Way to Island Dud, Looking like the exercises and eating clean are doing you some real good. Definate progress showing in those last photos compared to the first ones. Hang in there more results are sure to be coming soon and be careful with thos kettle bells. (Can I borrow a set maybe I can clear some room out on the weight room floor on busy days that way at La Fitness)..just kidding on this one. Got to go now its the last day of week 3 of C3 and cardio time!!!
Hey warriors thanks for the compliments I really wanna buckle down for the next round and finally get rid of the flab haha :) Bill haha wouldn't that be a sight :) got the back workout in and food was good! have a great Tuesday warriors!
Super quick fly-by for me. I have a busy day today. Have to get to school early to meet with my instructor to find out what I am going to miss on Thursday. Then class, and back home to let the dogs out, then to the gym, and to spray tan. I then will pick up kids from school and get home to get their homework done before I take Lane to swim lessons (they got changed from 4:30 to 5:30 today). I have to try to pack as much as I can tonite since I have class tomorrow night. It will be our last nutrition lab, and the theme is Italian! Each group has to come up with their own recipe, but it can't be a recipe that has been used before. We can use other recipes for ideas but have to make it our own. Each group has a different part of the meal to prepare (appetizers, soup/salad, main entree, dessert). We then have to sit down "family style" to eat and then evaluate everyone, and judge the food. The winning group gets extra credit. I don't need it, but I like to win, so we will see..ha. My partner and I have appetizers.
I got my Hiit done this morning and will do LBWO at gym today. I plan to do another Hitt tomorrow morning and then UBWO with my trainer tomorrow....then off to Disney on Thursday.
Gotta run!
Have a great day!!!
"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"
Hello everyone,
Long time no see! I've been lurking in the shadows. Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still continuing my fitness journey that I started last January.
A BIG CONGRATS to Island_dude!!! Wow brah... I'm impressed. You're looking really good!!!
I've been training for another Tough Mudder with a group of high school friends for the past couple months - mainly interval running (strength training in between distance markers). In addition, I'm one month into another P90X challenge but have injured my shoulder so I'm taking it easy for a bit and focusing on cardio until my shoulder (rotator cuff) heals. I'll continue the cardio portion of P90X (in addition to my runs) and then start the strength routines when I'm healthier. I was on a roll too!!!! darn it....
Just started to use Myfitnesspal.com again. I hope I can keep on track!
For those of you wondering about TAZZ... I was in touch with him a couple weeks ago. He's down to 175 lbs but at this time a lot of the weight loss is due to his health issues. He's having a rough time of it and working out is just not in the cards for him at this time. He and I still keep in touch... phone, text, email. Please add an extra prayer for his recovery. I know that he's really missing being on the journey that he started over a year ago. I hope that his health improves but it may be a lengthy process for him this year.
I still get daily logs from all of you and its good to see that you're all still WARRIORS!!!!
Be strong!
Have a blessed day!
If it's going to be... It's got to be me
Hey Warriors,
Haven't been posting much these days but have been getting wo's in. Island awsome job with the KB's. Did Turkish Press, Gunslinger, Sumo Squats,Figure 8 Lunges, Two arm Shoulder Press with offset weight and switch sides. Burpees no weight. Was tough but fun. That was Sat. wo.
Buzz,
Thanks for checking in hope you heal quick, nothing worse than being side lined. Prayers out for Tazzz, hopefully recovery will be faster than he expects.
Runner,
Should it be ROADRUNNER from now on. Holy crap that is fast. When do you plan on cracking that one after all 3 men beat you. Just kidding but I know you will keep trying. BTW I figured out mfp.
BD,
Have a great vacation enjoy you have earned it.
Cuervo, Parson and all the rest of you yopu all are my hero's keep plugging away as I do.
Claude.
Good Tuesday, Warriors. I haven't been on for a few days. Had a great UB workout Friday. Walked out of the senior center, and the next thing I remember I'm in the ER at our hospital with my daughter and son-in-law. I have no memory of anything from 9:30am to around noon that day. I missed the excitement of an ambulance ride - hunkey EMTs the whole thing. It's called TGA. Transient global amnesia. I had to quit my workouts until I have a follow-up check with my doctor. They kept me in the hospital over night and most of the day - tests, etc. TGA happens ot one in 99 people - usually only once - rarely rarely happens more than once. The only thing that brings it on is stress - yes I have some - and extreme physical exertion. I didn't really push myself that hard Friday morning - so I think it was a combination. But I really am missing my workouts. Hopefully after I see Doc tomorrow - I can begin again. Have a great day, Warriors. missed being online.
Dee
Greetings Warriors, Hope everyone has a great workout day today if it is yours. (it;s my Free day today but I am trying to stay within reasonabe boundries, for example I had Crea7ine Red with water for lunch with cottage cheese and pears and a handful of mixed nuts and whole wheat goldfish crackers) I will probably only have one crazy meal today for the day and then it's back to Week 4 or C3 for me tommorrow. Proverbs31: WOw that TGA sounds serious. I hope you are ok and recover soon and that it doesn't re-occur during your challenge this time or again for that matter. TAZZ: hope you recover real soon and are back at the gym full strength sometime in the near future. BDMOM: How are the kids doing and How is school going right now for you? Buzzman: Thanks for checking in with us, we wondered how you were doing lately. Best wishes on all your workouts this week too! Thank for reminding me about MYFitnesspal, I have to check on that this week and get back with it, although I have been recording calories, Gross Protein, carbs in/on my BFL SUccess journal for the past three weeks and trying to meet my personal goal of below 1,814 calories each day or at least close to that. (its a 7 day average minus 20% to induce a loss of body fat). IslandDude: Thanks for your comment about the kettebell idea. Stil I have to tell you that it was Membership day at LA Fitness yesterday (not my Free day I might add so I resisted temptation) and they were giving away Free pepperoni pizza, columbian food samples(nearby restaurant), free water(too that one it was a Crystal mini that might come in handy), I skipped the Herbal life samples (might confilict with my supplement right now and not good to do when you are doing supplemental situp work) and the best part....The Wings restaurant gals where there handing out samples and coupons for Cinco de Mayo (no I didn't eat any but I did visit with the young ladies to say HI...no need to be anti-social is there)(Note Wings is an establishment very similiar in design and decor to Hooters). It was interesting and challenging to keep focuses to say the least there yesterday. Well got to go for now , right more next time. Best wishes and Keep Moving Forward!!!
hey gang,
Glad to see everyone is doing well. I am hitting it hard and trying to keep my momentum. Foods and workouts have been on par. I think I need to keep cardio first in line so that if something comes up I already have it done. It is no problem for me to workout because it is my favorite, cardio has always been my demon. I can always find a reason to skip it. I tried a heavy workout this morning and just cant seem to get going right out of bed. Regardless, i will continue on and adjust as needed. A few good comments have came my way recently, so I might not be as bad off as I think. lol. I have been asked a couple of times if I was a powerlifter. HAHA. I only wish I had the power that was in me just 6 months ago. It isnt far away though if I can be smart and keep the old joints from slowing me. It is hard to realize that I am not 18 anymore. Dont try to tell my heart or mind that. I always heard "where your mind goes your body will follow" so I will be back in no time.
Have a great afternoon.
Hi Warriors!
Quick post from my phone. It's been a long day!
Nutrition has been spot on today!
I worked out at home this morning because my hubby had to go into work early so I needed to be home with the kids. I did a 23 minute HIIT on TM....great run!!!! Then I had a great UBWO with super sets and my kettle bell. I am proud to say I am now swinging around my 35 lb Kettlebell!!!!! Woo hoo!!!! So much fun!!!
My hubby has been complaining all day today how sore he is from our workout yesterday !!! I told him to keep me as his trainer and I would whoop him into shape....Ha!!
Sorry I can't do personals right now but thinking of all you Warriors!!!! Have a great night!!!
Morning Warriors!
Proverbs31 - So glad you are OK. Sounds like you had a wild day or two for sure!
Cuervo - Come on man...all the cool people workout in the AM LOL! Glad you got the workout in either way. It still amazes me how we are all different with little things like workout times etc. You are right...you are not 18 any more...BUT you are stronger, smarter, more in tune than you ever were at 18! I know you...once you are zoned in I know it's on!!!
Runner - Tell your hubby to man up and be a warrior! LOL! Glad he is in there with you!
Buzz - Glad to here from you! Thanks for the update on Tazz!
I had to do yesterday's WO today since I was out of town yesterday. Every once in a while I get to feeling really good during a WO and decide to add a set or reps above the original plan. Today was that day and I hit a PR on dead lift...345x1...and I know I left some in the tank too. It felt good!
Yesterday was my little Warrior's BDay! He turned 4. I made it home in time for a little pizza party with just the 4 of us. It was so funny. I get home and he is running around in his "birthday suit"! He got new swimming trunks and that is what he ran around in LOL! He has been right up under me for the past couple of weeks...talk about a proud daddy...that's me!
Have a great day gang! Give it your best and make it happen. Nobody is going to do it for you! If you want to run faster...do it! If you want to lift more...do it!
Hi Warriors!!!! Happy Hump Day!
Parson: Four is such a fun age! I love preschoolers! Glad your little boy had a great birthday.
Buzz: SO good to hear from you!!!! I hope you can post more often and let us know how you are doing. Sounds like you are keeping your WARRIOR status! Please let Tazz know that I am praying for him.
Proverbs: Wow, that sounds serious. I hope things are okay. Take it easy and listen to your doctor.
Cuervo: It is funny how some people are morning people and some not. I am such a morning person. If I left my workouts til the afternoon they definitely would not get done. I love getting up early, but sometimes I wish I had more energy in the afternoons and evenings in case I wanted to add a workout then too! Way to get your workouts in, and glad your nutrition is on par too. You deserve all those compliments!
WP: Sounds like quite a membership day at your gym! Funny how they serve all those unhealthy treats! Really, pizza at a gym???
Claude: Glad you figured out MFP. How is Linda doing with her meals? Does she like to cook? I absolutely love to cook and love trying different things that I create!
BDMom: How was your lab last night? I hope your appetizer was a winner!!!! BTW, I ordered both the books you recommended about carb cycling. I just got an email that they have been shipped so I am excited! I love reading books to keep me motivated and informed! It really helps me when I want to eat something bad....I just pick up one of my fitness books or magazines and it helps me realize why I am doing all this!
I taught spinning this morning and it was a great class. I am on the Saturday rotation this month at Gold's, so I will be teaching spinning this Saturday too so that takes care of my cardio for Saturday too! Tomorrow will be UBWO/pull and then Friday will be LBWO and kettlebells. Nutrition is packed and clean. I am cooking fish tonight. I don't feel like I eat enough fish, but I am going to try to eat it twice a week from now on. I love fish, just don't cook it that often.
Have a great day Warriors!!!!
Good afternoon Warriors!!
This will be it for me for a few days. We will leave for Disneyland tomorrow and return home sometime Sunday.
My nutrition lab is tonite, and it will be far from "diet" friendly. Will just eat a little bit of everything, and eat real slow...ha. My partner and I are making the appetizer (cut up chicken breast, cooked in olive oil, with a bit of Frank's buffalo sauce). We will then cut up mozzarella. We will cut a refrigerated pizza dough into squares and wrap the chicken and mozzarella cheese in it, and then put them in a baking dish. We will brush the top with olive oil, garlic and Italian seasoning and then bake. I hope they turn out as good as they sound.
Got my HIIT in early and then did UBWO with my trainer. Food has been good all day, and will continue to be until tonite. This is my final lab, so Yay! Although I have enjoyed this class.
Runnermom: The Venuto book doesn't cover carb cycling as much as I thought it would, but it covers a lot of material and is still a really good read. I am going to follow the Chris Powell plan, starting Monday. Low carb days s/b around 1,200 cals & high carb around 1,500 cals. I am having a difficult time getting up to 1,200 on low carb days with food choices. I have plugged in a few menus, but know I will have to tweak it some. If you decide to try it, I should have the kinks figured out by then and be able to help you out if you need it. How are your push/pull workouts going?
Parson: Happy Birthday to your son!! These years go far too fast!! I remember when my 14 year old turned 4.....Glad you were able to be home in time to enjoy pizza in his birthday suit!
Cuervo: So good to see you posting. I think knocking out that cardio first thing in the morning is the only way I get it done. If too much time goes by, I will almost always find a reason to skip it. People think I am crazy to get up at 4:30 2x per week to get it in, but that is how I have to do it. You are not far from where you were 6 months ago. Did you watch the finale of Biggest Loser last night? I didn't watch much of it over the season, since I've been so busy with school and stuff, but did watch last night. I think Kim looked Awesome! She used to be a pro wrestler, and muscle memory served her well. Prior athletes have the drive, but their bodies also know what to do. Your body knows what needs to be done.
WPBIll: The kids are well; they are anxiously waiting for the school year to get over. Things are going well for me. I have finals next week, and then I have decided not to take any classes this summer. So, I will enjoy a few months off with the kids. I still cannot believe that any gym would be giving that food away to their members. Certainly they can find healthier alternatives. Great job avoiding the garbage! Kill it in week 4 next week.
Dee: How scary for you, and what a bummer you didn't get to take full advantage of your ride with those EMT's..ha! I sure hope this was an isolated incident and you do not have any recurrences. I will keep you in my prayers for sure. Please keep us posted!!
Claude: Thanks. I fully intend to enjoy my time away. I need to de-load. Where has Linda been on MFP? I thought she had her food all ready to go for the week. Good job getting your stuff entered on there.
BUZZ: Lurking is not allowed if you are an active Warrior!! You gotta check in and let us know how you are doing. I am so glad you are doing well, and training for another Tough Mudder; I bet you do great!!! Thanks also for the update on Tazz; I've been wondering about both of you.
Speaking of.....Been thinking about Staats, Grandpa, 2C, Brick, and all our other Warriors who have kinda taken a step back. I hope they are all well!!
Gotta go eat my buffalo meatloaf and sweet potato....

Dee - How are you feeling today?
Have a great day Warriors! I have a busy one ahead on my end...
Hi Warriors!!!!
Busy day for me too so quick post for me!
Island: Sorry, can't do the raw fish! I prefer mine grilled or baked!!!
Parson: Way to go on your PR!
BDMom: You are probably in Disney as I type! Hope you have a great vacation!
Today was UBWO/pull for me. It was a great back and biceps workout!!! I did supersets and also added plyo and abs.
Nutrition is spot on today! I ordered some new Whey Isolate flavors so I am trying those out today. My new favorite brand is About Time Whey Isolate. Their claim is that they are the cleanest on the market! I love the peanut butter flavor, but also ordered chocolate.
Have a great afternoon and evening!
