BFL Warriors

  • FINALLY!!!! IT POSTED!!! LOL GOODNIGHT!!

  • Morning Warriors!

Well, I got my workout in this morning, but I'm not happy about it.  No reason to be unhappy really, but it was just one of those workouts where I couldn't quite get going.  It happens and I move on...

Looks like lots of us are having a busy/crazy week.  It has been crazy around our house with everything going on, but all is well!

I will not give up.  I will keep pushing ahead.  I may lose a battle, but I will not lose the war!

Have a great day Warriors!  Get your workouts in...do something to improve yourself today!

  • Island_Dude - Thanks for the shout out!

I know what you mean about at times losing the post before you can post it up to the web site. I usually write my loner posts in MS Word and then cut and paste them into BFL and that way I do not risk losing the message before I can hit the send button...just a thought.

The 9er blog has been pretty active all through out the C1 activity. Many of us are doing C2 starting on Apr 9 and the blog will hopefully continue on strong. (So Bill if you are starting on April 9th look for us here and on the Jan 9th blog as a group of us will be with you.)

I know the Warrior Blog is also going strong and that is why I like joining in....this blogging thing is addictive and I need the lifting and exercise accountability support...Plus it is also great to celebrate the successes that the group members are experiencing!

Island, glad you are lift strong again after you neck surgery...your deadlift weights sound amazing...I gotta quit babying myself.

Hopefully BD is continuing on the mend and the rest of the group is also going strong.

All for now ...enjoy the day!

I am not going to tell you that it will be easy ... I am going to tell you that it will be worth it!

  • Good Morning Warriors!!

My sleepy heads are still in bed.  That is unusual, even for spring break.  I am feeling pretty good.  I went to bed at 8:30 and got up at 6:30.  I did get up several times to go to the BR; I am drinking a ton of water to wash out the anesthesia.  But, I still feel better today.  I ate a good breakfast (oatmeal with chia seeds, strawberries, truvia and pb2 & egg whites w/salsa).  I am going to pack up some food to take with me to the zoo; I don't want to eat anything there.  I still feel bloated, but I think it may be going down a bit.  I ripped off that wrap last night; I felt like I couldn't breathe.  I feel so much better having that thing off; it was killing my ribs.  Anyhow, it is going to be in the 80's today, so a little warm for the zoo, but considering how hot it gets here, I shouldn't complain.  I have a follow up appt. with my doctor at 5:00 today, so will ask him about workouts, etc....I hope by next week, I can at least hike, or ride the stationary bike, do the stairclimber, something....

So....we are so caught up in this Peyton watch.  I don't expect him to come to Arizona, but we would be so happy if he did.  Guess time will tell.

run4life:  I will be thinking of you as you finish up your challenge this weekend.  I remember actually crying when I finished my final Hiit on that final weekend.   It was such an accomplishment, and I was so proud that I actually made it to the end without missing one single workout.

Parson:  We all have workouts like that.  The key is to move forward and get a better one in the next time.  I am sure your puny workout today was better than most people's tough workouts!!

Island:  Wow, you have been busy!!!  Sounds like things are going to remain hectic for you for a few days.  Way to work those workouts in; it sounds like you are killin' them.  So glad you got released from the doctor.  Hope all stays well with the neck, and you don't have any other issues with it.

Fit4life:  Yay, WTG on the 5K; that is Awesome.  Be proud.  Not all of us are born runners; I certainly am not!!  I hate to run; I just love to finish!!!

Cuervo:  Where are you, my friend????

Kids are stirring; gotta go make some BF for them.

    Have a fabulous day, everyone!!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Hi Warriors!!!!

Sounds like everyone is having a great day!

Island: Your strength sessions continue to amaze me!!!! I never see anyone in my gym lifting that heavy! Hope you get some down time b/t your 3 jobs!!!! Sorry about the lost posts...that stinks!

Parson: We definitely all have those days. I am glad you finished your workout and didn't quit....that's all that counts!

Fit4Life: Way to go on your first 5k!!!! Please don't be discouraged....you did awesome! So many people talk about wanting to run a 5k, but never accomplish it. You have accomplished it and in a great time! Keep it up!!!

BDMom: Hope you have fun at the zoo. I think I will take my kids to the zoo over Spring Break as well. It has been hot here too...it was up in the 80s yesterday and we turned on our A/C at home! I love Peyton Manning....he is from my hometown of New Orleans. My parents were HUGE fans of his dad Archie Manning when he played for the Saints way back when. I would love to see Peyton go play for the Saints like his dad, but don't think they need Drew Breez and Peyton! I guess if he goes to play for AZ I will have to become a fan!

Today was UBWO for me. I got on the treadmill to do my warm up and the gym was pretty crowded so I had to choose a treadmill b/t 2 guys running. Well, I always seem to get competitve when there are people running next to me (I especially love running faster than guys...ha ha), and I ended up running a little over 2 miles in 15 minutes. It was fun, but running is definitely addictive for me. I had to make myself stop to go do my strength training! I love to run fast. Anyway, I focused on chest and back today, then used the foam roller on my IT band and glutes...2 areas that have been bothering me from all this training. I am thinking about taking both Friday and Saturday off from working out to rest for Sunday's race. We'll see.....I might still do a little something tomorrow, but Saturday will definitely be a rest day for me.

I grilled turkey burgers last night and brought leftovers for lunch today. I also made some more homemade protein bars last night....so good!!!

Have a great rest of your day Warriors!!!!

  • I am here gang. I have been really down about my friend. It just hits home really bad. We buried him yesterday. Tomorrow is my last day on my job then the new one starts Monday. I am excited for my future. I havent been getting too much done in the way of workouts since last week. Tomorrow is another day right? Good luck to you all. I am reading your posts when I can. I hope to get my sorry @ss back in the groove. If not I am gonna be right back where I was.

    Have a great evening.

  • Hi Warriors,

    Where is everyone today???

Cuervo: I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. Don't feel bad about letting yourself grieve....you need to go through the grieving process even though it is difficult. It definitely takes time to deal with death, especially when it is someone so close to you. Mentally, your body and mind need this time of healing. You will be back to where you were when you are ready. I will be praying for you.

I went to the gym this morning and used the group fitness room for my workout. I did another combination of Tabata sprints and kettlebell exercises. It was a lot of fun. I added abs/core and also spent the last 10 min of my workout on the foam roller. Tomorrow will be a rest day for me....well, if you can call it "rest"....my sons have 2 soccer games then we will be driving 3 hours to the beach! We will have dinner with my sister and her family, and then Sunday morning is my half marathon. I am super excited!!!! I will try to post on Sunday afternoon to let you know how I finished.

Nutrition is packed and clean for the day. I will be eating a few more carbs tomorrow in preparation for the race.

    Have a great weekend Warriors!!!!

  • Good Morning Warriors!!!

It is a beautiful day here today, and I am going to take full advantage of it.  We have a storm system moving in and won't get out of the 50's Sunday or Monday...brrr.  Will take advantage of the sunshine today and tomorrow.  I faced the scale this morning, and am up 5#s!!!  Time to get busy and get rid of it.  I have been drinking tons of water, but still not making much progress.

I met with my doctor yesterday, and was happy to hear that I have far fewer restrictions this time around.  I plan to do a few days cardio next week (no running), and hike a few days, and then ease back into weights the following week.  I told my trainer that I'd be ready to train again the first week of April.  My husband's parents will be visiting the end of March, for about a week.  It is always nice to have them.  I actually love my inlaws!!  I am still debating what I will be doing for workouts.  I want to do the Jamie Eason plan eventually, but really need to hit the cardio hard for the next few months!

The girls are getting their hair cut today, and then we will be bowling with some friends (not me).  Delaney is then spending the night with a friend, so I told Britt I would take her to Kohls to look at clothes.  Another long day, but I am just happy to be healthy and able to enjoy it!

Cuervo:  I had to go back and re-read posts.  I guess with my anesthesia fog-head, I somehow missed your post.  I am soo terribly sorry for your loss.  Were they married a long time?  Was there always tension with the family?  Did the FIL feel he had a reason to do such a horrible thing?  That poor child.  I will be praying for the family, as well as for you!  Hugs!!  Good luck with your new job.  I expect to see you busting *ss with workouts now that you are not travelling as much!!

runnermom:  slow down!!!!  You have a half marathon coming up this weekend, and you are like the energizer bunny!!  Good luck.  I will be thinking of you.  The zoo was a lot of fun.  We were there about 4 hours.  My doctor told me that it was a little agressive for 3 days post surgery.  I didn't have a choice; I had promised to take the kids and didn't want to let them down.  My sister and her kids went with us, and she made sure I didn't do too much.  Doesn't look like Peyton will be making AZ his home; we would have heard something by now, because we have a deadline to meet, and Peyton is still interested in checking out other options.

To everyone else.  Have a great Friday and fabulous weekend!!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Happy Friday Warriors!

Lousy workout yesterday....AWESOME workout today!  I nailed it!  Mentally I needed this one today, and it felt great!  LBWO and my squats were heavy and deep...Good mornings were heavy and low!

Cuervo - It was good chatting with you last night.  I know you are looking forward to Monday for so many reasons!

BDmom - Enjoy the pretty weather.  It is gorgeous here today too.  I'm in shorts and enjoying it myself.

Runnermom - Enjoy the half marathon this weekend!  Do you have a time goal you are aiming for?  Will you carb up Saturday?  Have fun!

The Better Half is out of town this weekend...so me and the kids are going to be doing something...fun...

Warriors - Make it count!  DO NOT GIVE UP!  You are a Warrior!!!

  • Hey Warriors!

My week started a per normal and by Wed. got the word to start inspecting the Ballistic Plates that have been here for a while. Those are the ones u see the swat tteams wear. Here's the polite version of wed. We had everything going smooth until the supervisor made a comment to mine which she in turn took out of context and tried twist the her advantage and attaxck my work. Lets just say that the WARRIOR in me after 8yrs. of putting up with her crap went on the war path the very next day. Ended up talking to the supervisor that made the comment and he assured me that what was said wasn't what he said at all. So he went to his boss and so on until it hit her boss at a 2 hr. meeting. So yesterday I had my say and told her boss at point blank that I will not be discussing the issue with the 2 of them it was over. After lunch they both tried to get me to a meeting and I finally stood my ground and lost it again on both of them. I will not budge on this matter wild horses couldn't make me enough is enough. Just writing this get me fired up.Now we are back to the original plan and she is staying away from me and her boss stayed home. I have the full support of the managers on this one except mine Oh! Well. he is retiring in 2 months anyway. Then the changes will come and she has burnt alot of bridges. Mine was tghe last one in Q.C.

Now back to bussiness here, thanks for letting me vent guys. I needed that.

    Cuervo,

Hope you can refocus soon. It's so hard losing a loved one premature.

Parson, Glad you are back on track.

BD, Have fun enjoy the nice weather we are suppose to get to 18 C.

Will try and get on to MFP AND FIGURE THINGS OUT.

    Runner,

Wed. made it to the gym no choice Chris is trianing with his trainer and it was a good thing. Jumped on the TM after 35 min hit 3 miles, 0 % incline so as not to scewup my back. It felt so good and I was sooo mad and full of energy had a good sweat. Missed Thursday as we had a going away dinner for a friend a coleague of 20 yrs. so was    bad food night for me the ribs were so good and will be taking the boy out for dinner tonight after our wo. Will just be doing cardio so he doesn't lose interest in going to the gym with his dad. Can't wait to hear the result for this race I'm feeling you are going to shatter your PR. Should rest up and set the course on FIRE BABY! You own it.

    Island,

Dude you are sure kicking it way to go hope to be there soon like tonight. Still energized from the weeks events. I wish I could bottle the energy I'm feeling right now.

To all that I have missed keep pushing.

    Claude

  • Ok team The dude checking in hour 17 of my 30 hour work marathon yes all 3 jobs over the course of Friday morning 530am till 1130 am Saturday ... and just for the record I am not crazy lol.. it kinda just happend.. a perfect storm of jobs if you will lol. So yesterday I hit the gym and got my squats in I didn't want to push it too hard being that my legs had a bit of a workout with the deadlifting just 2 days before so I went for slow controlled reps topping off at 275 for 8 Tried it barefooted for the first time.. the latest book that I read.. "the spartan warrior workout" advocates doing compound movements ie: deadlifts, squats barefooted or if one must use shoes something along the lines of combat boots with a really rigid sole so there is not give when planting yourself. I also did my deadlifts barefooted for the first time ever this past tuesday and I really liked how it felt so I think I am going to continue to do it that way once the weight starts to get heavy.

I also have some pretty awesome news.. I gained some gym cred amongst the usual morning weight movers.. a group of about 5 guys that are there every morning that can move some serious weight and are built to do it. A couple of them approached me when I was inbetween sets and gave me props on the Deadlifting i was doing tuesday! Needless to say I was really stoked that I made an impression on them I jokingly made a comment and pointed to my shins that were a little busted up from that morning due to the bar sliding up and down with no chalk on them to which they replied "that's just proof that you were doing them the right way" which is true.. Talk about a confidence booster!!

Was not able to make it to the gym today nor get my container session in either booo! .. to say that Job 1 was one of the worst days would be a complete and utter understatement! That segment however, is done so I shall not dwell..

Cuervo: My prayers to you. I am very sorry for your loss, Runner is right you need to grieve.. Keep your head up.

Runner: HOW DID YOUR RACE GO?? I know you killed it!!

BD: Glad you can start moving already just take it easy! :)

Parson: Way to go on killing those legs I personally love those good mornings as well the stretch feels soo good!

Claude: I'm happy you found an outlet to get those frustrations out and good work on the TM!

Anyway warriors Have a great weekend.. after some much needed ZZZ's maybe hit the gym in the eve and kill my shoulders biceps and triceps we shall see.. anyway stay strong warriors!! aloha

  • Hi warriors!!

Quick post after my race. I had a great run!!! I finished the half marathon in 1:48, which is an 8:11 pace. I was very pleased! Not a PR for me but only a few minutes off my best so I'll take it!!

No time for personals... Getting ready to drive back home! Have a great rest of your weekend!!!

  • Good day Warriors!

We have had rain/hail off and on all day, and now sunny out...funny weather day, for sure.

Got my grocery shopping done and meals prepped/planned for the week.

I am up 5#s from surgery!  This week, I will hike a two days and do light cardio at the gym 2 days.  I am going on an all day field trip with Delaney on Friday, so won't do any workouts that day.  I have my meals planned and plugged into MFP.  I'm ready to go!

Tomorrow morning, after I take kids to school, I have an appt. with my dermatologist (skin check).  I grew up in the SW, and have been in the sun much of my life.  I try to go in once a year to make sure there is nothing unusual with my skin.  My dad has had some squamous cell carcinomas, but has worked out in the sun much of his life.  Better to keep an eye on anything, and catch it early!  So, after that, I will go to the gym and workout, and then hit the sauna, before heading to class tomorrow evening.  I will find out tomorrow what my mid-term grade is for nutrition, and will find out Tuesday about my chem mid-term.

runnermom:  I am so proud of you!!! That is an Awesome time!!  I'd probably still be out there, getting swept off the streets.  Were you able to fit in all that you had planned to with the kids?  Are you going to take it easy for a few days now?  Do you teach spinning this week?  Better get that tub filled with some epsom salt tonite!!

Island:  It is nice when others notice your efforts; way to go!!!  Sounds like your workouts are making an impact on lots of people.  Keep up the great work!!  Sounds as if you have been working a lot; I hope you got some down time this weekend.

Claude:  Sorry to hear about issues at work.  I hope all is better now, and there are no hard feelings on anyone's part.  Keep your head held high and your dignity in check.  Sometimes being fired up really makes for a great workout!!

Parson:  I knew you'd make up for that "lousy" workout; way to make it happen.  I am sure you are enjoying the time with your kids while your wife is away.  My kids love being home alone with dad; he is far more fun than mom!!!

I will try to check in sometime tomorrow afternoon.

    Have a great Monday, Warriors!!!

    Make it happen!!

"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"

  • Hi Warriors,

I have come to the sad conclusion that I AM OLD!!! I had a very hard time recovering after my race yesterday! It didn't help that I had a 3.5 hour drive home and 2 kids who were not feeling so well....my younger son gets really car sick on long trips (so, yes, that was fun!) and my older son has a severe allergy to pollen and there was SO much pollen at my sister's house, so he was suffering miserably! And, I ate REALLY unclean b/c my sister was having a feast at her house for a church function and after running 13 miles I totally lost all control with my eating! After driving home, I went to bed and didn't get out of bed until about 7 pm last night! I think these long runs are just too much on my body...seriously thinking of switching to 5ks and only committing to one half marathon per year (which will probably be this one at the beach b/c it's nice and flat!). Anyway, I am glad that I ran it and proud of my time, just wish I recovered better.

I got up this morning and walked for 10 minutes to loosen things up, then I got on the foam roller for 15 minutes. I tried to do a light UBWO, but not sure how productive I was!!! My body is totally exhausted so I didn't push myself. Today is definitely a recovery day for me, but definitely sticking with CLEAN food!

BDMom: Wow, can't believe you are back to your workouts already. I know I would be the same way, though. Try not to worry about those 5 pounds. My body is the same way....not fair for us!!!! But, I know you will be right back to it and will lose those 5 lbs and gain more muscle in no time!

Okay, just got a call from the school nurse and my son's allergies are so bad I have to go get him! So, will try to post more later!!!

    Have a great day!!!

  • Hey gang...

My job is great!! I worked for this company for 12 years, and left for 4 years but it seems like I have never been gone. I am really happy to be back.

I just finished my workout!!! Feeling good and hoping to get some momentum going. I had to buy some bigger pants over the weekend, but I am not too sad about it. I am 40 pounds heavier than last time I wore this size, so that means I have put on alot of muscle over the past couple of years. I know I need to lose some weight, but adding 40 pounds and wearing the same size makes me feel great about my journey. I am gonna have a great evening with the wife and kids, then maybe do a little cardio tonight.

BD- Hope things are back to normal for you and you are healed up. Just be careful not to do too much.

Runnermom- GREAT time in your run. I dont know how old you are, but there are millions way younger than you that couldnt attempt to do what you have. My respect to you. Plus, you are only as old as you feel.

Parson and everyone else, hope things are good.

    Have a great evening gang.
