know I had.

I chose dumbell bench, dumbell military shoulder press, lat pulldowns, alternating bicep curls, and behind head dumbell tricep skullcrushers. For a couple of the reps ie the final 12X weight I hit a wall around 6 reps and found that I had to divide the remaining six reps into another set. I did all of them but not all 12 at once...I also worked out for the first time in nearly 10 years.  I hope to lose 2 pounds per week for the 12 weeks and then reevaluate my goals. That is to go from 280 pounds to about 256. I am not sure if I am pushing myself too hard or not enough. I just really want this to work. I am tired of being out of breath as I chase after my son. I am tired of diabetic medicine. I am tired of the lackluster unfulfilling sex life...this is why I must change. I turn 30 in 2 weeks and thought it was time to wake up.

  • I wanted to ask for advice on how to be successful. I work 630 pm (night) to 630 am (morning) so I am essentialy reverse of every normal person. How should I structure my workouts and diet plan to accomodate this new lifestyle...of working out and eating 6 times a day...before I would just wake up go to work and not eat and get off work and go to Mcdonalds on a mad binge eating spree...loading up on my daily allowance of 3500 calories and then start all over again....I need and want a plan because Bil says if you fail to plan you plan to fail. ANy help and encouragement you can give me as I go out on this fine day 2 of the program would be appreciated.

  • Rob: I saw this question earlier, and myself was hoping somebody would chime in for you. I cant let the sun set without putting in my 2 bits because I want to see you succeed. For you.

I used to do shift work and it is the devil! on a body. It looks like you do nights alot, so my thinking is, just make that your normal. Do your cardio and workout BEFORE you go to work, just like the rest of us do that work day shifts. If you plan your 6 meals and eat every 2.5 - 3 hours, your insulin will not be spiking and those crazy adventures to the "M" place (shhhhh!) will be all in your past. In a few days of clean eating, working out, sleeping well, you will recognize how good it feels to eat well. Your body will actually crave the proteins and fruits as opposed to the grease and fat you consume at times now. You may experience funny withdrawls of sugar the first few nights and may be restless. Your body will start changing and metabolizing differently after day one. DAY ONE!. The important thing is to start a momentum going and keep putting good days back to back.

It isnt easy. It requires you to dig deep as to why you want to do this. Why THIS time, Robert will make it work. You can do this Robert. One day at a time.

I hope this helps you continue with your goals. :)

  • Thank You:) I would Love to get my workouts done in the morning, however it is nearly impossible unless I get up at around 3:30 in the morning. You see, I don't get to bed until the earliest 10 because of all of the things I need to do in the evening with getting my kids and husband dinner and the kids bathed/bedtime routine and then cleaning up, etc. etc. and then my son who is only five months old cries quite a bit during the night for his pacifier so I am up and down out of bed pretty much every 20 mins.-30 mins until he gets up for the day around 6am. I get up at 5 to make my husband's lunch for the day and breakfast before he leaves and so my dilemma is that it gets incredibly busy in the am and pm and during the day I'm taking care of my kids:) I did fit in going to the gym last night from 8-9:30 but didn't get to bed until 12:30 and up throughout the night and up for the day at 5:00 so I'm seeing a long day ahead of me. I'm wondering how the lack of sleep is going to affect this as well because I know how important that is for your body to recover. Anyways, I'm not sure that this makes sense, lol. One more thing is that I go to the local YMCA and they don't have childcare until 8:45am, I LOVE working out early in the am, but I'm not sure it's going to be possible until my son is a little bit older, until now my workouts are going to have to be done wherever I can squeeze them in.

I hope your challenge is going well. How far along are you in the challenge?

  • Howdy Sulsar, Robert and Jackson - sorry I missed you all on the first day.

Sulsar - you poor love, you have your hands full don't you...  Have you thought about sitting down with hubby telling him how important this is for you right now and ask him for his support by seeing if he will compromise 3 mornings a week where he makes his lunch and gets his breaky (weight mornings) - the other 3 you can hopefully squeeze 20 minutes of cardio in whilst the kids sleep - you can do it with a jump rope at home or using steps if you have any... so you wouldn't need the gym for that....

We all wish you well and hope you can work it into your busy day somehow. take care - Debs - C3 and 1 year of eating clean.

  • Hi Aussie-Debs,

My husband is very supportive. I like to do that stuff for him to help him get ready. He drives over an hour each way for work so he gets out of bed and pretty much has to run out the door. He was just transferred to a job close by. You see he is an electrical lineman and he so he gets moved around and travels alot. I've only had him back home for a week and a half so far because he's been working too far away to come home at night and was only here on the weekends. I'm really not complaining about anything that I have going on. I am very blessed with all that I have with my husband and kids I just need to find a way to schedule my stuff in there with theirs:)

Thank you for taking the time to write and for the encouragement:) How long have you been doing this program?

  • Okey Dokey, gotchya - well pat yourself on the back for even thinking about doing this for yourself - it all begins with a thought and if you keep an open mind and the desire strong, you will find a way to make it work.

I've just finished one year of BFL - 3 challenges - feel fantastic, look fantastic - lifes good mate - very good. I just put a couple of pics up on my home page - just click on my avatar and have a look. Cheers - debs
