BFL Warriors

  • Hi Warriors!

Super quick post from my phone.

I taught spinning this morning and have to sub again tonight! It will be a definite cardio day for me!

Nutrition is clean and I feel great. Grilling turkey burgers now so dinner will be waiting at home after my evening spin class.

Love all your posts. I will post more tomorrow with personals!

    Go get 'em Warriors!!!!!

  • Hey warriors! Seems to be one of those quickie days lol.. Well got my LBWO done and  managed to get 315 barbell squattage! lol.. I took it as deep as I could handle managed to get 10 Im not moving any higher till I get my form tight with that weight.. My last set was a burner 245 wanted to get 20 but by rep 15 the dizzy spells were starting so I got 2 more and racked it.. Hit my hamms with stiff legged deadlifts super setted with single legged presses on the leg press machine.. a few sets of standing calf raises and I was done! O and I also went back to the pull up bar today and got 5 reverse style easy! I pulled my shoulders above the bar on the first rep I even surprised myself lol..

No second round workout for me today I was pretty spent after this mornings session.. Hope you all had a great humpday..

    Much aloha WARRIORS!

  • HI Warriors!

Glad to see lots more of you jumping in for another challenge. That's why we are the WARRIORS!!!!!

Island: No more dizziness!!! Ha ha! Sounds like you really pushed yourself...I would expect no less of you! Are you getting close to the end of your 8 weeks? Also, love the pics!!! Your little girl did an awesome job!

BDMom: Let us know how pics and measurements go. I am still working on finding the time to do mine....I am down another pound today (I'm sure from my cardio/spin fest this week!), and my BF scale has me at 19% today. I am always between 18-19%, at least I have been for the past several months. One of my goals for this challenge is to see that number a little lower. Aiming for 16-17%...I just would like to see a drop, even if it's just a percentage or two.

WP: Both my kids really enjoyed the boogie board, and my older son even braved the single person ocean kayak! He did a great job, especially since he had no experience with kayaking in the ocean. It was pretty rough a few days! I prefer to sit back and relax on the beach, or take a nice walk or run. I don't like salt water in my face!

Cuervo: I will be interested to hear how you and your wife like the program. Hope you had a great birthday together!

Claude: Your comment about the girly weight made me laugh! What do you think of the Eat Clean diet so far? I like her stats that 80% of your progress is dependent on nutrition. I told that to my spin class yesterday and they all looked at me like I had 3 heads!!!

Fit: How are you? Are you still running? Training for any more 5ks? I am looking for one to train for in the next couple of months.

Today is Day 4 of C5. I feel great! I taught spinning last night and sweat a ton. This morning I went to the gym and did an easy warm up jog on the TM and then did back and biceps plus some core. Today was supposed to be LBWO for me but my legs are toast from all these spin classes I have been teaching. I am teaching again tonight, tomorrow morning and Saturday morning!!! That will make 6 classes for me this week. Yes, overkill! There were a lot of instructors who needed subs this week plus I am co-teaching with my gym coordinator tomorrow as part of my RPM training. I will be on vacation again next week, so glad I am getting a lot of workouts in this week!

My younger son, Cody, who is 6 y/o, has been telling me the past few days that he wants to run with me. I told him last night that we could go this morning. So, when I got home from the gym, he was waiting for me at home, in his dry-fit shirt and tennis shoes, ready to run!!!! He told me that he wanted strong legs like mine (what a proud mommy I was!). I was SOOOO proud of him! He ran almost the whole way around our neighborhood, which is very hilly. We probably ran at least a mile, and he only had to stop and walk 2x for just a few seconds. At the end of our run, he told me that he wanted to do it again tomorrow and the next day! Then, when we got home, he asked that I make him a "very healthy breakfast". Am I training a future Warrior??!!! I just loved running with him and spending some QT with just him!

My nutrition has been super clean this week. I have had no cravings whatsoever...probably b/c I ate so many unclean things last week! I made some protein banana almond bread last night. It came out pretty good. It's a little on the dry side, but I like the flavor and best of all it is a CLEAN treat! I used spelt flour, protein powder, greek yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, eggs, and of course bananas and almonds. I got the recipe out of one of my triathlon magazines.

Getting ready to bring Mickey to swim practice and going to take Cody to the pet store to get some more fish food for his fish. We will probably head to the pool this afternoon.

Have a great day Warriors!!!!! The weekend is almost here!

  • Morning Warriors!

I'm a little late in posting.  I'm in get things done mode at work ahead of vacation.

RMom - We are going to Virginia to see family and do some sight seeing.  My granny is celebrating her 101st birthday on Monday!  We are so excited about it.  101 years is a big deal, and we love her so much!!!  I'm so thankful that my children have had the opportunity to know and love her too!

UBWO is done!  It was a little weird this morning.  My wife is a couple of weeks into her challenge (she is doing well so far), and it just happened we were in the garage at the same time.  She was doing cardio on the elliptical while I was lifting.  I had my headphones on and was kind of zoned out or in when she came out.  Anyway it was all good.  She gave me a spot on my last set of incline dumbbell bench press...and I set a PR.  75's for 8 reps.

Island - Awesome work on the pullups!  They say the only way to get better at pullups is to do pullups.  I stink at them, but I am working on them.  I do 3 sets to failure at least once per week.  This week I have done it twice.  Mondays workout, I was much stronger with them than today.  My upper body strength lags anyway, so I have to keep working on it!

Have a great day Warriors!  I have to get back at it!

  • Happy Thursday Warriors or should it be Day 4,

    Island,

Great pic's you can tell your daughter that they are so  good I'm going to print them off and put them on my fridge. You have been such an inspiration having you around the house should help along with everybody elses pic's. This is going on the Clean Eating Fridge, lol. This is the next best thing to having us all in the same location. I may even create a wall of fame at work. Everyone inspires me. I didn't realize just how much until this morning looking at those pic's. Thank you all for that.

Awsome job on the pullups like parson I suck at those and will be trying to improve but my upperbody just can't handle the weight right now. One of my co -workers told me a while ago he PO'd his uncle at his 65 birthday and he took him into the barn and proceeded to do 25 one arm pullups. This shut him up in a hurry. He worked on the farm throwing bails of hay all of his life and still at it in his 80's now not working as hard now. Push on warrior be carefull with the dizzy spells don't want to get hurt now.

    Parson,

I can see how it would be a little weird when you get used to wo alone. Congrats on the PR. iT'S AMAZING what you can do to impress your sweet heart. LOL. Sounds like you will be sharing the gym that's great until you guys start fighting over the equipment. Ha Ha! Just kidding she will always win. Wish Granny a Happy Birthday from me and my family I hope to be there some day. I keep telling that to my kids they think I'm joking and laugh it off. The joke will be on them when it happens and they get to change my diapper as I did theirs.lol. Remains to be seen. Enjoy your holiday.

    RM,

I haven't read much of it yet due to my car acting up. It's all good now brought to the dealer this am. They said that the charger for the cell phone drained the battery as it was sucking juice from it when the car was off. Solution unplug charger unless it needs to be used. I like the 80% thing. It's funny as soon as I mentioned to Kristy about wanting to loose my belly the first thing that came out of her mouth was diet she's also a nutritionist. Then it was do core wo. I am going to have to try a version of your protien bread, I was also thinking of trying breakfast cookies as a meal replacement grab and go sort of thing. All clean. You are such a cardio maniac now. Don't burn out with all those classes. Good practice before you show your boss.

    BD,

Ihaven't taken pic's yet but will on Sat & weight, measurements might do it at the club not sure yet. Enjoy your wo's I know you are always working hard at it.

Accountability : Last night was AB's . I have never really done an ab routine before because I find it boring and I'm lazy in that department. So my first ab routine took an hour 8 exercises, 2 sets, 16 reps each. Boy do I need to work at these I even worked up a sweat. Couldn't do 16 in a row of anything but will perfect these this challenge if nothing else they will not win. Will layout my routine later once I finish tweeking it.

Off to Boston Pizza for lunch not sure what I'll have. I will not have their GF Pizza, they don't put enough ingredients on it for my liking. For what it is it's too expensive as far as I'm concerned.

    Have a great day Warriors!

    Claude

  • Good Morning Warriors!

I got my HIIT in this morning, and just had a yummy protein shake (almond milk, cottage cheese, banana, blueberries & protein powder - vanilla).  I am going to have Britt take my pictures when she gets up.  Measurements are done.  I will weigh and do my body fat (on my handheld omron) on Monday morning, and I'll be ready to go.  With this challenge, I'd like to drop a few pounds and I would always like to see my bf drop some.  I want to basically not miss a workout, eat clean every day, Sundays will be my day off, and it will be part of my challenge to not overindulge on that day!!!  I will check in here daily, and I will post all foods eaten on MFP, even if I have a bad day.  I want to eliminate added sugars, and cut those cravings!!!  Most of all, I want to see my body comp change in my before/after photos.  I want to get stronger on my lifts, and incorporate spinning into my workouts at least 2x per week.

Claude:  Be sure to get those pics taken and measurements done.  It's easy to underestimate our progress if we don't have something to compare.  I hope you made healthy choices at the Pizza joint.  Make sure to add to your MFP diary.

Parson:  Wow, 101 years old!! That is amazing. Guess you have those genes, right?  What's her secret?  Is Wendy doing a full twelve week challenge?  Is it BFL style or just committed workouts and clean eating?  I noticed she was on your fitness pal page recently.  If she wants some "girl" insight or feedback, have her friend me & runnermom.  We'd be happy to push her and encourage her!  When do you leave for vacation?

runnermom: Wow, you are a cardio machine.  You must have lost all of your vacation weight already.  I'm still hanging on to a few.  I was wondering if you were having any sugar cravings.  So glad you are not.  That will be the hardest part for me; letting go of the sugar.  It is truly addicting to me. Where are you going on vacation this time?  When do you leave?  How exciting for you to spend that time with your son.  You are setting such a great example, and I know he is as proud of his mommy as you are of him.  Your bread sounds good. I  may have to get that recipe from you, after this challenge.  I think I am gonna nix bananas for awhile.

Island:  Love the pics from the kettlebell workout.  You are doing Awesome.  So proud of you for getting those pull-ups knocked out.  Be careful not to overdo it.  You are eating before your workouts, aren't you?  Haven't seen you on MFP for awhile...are you eating clean??

K...Britt is up, so time to go get pics.

    Have a great day!!!!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • OK All...I got my pics downloaded and put on my profile.  The only thing missing on current stats is my weight, which I'll put in on Monday morning.  The shorts I am wearing are my size 0's.  They fit better before vacation; they are a little snug now.  I know I'll never have an hourglass shape **sigh**, but I just want to see some firmness and muscle definition in the ab region.  Also, I am trying not to use too much weight when working inner thighs, since I think they are too big as it is.  K...that is my critique of myself...oh, and of course, the glutes can always be tighter ;).

    Have a great day all!!!

I'm gonna go enjoy some frozen yogurt today with the girls, since it will be my last for awhile!!

PS:  I don't like that when they upgraded this website that the pics on profiles are now all stacked up on one another.  I liked when I could put them side by side....oh well.

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Greetings Warriors,   Island dude:Wow, great work on the squattage,  I can relate to form issues so I may hold on mine at 355lb for now to concentrate on going lower down and give my knees time to adjust to it all. Be ware of hammy cramps if you over do it though, they are tough ones later at night to deal with. (icy hot time).  BDMOM: Enjoy your yogurt with the kids today, It's nice to see someone get the kids to eat more healthy alternatives then the sugary stuff out there. How is the school for you going to look this fall. Hope you got some easier classes this time.   Parson: way to go on the incline dumbell press and I thought I was doing great with the 55lbs last time around (of course I don't have a spotter either, the rest around me are much to involved in their own workouts for that..typical LA fitness group there).Congrats on Grammy's 101st bday..wow!   Runnermom: Thanks for your interesting response to the bogey board inquiry.  too bad you don't like the salt water though, nothing like a good run on the bogey board from out there to the shore to make your day.  It's the FLorida equal to sledding down a steep hill during the winter, exhilirating.  Well got to get ready for cardio today so I have to wrap it up. My wellness exam was ok but not as great as I had hoped.  He told me my BMI was 31.2 down from 32.9 in October so about a 1.5 drop, not enough to get that 100 $ from our wellness program but still encouraging (based on a weight of 223 ) . He did say that I have dropped about 11lbs since I last saw him then , so progress is being made there as well.  I had him send in the form anyway just to see what happens, (what the heck, why not already took the blood test last week),.  He said my LDL and HDL cholesterol levels were much better and great and for me to continue on in whatever I am doing in my health pursuits because it is definately working well for me. He said I would have to get under 200lbs to be able to claim the BMI bonus based on current charts, a serious goal for the next challenge . I did show him my laminated and shrunk to card sized Certificate of BFL Challenge completion from 2011 and he was very impressed with that as well and even seemed to consider BFL as an option personally, (perhaps I can sway him away from golf to our side some day if I keep trying these challenges)..  Well to anyone I missed, have a great workout and a healthy week this week, and don't overdo it on the 4th of July, remember your healthy meal options on that day (turkey hamburger patties for example).   I have to watch out on the 2nd because a  20th years with Disney anniversary party may be headed my way that day and I still am planning to take my After photo on the 5th of july that week.  got to watch those goodies that day but still remember what BD said one time....sometimes you just have to eat that cake (i'll eat just a small piece that day). Hope they have that white gold ring ready with MIckey MOuse on it  for me too!! (also another certificate with it as well).  Hi Ho for now, Keep MOving FOrward everyone!!!

  • Happy Friday Warriors!

LBWO is done.  Squats done with authority!  New PR on good mornings...195x5.  I do them with just the barbell on my back (no machines at Parson's Family Fitness Center LOL!).  For my cool down I took 2 25lb plates and started walking down the street.  I did about 300yrds today with them.  I love getting out there right to the point of no return...one more step and you wonder if you will make it back, but you have no choice but to get back right?  Good workout overall.  Ready now for my week off.

Vacation starts in the AM.  We are making our first stop at Wendy's parents in Florence SC.  We will be in VA by Sunday afternoon/evening sometime.

Today is my 10yr anniversary to the most beautiful and wonderful woman in the whole world!  We exchanged gifts before 7AM today LOL!  She actually surprised me with a Craftsman wrench set I had been wanting for a few months now...I really like it!

Have a great day Warriors.  We are going to be in the 100's for the next few days.  The temperature is not the problem....it's the 80+% humidity level that get's you.  It literally chokes you when you walk out!  Lot's of water for me today and going forward..I will try to check if I can next week on vacation!

WPBill - Happy 20th @ WDW.  Monday the 2nd you are the official Warrior of the Day!!!

  • Gr.eetings Warriors,  Just a quick post today.  More fun at the gym yesterday Parson,  towel, book and me writing in my reps and weights at the sitting calf machine and up walks this young gal....Are you using this machine?  DUH no I always hang my stuff on machines and put my water bottle and write numbers at machines in here, now go away! Just kidding , I told her a firm YES as I have learned to do in this location to discourage hecklers and moochers.  Parsons way to go on the weights this week and enjoy your vacation coming up, too bad I didn't get to meet you when you came down for your last WDW vacation, maybe next time? And THANKS for nominating me as Warrior of the Day  for Monday the 2nd of July my 20th year with the Mouse at DHS (started here in 92 but did spend 5 years at EPCOT  93=98 at WOM, Horizons and The Land(must be where my hidden desire to eat healthy salads came from) This is why I opted to have either Mary Poppins, FIGMENT or Mickey Mouse on my cake for the party on Monday (or so I assume, it's supposed to be a big surprise on that day so it could be off a day or two). Best wishes to ALL OUR WARRIORS TODAY AND KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!! now got to get some rest and later hit the gym for my next to the last UBWO of this C3 challenge, 12th week booooyeah!

  • Good Friday morning Warriors,

    Parson,

Happy aniversary to you and the Mrs's. Congat's on the PR you just keep knocking them out way to go. Enjoy your vacation. It's pretty muggy here today but nthing like what you're getting.

    WPBill,

Sometimes you just have to stand you ground nothing wrong with that especially when you're surrounded with all that attitude. That would drive me crazy I think. Week 12 Home Stretch. Are you going to join us or not.

Accountability : Cardio done, my cable wo that I didn't do last night done. Woke up at 3 am. Got to the gym and had to go back home forgot my glasses so couldn't read my new cable wo. Time waisted 30 min. May go for a trail run tonight not sure yet. Feeling very upbeat today as thios is my last day of work until Aug. 7 th. Nothing planned Linda still has physio. I'm going to try and do my wo's early am before the rest of the house gets up. Will try and get Julie to the gym for some classes. Will try and get thigs done around the house. Eating Clean is my challenge for the next 5 weeks.

Have great day Warriors, Push Harder Run Faster and Enjoy the ride.

    Claude

  • Helloooo Warriors!!!

It is finally Friday!  I took our puppy and dropped him off at the vet to get neutered, then came home and made breakfast for the girls.  I will head out to the gym in a little while and do a LBWO, and the stairclimber.  He should be ready to be picked up by the time I finish my workout.

I am already trying to get my clean meals planned out for next week, so I can get what I need at the grocery store this weekend.  I will be going to the gym tomorrow morning to do an UBWO and then spin.

Claude:  Glad you got up to get that workout in that you didn't get in last night.  I like to get up and slip out before anyone is up to get my workouts in, otherwise there are too many distractions. Keep that food clean and you will see changes.  Enjoy your time off work, and get all those items crossed off that honey-do list.

WPBill:  I will be taking a biology class and lab this fall, as well as an online nutrition class.  I hope it won't be too bad.  Great job on your physical.  You may not be where you thought you would be, but you are better than where you were before.  Keep doing what you are doing going forward, and you will get there!!!  Your body is healthier and it is thanking you for making such positive changes.  You definately need to watch the goodies at the party & the 4th, if you are doing pictures on the 5th.  Look forward to seeing the changes you've made!

Parson:  Happy Anniversary to you and Wendy!!!  Have a blast on your vacation and give grandma a great big hug from us Warriors.  Great job on breaking those PR's; you're gonna have your work cut out for you when you get back.  I think it is unusally hot all over for this time of year.  It breaks my heart to hear of all the homes lost in the fires in Colorado.

Where is everyone else at?????  Check in!

    Have a fantastic weekend!!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Happy Friday Warriors!

Parson: Happy Anniversary! So, what did you get for your wife? My husband loves new tools anytime! I hope you have a great vacation. Happy birthday to your granny! My husband's grandparents are both still alive. They are both 96, active, and living on their own in a little apartment. I just think it is amazing when people live to that ripe old age!!! We are set to have record temps here in Charlotte...supposed to get up to 104 today. Doesn't bother me after living in Houston for 10 years where temps over 100 were the norm from May until the end of August. At least we don't have the humidity here as we did in Houston. Keep hydrated!

Claude: Wow, woke up at 3 AM? I thought I got up early...but you got me beat! Hope the cable WO went well. Why are you off work for more than a month? Lucky you!

WP: Congrats on your 20 years of service. I hope you have a great party!!! You will have to take a picture of your cake and ring and post it on here!

BDMom: Great pics! I can't seem any room for improvement, but as you said, we are always striving to be better. This time I am headed to the mountains for a vacation. My sister has reserved a huge home in the Smokies near Hendersonville, NC..she is so good about always planning big family vacations! My parents are also going along again, so there will be lots of people. I am really determined to keep my nutrition in check on this vacation. I still feel sick when I think about all I ate at the beach, so that definitely is deterring me right now from even thinking about losing control next week! I'm sure there will be lots of hiking involved too, so I will get in my cardio. I will bring my kettlebell along again too.

Accountability: I got up this morning and did my RPM masterclass video. I hadn't done it in a while and wanted to make sure that I was prepared to teach with my gym coordinator this morning. I also did a short chest and ab workout after the DVD. Then, I came home and jogged with Cody (he was ready and waiting when I got home from the gym again!) around our neighborhood, and then I went and taught my spin class. I was a little disapointed b/c I got totally lost in one of the tracks, but otherwise I think it went well. It was a big class, and I think they were used to their regular instructor, but they seemed to really get into the workout and thanked me for teaching. Needless to say, my body is TIRED!!!!! I can tell it needs rest. If I didn't have to teach spin tomorrow morning, I would make it my rest day. Oh well, I will push through it b/c I am a WARRIOR!! I am looking forward to Sunday's rest for sure!!!

Nutrition has been clean today and all week. I am really thinking that I will try not to take many free days this challenge. I just don't have the control to not go crazy and overeat. I really am not having any cravings, and am trying to incorporate healthy, clean treats every other day or so (like my banana protein bread). I think this works best for me.

    Have a great weekend Warriors!!!!

  • Hey Runner,

It's one of the perks for being a dinasaur. lol. I have worked for the RCMP for 34 yrs. and I get 5 weeks a yrs.

  • Good Saturtday morning Warriors,

    BD,

Took a peek at those pic's you're looking great. Not much to worry about. As it goes we are our worst critics. I will take my pic's today and weigh in, measurements too.

    Runner,

I think it's great that you aqnd Cody are jogging together now. You must be Beaming as you run. Nothing better as a parent to have positive feed back like that. Enjoy the moutains and family.

Hope you are all enjoying great weather warriors. Will be going to KB this morning I have decided that Sunday will be my rest day this time. That means I'll have to really watch my eating durring the week.

    HAVE A GREAT DAY WARRIORS!

    Claude
