I think it's a great idea to enlist the aid of a personal trainer. Anything that will help to get moving toward your goal is a boon to your health as well. I know of a young woman who lost the weight with a personal trainer. I have weights at home, but I'm considering joining a gym myself.
Hi there,
My name is Trying Again and I just joined BFL. How are you guys doing on prograam? Question-Is it possible to firm the upper arms and get rid of the arm jiggle that I swore I would never get. I am 54.
Hi and welcome, TA! We are at various points in our program as you'll see if you read the thread. Jodi is the farthest along. I am in week three, though again, if you read the thread you'll see that I am still trying to "get started." I am working on cleaning up my eating, and am trying to line up a personal trainer to start on the exercise part. I know I don't "need" a trainer, but I NEED a trainer :) I realize that I have multiple 12-weeks to get to my ultimate goal(s), so I'm not worried about starting out so slowly. As for your question, I can't answer from experience YET, but I can say, if you look at the before and after pics, I think the answer is a definite YES!

Roni-I have been following all of your posts!! You are not alone!! It has just been crazy that everytime I log in someone callas my name....
I know this is a hard process when you know it will be several challenges. The 9er's group has been a huge help for me this past month when it has been so hard to do much of anything bc of my asthma and allergies. I have maintained the initial weight loss but with 2 weeks to th end of my first challenge was hoping for 10 more pounds. But I can feel th difference in my clothes and especially in my mental health.
It is amazing to me how much happier I am when I get my workout in. I have even been braving the Zumba class. I shake it like I was skinnier!!! I figure if I believe it-I will get there and like what I see in the mirror. Swimming has helped and so has the bike. The gym membership keeps me going. It has been slow bc I am recovering from the Achilles rupture repair-but I was able to run for the first time in a year. So don't give up! I have found if I get that first meal in right away-my entire day is better. My hubby and I are doing it together and we decided that the shakes really save us from cheating. Also the nutrition bars at target are the best!! Th chocolate mint taste like thin mint girl scout cookies!!! When the sweet tooth is calling....hang in there and I hope the whole group knows-we are cheering for all of you to succeed!!!!!
Hello, Everybody;
Glad to see the scales show a loss of 6 lbs. Since I know that is impossible, that means the initial weight gain was due to water weight from having too much sodium in my diet. On Paleo, we're supposed to watch our salt intake anyway. Will try harder.
Yesterday was pretty successful; I did get some protein through a can of sardines, and although I didn't do any cardio, I did complete upper body weight training.
However, this morning I ran out the house on an errand, and--out of habit--stopped at a 7-11 to get my favorite flavored coffee (blueberry. In contemplating the hazards of diet sugar, I opted for the real thing. Wasn't thinking about Paleo at the time. So, I violated 2 ways--sugar and cream. I have to become more conscious.
Also, I have neglected planning for a couple of days because Will do better today.
Good morning, Gals. Good job on the 6 pounds down, kaiya. That's in the right direction :) I was down 5 lbs overall this morning, which surprised me considering how not-yet-completely-on-program I am. But I have been trying to eat cleaner, and eat less, and I did walk 2 miles this morning. Every step in the right direction helps!
Here's a quote that a friend shared on facebook, and I have been contemplating a lot in relation to our goals here:
DECIDE WHAT TO BE AND GO BE IT.
Laying in bed this morning before daylight, I was thinking about it. What I Want is to be someone who jumps up at the crack of dawn and gets out and walks 2-3 miles; so if that is what I Want to be, then...get my *** out of bed and go Be that person! So I did :) What I Want is to be consistent at working out...so I have to work out. Whatever it is that I say that I want, I have to "go be it," no matter how small the steps, no matter how far from the ideal I am at present, if I am "being" what I "want to be," I will wake up some day and discover that I have "become" it!!! Cool, huh??
DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE AND GO BE IT!!!

Hi Girls
How is everyone doing??? I hope AWESOME!!!!!! How is everyones eating? workouts? off days?
I must say that all 3 for me (today, right now, at this moment LOL) are amazing. Am I a fitness model ready to compete? HECK no but some days I feel like I am. (some days I feel like a beat up 90 yr old too haha) My workouts just empower me in ways I was only hoping and wishing they could..I feel stronger and leaner everyday..altho it may be in bits and pieces and NOT at the rate I wish, its still happening.
I am currently on day 3 , week 9. I am so dedicated to finishing this 12 weeks . Did I have the epiphany of week 8 that i read so much about? NO :( , but week 9 is pretty darn cool (would be better if it wasn't that time of the month with bloating, tired etc etc) and I KNOW week 10 will really be something to look forward to. I already dropped 2 sizes slowly moving into 3 sizes. 1 shirt size too. It works ladies so KEEP IT UP...I always tell my daughter, keep on keepin on...my words of wisdom for the day
Hope to hear from my team...keep on keepin on, gals
JODI :)
Ok, I have a confession to make. I have "deleted the current challenge", since I have been so poor at it that it has basically been a non-challenge, BUT I have made a new start date for tomorrow. And just to make things interesting, I have also joined a Biggest Loser challenge locally, which starts tomorrow. It is only a 6-week program, so will only take me half-way through the BFL challenge, but it should be motivational and fun, and there are prizes :) Had I stuck with the first BFL challenge, I'd be halfway through and just hitting that awesome weeks 8-9 during the local challenge, but oh well. Moving forward!
I've messed up myself as well; but I'm going to stay with this challenge because I already deleted one. I have a problem with blood sugar. When it gets too low and I start experiencing symptoms I get scared and start carb loading.for 3 or 4 days. I'm good now, though. Good for you Ronif! I hope you continue to post here as well.
