My name is Michael Dugan 39, from Pittsburgh, PA. I was given the BFL book a few years ago by a friend, and recently found it again when I was cleaning. HAHA. I am currently 312lbs, down from 341 about 7 weeks ago. I have been eating pretty similar to the BFL diet plans, and it may sound funny, but I have been training to run a 5k with my son. My son has cystic fibrosis, and running will do nothing but improve his lung health. So, in order to get him going, I will run with him. Well, actually very far behind him, but I am doing my best.
I am sure that there are a lot of people here that have been doing this, and have succeeded. Is this something for me? Am I too heavy to start something like this? I have looked at a lot of the photos, and I really haven't seen anyone my size. Is there a reason for that? I have no problems making this committment. Actually, it will be a welcomed challenge, since I have already made up my mind to do something now. I turn 40 in 8 months, and quite frankly, I am getting scared. Any input would greatly be appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you all.
Mike
Hey Mike,
YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY DO THIS! At my absolute worst I was 312lbs. With a combination of an extremely physical new job and jogging I had lost almost 60 lbs but after my body got used to the work I stopped jogging and not changing my eating habits the weight came back quick.. I was back at 262lbs and climbing and like you whilst moving I found my BFL book too and re re re re read it again. I tried 3 times prior over the last 10 years before trying it again January of last year..I made my mind up to finish one complete challenge this time around.. here I am nearly 19 months later and My life has changed for the better completely! All aspects socially work everything.. when you feel good about yourself it projects in everything that you do.. It's gonna be rough really REALLY ROUGH your gonna fall we all do I did many times over, the difference is just not to give up! As the book states you truly are more capable of what you think, mour inds are out worst enemy but can also be our best friends too.. Its all a matter of attitude.. You have come to a great place for support and insight alot of us that have finished can relate to the pains that will come with change so feel free to message me anytime. To be quite honest if I hadn't found this place I don't know if I would've lasted, get on a thread keep yourself accountable if you cant with family or friends you can here we are all fighting the same fight! I would be more than happy to help in any way that I can.
Just for reference This is me pushing about 285 in this picture.. So I still gained nearly 30lbs after this was taken I had pictures of when I was in the 300+ range but my HD crashed and this is all I have left..
Me now: I have done 5 challenges to get to where I am today I have since moved on to different types of workouts since finishing my C5 but still follow BFL eating and I will for the rest of my life..
If I can do this Mike so can you.. again if I can help you please let me know.. my prayers go out to your son as well.. and I applaud you for doing what you are doing to be by his side.. much aloha to you.... Kaina
Wow..you look great bud..and thank you so much for your wisdom, help and prayers. I appreciate it.
I have the determination. I've made up my mind. I will be here more and more.
SAAAWEEEETT!! GO GET IT!
