How can i maintain discipline and not eat cookies!

  • Been doing BFL on & off for 6 months and i am happy to say have lost 10 kilos but this last month i keep loosing a couple of kilos then putting on a couple of kilos. I had 2 babies and finding it hard now as not much time and i feel knackered. Whenever i am stressed i eat sugary stuff and my diet is then spoilt after a day of healthy eating. Annoying. Before having kids i managed to do BFL and almost made it to my ideal transformation ( injury impeded the last few weeks and then i just lost the dedication to the programme). Its the closest i have been to feeling optimal health so i know this works. I just need to drop 2 dress sizes (7kg) and tone my muscles but i am just not able to maintain the discipline for a whole week so yo-yoing. Any inspirational tips to keep me on track?

  • Out of sight and out of mind. Do not keep anything sugary or sweet in your house. Find something healthy yet sweet to eat when you have the urge.

  • Get it out of the house.  No-one in your family needs it.  If it's not there, you can't eat it.  Find other ways to deal with stress.  Working out does wonders for my stress level.  Try to get your workout in early in the day, if you can; it sets the bar for being "good" the rest of the day.  If you crave those foods at night, then brush your teeth and gargle right after dinner; nothing tastes good then.

    Most importantly, BELIEVE in yourself; you are worth it and you can do this!

  • I keep at least 4 flavors of gum on hand in my purse!  tastes like dessert but very little calories

  • Thanx for your reply.I have 2 small kids now. I never used to have the sugary stuff b4. i now have a 'naughty' cupboard from which i occassionally give them to my kids. I've stuck my starting photos there but when i loose my focus i just dive in there. It doesnt help that i feel stuck and not progressing in the transformation. I like your quote and I will write it next to my photos. Thanx.

  • thanx for your reply. Its true what you say about working out in the am. I am not a morning person but when i last did BFL in 06 i remember it actually made me feel great for the rest of the day. I was fitter then so i need to get back to that. I will brush my teeth after my meals. thanx for your tips.

  • Howabout an alternative food that is sweet somewhat but good for you at night  like cottage cheese, small portion with some fruit in it like pineapple. (the brushing and gargling will also work, I do believe). Or perhaps a chocolate or vanilla Myoplex shake (the new version available in Target has only 100 calories but 15 grams of protein)

  • and thanx optigirl for your tip too!

  • thanx for your tips. i will have this as a snack.

  • Davs,

    I've found a few strategies that have helped me stay clean throughout the week.

    1. Whenever you feel like grabbing a cookie, force yourself to drink an entire bottle of water. It will not only  suppress your appetite, but your body will benefit tremendously. Water is needed for every chemical reaction in your body and  vital to a healthy body.

    2. Whenever I feel the urge for junk food, I'll grab a quick cup of coffee with a little skim milk and Splenda. Having a Keurig makes this easier.

    3. Skim milk and nuts are a great snack. It will satisfy the urge to eat while putting a great balance of protein, carbs and good fat into your body.

    3. STOP BUYING COOKIES! Your entire family will benefit from this.

  • My tip;

    I have an-off-day.

    it keeps me honest, and gives me somethong to Look forward to, which

    helps me stick-to-it, and I find I dont eat as much as I would have thought

    on my off-day, because once Im there, Im so-used to eating correctly, its

    hard to break-off.[I think its a mind-over matter thing?], in-fact on my free-day

    i usually eat a sugar-free snack and that seems to satisfy me.

    hope that helps ya!

    if-not, I hope you find a solution that works for you!

    but keep the faith!

    and never stop trying to reach your goals!

    Because -> YOUR WORTH IT!!!

    God Bless,

  • Oh man cookies were a challenge for me, I survived, but the holidays were horrible!  I had some bad nights staring at them and I couldn't get them out of my house and it made me one moody crabby person, but as others I found a substitute.  My shakes became my sweet tooth and when I could fruits and yogurt did the trick for me.  Good luck!

  • Thanx guys! Thought i'd lost your msgs and glad just found them. They really help. Day 3 today. upper body hurts in a welcomed way. This is tough but i am determined.
