Hi warriors!
I have just completed week 8! From here on out, It is all out by the books. The family has left town, and I have goals to meet,
so no excuses. I am taking pics this afternoon, I'll share on my profile.
Good afternoon Warriors!!!
For those of you not on MFP, here's a little update.....I went to the doctor today and she diagnosed me with severe plantar fasciitis as well as a possible stress fracture. The only way to totally confirm or rule out the fracture is an MRI, which I don't want to mess with right now. I am not supposed to be doing any weight bearing exercise for 2-3 weeks, which includes spinning & walking, although I may still try those, if it feels ok. I have 5 more weeks of this challenge, so I am going to have to dig deep to find the warrior in me because I am feeling totally discouraged right now!! Anyhow, it is what it is and I have to find a way to deal with it; it could always be worse, right?
Parson: Thanks for the inspiring post, as always!!! Best of luck to your little man tomorrow. Those were tear-filled days for me. How is your daughter liking 1st grade?
Miss Understood: Hit the last four weeks the hardest; make them really count. Make sure to hit those 10's and keep that food super clean!!! We are right here cheering you on. I will be anxious to see your pics...I am sure you will be able to see some definate changes.
I have to go to elementary "back to school" night tonight to meet with Delaney's teachers. Then, I will be going back for high school night tomorrow to meet Britt's teachers.
Everyone, make it a great week!!!!
They are starting to put Halloween stuff up in the stores, which means fall is right around the corner....AAW...can't wait!
"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"
Hi Warriors!!!
Quick post from my phone. Today was my first day back at work and it was super busy!!!! It was actually good to be back. My food was clean and on track!
I started my new workout program this morning. I love it so far! It is a lot of full body strengthening and core work. It's going to be really good for me. I am excited about doing things a little differently for the next few months!
BDMom: I am praying that your foot heals super fast! You are a Warrior so I know you will do what is best for your body.
Parson: sounds like you are killing it as usual! Hope pre-k goes well for your little boy.
Miss: way to go on making it to week 8!!! Keep it up! Looking forward to seeing your progress pics!
Have a great evening, Warriors!!!!
BD- I'm glad you have a diagnosis on your foot. Please dont push it too hard until it is under control! Thank you for your support and encouragement. It does help me so.
Runner- Glad your new workout is fun! to be honest, I have not been very excited about my workouts. I do hit them hard, but I have been in the dumps mentally lately and I just cant seem to perk up.
Has anyone heard from afleece?
My workout today was heaviest yet, LBWO. My eating was very clean! Trying to get my mojo back- Lots of small problems with family and the like have me distracted.
I am looking forward to school starting too, for us it is the day after labor day- A Michigan thing.
Looking forward, firm and fierce. Good night, Warriors.
Morning Warriors!
LBWO is done. I said a long time ago that failure is an option...when it comes to weights. I hit all my DL reps and felt good and wanted more so I added to more sets. I failed on the last set. Got 400lbs half way up my shins and that was it. I've got it's number though. It will go down and soon!!!
BDMom - DO NOT get discouraged. There is no way that you will let what you do for 1hr/day out of 24hrs in a day determine you outcome. It's not possible. 3 weeks @ 1hr/day for 5 days/week = 15hrs. It is not possible for 15hrs out of 3 weeks to determine the outcome...that is roughly how much workout time you are talking about. You will be a Warrior and you will succeed. There is NO other option.
Miss Understood - I know what you mean about distractions. I try to let my workouts be a time for me to take out my frustrations! Some days work better than others LOL! I'm still trying to teach the weights in my garage that they are defeated...
Runner - Welcome back to work! Make it happen today!
Claude - Sorry you got the bug over the weekend. That was me last weekend. Yuck is the best way to describe it...took me till almost Wednesday to get 100%.
Somebody send Cuervo a few quarters. He said he had my "Number", but I told him it was long distance to reach me....LOL! You better hit it hard today buddy!
Have a great day gang!!!
Good morning kids!
Parson!- Last night in my crappy mood, I decided to walk it off on the elliptical. So I did a bonus moderate pace 20 minutes, and then beat the crap out of my heavy bag (whom I havent punched in a long time). I felt much better! I did some research and I found that extra cardio is OK as long as it isnt HIIT. Is this right?
Just finished up my cardio HIIT. I have to say that I am feeling a bit more on this morning. I really want to melt off this little bit of fat I have left!
Miss Understood - Personally I think the extra cardio is fine in many cases. Overtraining is largely a myth. You just have to play it by how you feel. I have days just like you described...basically I go into the bonus round and do extra of something. Just think about it, if an extra 20 minutes 1-2x per week or couple of weeks helps you mentally like you described then I say go for it. I guess the only thing to add is to make sure you are getting what you need nutritionally to recover from the extra...if needed.
My favorite quote..."To get what you've never had, you gotta do what you've never done!"
Good Morning Warriors!
Today is my first day of school for this semester. I will have my biology class & lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so will leave home around 9:00 and not get back until after I pick up the kids from school. Tonite I have back-to-school night for Britt, so will only have about an hour when we get home to get dinner ready, and get kids started on homework. I started my online nutrition course yesterday. I have to keep a ten week log of workouts and foods eaten. Myfitnesspal will be an invaluable tool for that. I also have to write a paper every week on the chapter I read, do 3 article abstracts, visit a weight management meeting (Weight watchers, medifast, etc...) and write a report on it. Also, I have to interview someone who has had an eating disorder or meet with a clinic that specializes in helping those with disorders and write a paper on that. There is also a discussion board for this class that I have to participate in several times throughout the semester. It should be fun, but will keep me busy, especially with this darn biology class!!
If I get out of class early (since it is my first day), I may go by the gym and do some leg machines (leg curl, leg extension, ab/ad machine, etc..) and then try to walk on the stairclimber, really slow...that seems to be more of a toe walk than heel...but yes, if any pain at all, I will get off!!
Parson: Yes, I LOVE that quote, and it is so true! Yay, on failing on the last set of DL's you added...ha. You are a failure! Thank you, as always, for making me feel better. I know all of that stuff, but can't seem to wrap my mind around not working out. Many people love to have an excuse to not workout, but not us Warriors!! Good luck to your son today; let us know how that goes.
Miss Understood: Yes, the best way to melt off that fat is those HIIT sessions 3x per week; make sure you are hitting those 10's and you will definately drop that fat. I think extra cardio, if not HIIT is perfectly fine. I think we all do it. I love to hike, and do that when I can. I also do the stairclimber often after weights, because it is more of a toning exercise for me. If you take all of that frustration with your family and direct it to your workouts, you will have some great workouts.....when my mom was sick (dying), people wondered why I was working out when I was going through that. It was really my coping mechanism. I could take out all that anger and frustration in my workouts and have enough energy to get me through those emotionally difficult times. It's not part of my make-up to lay around and mope...I have to get out there and be active. Keep up the great work; you will see the most changes in the next 4 weeks, if you totally commit 100%!!
runnermom: How is it being back to work? Do the boys go back after Labor Day? I am glad you are fired up about your new program. I know you will do great with it!
OK, I have my food prepped and ready for the day; I will pack it up before I leave this morning.
Never take advantage of your good health. If you 've got it, then use it. My foot is a temporary set-back (God willing)...but I think of so many who have permanent disabilities and reasons why they can't workout. We are so blessed to be able to!!!
Hi Warriors!!!!
I am LOVING my new workout plan! It is definitely challenging my body. I was already sore this morning from yesterday's workout. It is so much core and strength training, and very different exercises than what I have ever done. I am SO glad I found this program. I am really pushing myself. I am feeling SO strong! My clothes seem to be fitting better already, only after 2 days. Tomorrow will be a HIIT cardio day for me, so not sure what I'm going to do. If I run, it will be intervals of speed and hills. I might do an Insanity DVD. Still deciding...so many options...ha!
Miss: I have always done extra cardio from the get-go, especially with my running background. Now I am having mixed feelings since I have started my new program. I feel that my body is transforming more with LESS cardio and more strength/core workouts. I say to do what feels good/right for your body. If you enjoy doing more cardio, then do it. But don't "punish" yourself by doing more cardio than is called for in BFL. It's all what you enjoy, and how you feel YOUR body responds.
Parson: Way to go with hitting failure!!!! I am hitting failure with a lot of exercises in my new workout plan and I LOVE it!
BDMom: I love Parson's advice to you. When you look at the big picture, I know you will be just fine. I know....I know....I am JUST like you in that I couldn't sit around and do nothing for 2-3 weeks....no way, no how! But, I know that you will be creative and find things that you CAN do to keep your body fit and healthy! Most of all, keep your foods clean b/c as you know that is SO much of what progress is based on. Hope the back to school nights go well. Mickey and Cody's "meet the teacher" is this Friday evening so we are anxious to see who they get for their teachers this year!!!!
Claude: Hope you are feeling better!
Cuervo: Hope you are still killing it with your workouts and nutrition!
Island: Where are you???? I miss your motivating posts! Check in when you can.
WP: Hope things are well in the sunny state of Florida!
Alright Warriors, food is packed and clean. I feel SOOOO much better when I eat totally CLEAN!!!! Being back at work, I am still amazed at how others eat on a daily basis and don't give a second thought about it! Yesterday most people had fast food for lunch and there were huge bowls of candy on every table here at our school. It didn't even tempt me!!!!
Have a great day!!!!!
BDMom: We were posting at the same time. Have a GREAT first day at school!!!!!
I added the new pics to my profile!
BDMom,
There can't be more than a dozen people who frequent this site who could overcome this type of adversity. Fortunately, you're one of them!
Jacium
Hey warriors! My internet at my house has been down for the last couple of days :-( so I am poasting via phone hopefully I will have connectivity tomorrow! Been following posts.via email but gotta catch up later.. glad u all are still getting.it done.. I am still getting my 5am workouts.in.. I have some great news.weight as.of yesterday stands at 207.4 I'm starting to see some new bumps haha!!! I will have a flat tummy !!! Anyway gotta hit the sack.. let's get it tomorrow warriors!! Alpha!!
I found myself looking for a sharp object...to poke my eyes out with. I thought it would be more fun than cardio. Couldn't find one in the dark, so I did the cardio instead.
I'm down almost another pound...and below 210 officially.
Have a great day gang - I've got a busy one ahead!
Parson: You are too funny!!! I love cardio, but know that some people loathe it! I was thinking this morning during my running HIIT that I definitely hit that "runner's high" and I couldn't help smiling throughout my workout. Funny how we are all different!
Island: Thanks for checking in!!! Hope your internet is up soon. Great job on the weight loss!!!! That is AWESOME! I am really hoping to show some abs too by the end of my new training program!
Miss: Your pictures are showing nice progress!!! You are almost there! What are your plans after this 12 week challenge?
BDMom: Hope your day went well yesterday. Your nutrition class sounds SO interesting! I would love to take a nutrition class...that would be right up my alley! I have really enjoyed helping Mickey with his nutrition over the past few weeks. It is amazing the changes his body is making! I hope your foot is feeling better today. Have you been back to the therapist?
This morning was cardio day for me. As I mentioned to Parson, I did a HIIT run outdoors. I did intervals of speed, hills, and recovery for 30 minutes. I loved it! The weather here is PERFECT in the mornings for running!!! I definitely hit my 10's and was dripping sweat by the end. My new program is forcing me to stretch and foam roll after EVERY workout session. This is hard for me, as I always tended to skip it, but I am determined to follow this program to a T and make the best progress possible! I can already see my body changing...amazing! Tomorrow will be back to strength workout A (I rotate between A and B for 4 weeks) and I am excited!
Nutrition is packed and clean. I got a new huge lunchbag/cooler and I love it! It fits everything so nicely!
Have a great day Warriors!!!!!
