Who is starting 5/2??? Can't do this Alone!

  • Yeh, I think the free day part will save me... never did apply the "free day" to any of my past diets ...  I think it will help me to save as much junk as i want for that day.  And like you said, who knows, maybe the junk part will disappear after I get used to feeling so much better from eating clean all week.

It's cool "oldracer" that you & your wife are doing this together...it surely will help you both stay the course.  Good luck!

  • Hi all!  I would love to join the group.  I actually just started this past Wednesday (4-27-11).  I have followed the program perfectly so far and I'm soooo sore this morning from my first upper body workout yesterday.  Although...the junk has been beckoning me from the kitchen and it is getting harder.  Might have to just toss it all.

The decision to do this program was pretty spontaneous for me as we just got back from vacation in Florida on Tuesday and all of my shorts and t-shirts were tight.  I was so uncomfortable!  I would like to lose about 15 pounds and gain some muscle!  Since I started on a Wednesday, I am trying to wait until next weekend for my cheat day....hope I can wait that long.  :)

I think this group could be sooo helpful in our success of the program.  Thanks for having me  :)

  • Hey dmwadley, welcome!  I am starting for the 1st time on May 1...  I'm nervous especially about the junk food..  I actually am cleaning out the pantry today so that tomorrow there will be none.

Let's stick this out and see how far we can come!

  • Ok MB!  I was looking at your profile....i am a sweets and wine lover, too.  We need to support each other thru our tough times.  :)

    Let's get er done!

  • Does anyone know what the deal with humus is? Protein or carb? On the food list "lentils" are listed as carbs but Garbanzo beans are not listed. I think it's considered a vegetable protein because if you check the "vegetable" filter box the humus recipe pops up. But i'm still not sure. Humus is such an asset because when your short on time and burned out on cooking it's such easy snack.

  • Honestly I would just do exactly what the book says. Read the cardio section.

  • Toss the junk! It's not worth it! The program really works if you give it a chance.

  • I'm starting 5/1 too.  I never officially did the program but followed it pretty closely a few years ago so I know it works.  I broke my ankle in January, had surgery and have been pretty inactive since then so I'm ready to get serious and decided last week this is just what I need to kick start myself.  I re-read the book over the weekend and am looking forward to getting healthy again.

  • Hi all!  Just started this journey on Wednesday (4-27-11)....I want to keep my "cheat days" for the weekends.  Should I have a cheat day yet or should I wait until NExT weekend?

    Would love your thoughts!

    Denise♥

  • OK, today's the day!

Denise -- as for the "cheat day" question, that's up to you, really.... think you can make it through to next weekend?  If so, go for it.  Otherwise, give yourself a bit of a break today, t.hen continue strong until next weekend, I'd say.

Good luck all!  Have a great journey!  WTW

  • So I just started and it's nice being back and working towards something.  I did my first run today.  It wasn't bad.   All day yesterday all I could think about is how I wanted to get this going as I pounded down another beer... lol.  I'm eating my first breakfast as I write this..Eggwhites, turkey sausage and grapefruit. All foods I enjoy anyway.  GL to those starting tomorrow.

  • Congrats, Convo!  It IS nice to have something to work towards isn't it?  I like focusing my energy on my BFL journey rather than hunting around the house for junk food!  :)

  • Good luck with your Journey! Not much of  a sweet eater but do like my beer and sometimes wine, best to stay away from all of it for best results even on free day, I do have a couple on a free day but seems they don't taste as good as they used to, maybe it is the clean eating! Good luck!
