Will check in later, but YUCK to Parson. I think I'd rather not eat than eat some of that stuff....ewwww. Glad you enjoyed it. Have a great day!
"The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!"
BDMom - LOL! I know a lot of people who feel the same way. Since I grew up around it I don't really think much of it. Personally, I have no desire to eat possum, but I know people who love it...I say YUCK!
In all seriousness, one of the best wild games foods for most people who have never had anything like it is the quail! It really is nothing but a smaller chicken. High protein/low fat. What I had Saturday was grilled and it was wonderful. To me if it is done right, it is not as dry as chicken tends to be...could be the fact that it's not pumped up with whatever they add in the factories!
It's a once a year event for some of the "deep wood locals" to come out in south GA...LOL! We had fun and everyone left their shotguns at home...haha!
HOWDY!! Eating lunch so I have a quick minute. I did a really heavy shoulder workout saturday and have not experienced and pain or soreness. Actually it is better than normal. I have been very careful recently not to injure it more. I have also been back on my strict meal plan. oatmeal, egg whites / Steak, sweet potato, broccoli / chicken, brown rice, mixed veggies / fish, brown rice, broccoli. And lots of water. I hope to see some changes in the coming weeks.
Funny thing, I usually hit the bathroom every 15 minutes when drinking lots of water. I have been drinking lots this weekend and today. I had to go take a drug test today and had downed 2 liters before leaving to go. When I got there...NOTHING. haha. Had to wait a while.
Parson - Way to go with the cookout. I love trying any new stuff like that.
Everyone else, have a great day.
Hi Warriors,
I got a new phone yestetday. Finally moved into the 21st century.
Parson,
I prefer wild bore any day even over pork. Much more flavour. Up here the natives eat porquipine, gopher, haven't tried those yet.
Will check in later.
Claude
Glad to see all the posts today! It has been a very busy morning for me, at home and work. My other son, Mickey, woke up at 2 AM this morning with the stomach bug. I won't got into detail, but he is feeling pretty cruddy!!!! We just can't get this stomach bug out of our house! I still got up at 4 AM and got my workout in, but I was super tired.
Parson: I agree with BDMom. I would rather eat nothing than all that wild game! I thought people only ate squirrel in my home state of Louisiana!!! That reminds me of those 2 old guys on "Swamp People" if you have ever watched that show. They eat anything they can shoot!!!! All I can say is YUCK and poor animals!!! Glad you had a good time at your cookout though!
Claude: Hope you like your new phone. What kind did you get? I have finally figured out how to talk to my new I-phone 4s and it is amazing to me!!!
Cuervo: Glad you are hitting those workouts hard and eating clean!!!! Way to go!!
BDMom: My massage was absolutely wonderful. The girl I got knew exactly how to work on runners and my trouble spots. Then date night was very fun. We went to an Italian restaurant, but I still kept it pretty clean and got a salad with grilled salmon. Also, many people have recommended "Courageous" to us so we are anxious to see it. I think our church is actually showing it in a few weeks so maybe we will watch it there.
Island: I am so sorry about your thumb. That sounds VERY painful!!!! I hope it heals quickly. Try to keep your nutrition clean and you should be fine.
Today was LBWO for me. I did a 10 min run on treadmill and then a new LBWO. It was a really good workout. I am still feeling really good about this challenge. Nutrition today is packed and clean. I made more homemade protein bars last night and they are so good!!!!
Have a great day Warriors!!!!!
Good Afternoon Warriors!!!
I went to the gym right after dropping off girls at school, so earlier than usual. I really like going at that time, and I saw some people I haven't seen in awhile. I did an UBWO, throwing in some tabata sprints. I did 4 minutes of tabatas on the TM, then did shoulders and back, and then did 4 more minutes of tabatas and then did bis & tris, and then 4 more minutes of tabatas, and then abs, and then followed it up with 20 minutes on the stairclimber. It was a great workout. I was able to sit in the sauna for 30 minutes as well. I am now home for a few hours to get some homework done before I have to leave for class. I got dinner in crockpot for the rest of the family. I will be eating oatmeal on my way to school, and a protein drink on my way home. The girls and I made mock samoa girl scout cookies that are lower in fat and calories over the weekend, but I may as well have had the real thing as many as I ate. I overdid it for sure. I also had too many dark chocolate acai berries..they are so good. I am steering clear of the sugar the rest of the week!! I will get up and do my HIIIT tomorrow morning and then get to the gym after class to do an LBWO. I will do Upper with my trainer on Wed, and then lower again on Thursday or Friday.
I don't know if any of you have watched Extreme Makeover Weight loss edition or not. The trainer on that show is from Phoenix (Chris Powell). He is going to be doing a hike next weekend, and several locals are going to join him. My sister wants me to go with her so she can get her book signed by him. It is supposed to be a hike for all fitness levels, so probably not very strenuous...might have to do another hike after the original (ha).
Island: so sorry to hear of your injury. I hope it heals quickly. That sounds painful!! Back in November, my husband severed his finger between a weight and the bench at the gym, and had to be taken to the ER; it was nasty and took a long time to heal. It still doesn't look right. Three days is just what you needed to get those muscles rested and pumped for the abuse they will be put through today.
Parson: You are funny. I have actually had venison a few times, but it has to be very tender and heavily marinated for me to eat it. I have also tried rattlesnake; it tastes like chicken, just like everything else (ha). My husband has eaten quail before. Heck, we could eat them everynite if we wanted to; we have so many of them around here. Glad you enjoyed the time with the locals!! Now, time to work it off!
Cuervo: So glad your shoulder isn't giving you problems. Yes, continue to be cautious of it during your lifts. Now that your diet is back on track, you will start seeing changes, I am sure of it. How funny, guess you had that white coat syndrome when it came to giving that sample.
Claude: enjoy your new phone!
runnermom: sorry Mickey isn't feeling well. Hope he is over it soon. I had a crush on a boy named Mickey when I was in 8th grade; that is when that Tony Basil song was popular...."Oh Mickey, you're so fine...." How funny. His name was actually Michael, but went by Mickey. Good job getting that workout in this morning. Sounds as if you were good at dinner; way to be! So glad you enjoyed that massage. It is so hard to find a good therapist that knows what he/she is doing. I don't like going to men, but sometimes they are the only ones who apply enough pressure. Some of the women aren't strong enough, or they are afraid they are going to break you.
Gotta go study!
Enjoy the rest of your day, and if you haven't worked out yet, you better go now!!!!!
Greetings Warriors on my last day at the current age of 53 (my birthday is tommorrow and I will be 54 of course then and before y'all ask NO I wasn't a leap year kid almost). BDMOM: Thanks for all your recent input and for waking some of us lurkers up around here. I hope you rescheduled surgers goes well and actually goes through next time as planned. Hang in there with balancing all you have to do in life. Parson: If squirrel is indeed good eating then my front yard would be prime hunting ground, I have several of my furry friends that hang out there for my daily peanut and walnut offerings I put on our tree. (Sorry don't think I really could eat the cute little critters though) Cuervo: Drank all that water for the test and then no test. Sounds like what the military used to put us through once a month. Best wishes on your running and workouts this coming month. RunnerMOM: Our Princess 5k and Marathon went off at DIsney without a hitch and no bad weather either. I saw the medals from the 5k and they were great, especially the tshirts because this year the royal presenters of the race were Rapunzel, her beau and Maximus the horse was there too. I bet the kids were thrilled on Saturday morning to seem them all together there. They ran through EPCOT mainly on the 5K. Well got to go get ready for all my freebies tommorrow (via internet) for my bday (free breakfast Perkins, free icecream cone, small BaskinRobbins, free entree at TOny Roma's(steakyeah) etc) and I am also lucky that this also falls on what is usually my Free Day tuesday too(not on a challenge right now but still a good thing). Will be starting my next challenge on 9th APril 2012 and using some bday money my mom sent to help set up the photo for that day as well. Have a great workout week and Keep Moving Forward everyone!
Good Morning Warriors!
Happy Birthday WPBill!!! You are the Warrior of the Day! Hope you enjoy it!
ClaudeL: When you said porquipine...the first thing that came to mind was every meal comes with a free toothpick LOL! That is a new one on me.
I got my workout in this morning, but that is about all I can say. I got to bed late and when I got up this morning I was firing on less cylinders than usual. It's done though, so there are no excuses for having a bad day.
Runner - Sorry folks are still sick at your house. I noticed BDMom mentioned more people being sick in her neck of the woods too...we have seen the same thing this winter. Don't know why, but I'm tired of it!
Cuervo, BD, Staats, Buzz, Tazz, Grandpa, Everyone - Make it count today. I need to buckle up myself and get it done too on my end. Great things are in store for us Warriors today and this week!
Hi Warriors!!!
Well, as of this morning everyone is well at our house! Yea!!! I guess Mickey had a 24 hr bug...that's usually how it goes with him. He was ready for school this morning....he hates to miss anything!
BDMom: My son's real name is Michael too. We decided to call him Mickey since my husband is also MIchael (but usually goes by Mike). My son loves the song "Hey Mickey"...he calls it "his song". I asked the gal who did my massage to use very deep pressure b/c I have found the same thing with female therapists....they sometimes don't use enough pressure for me. But she did a great job and I am still feeling great!!!!
WP: Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow. The Princess marathon sounds like so much fun. I would love to do it one day, or at least the half!!!! My kids keep begging us to take them to WDW so maybe we could schedule it around one of the races there.
Parson: Any workout is a good workout! Glad you were able to get it in this morning.
Today was double day for me. I did a 22 min running HIIT on the treadmill then had a good UBWO. I focused on shoulders, back, bis and tris. Tomorrow I teach spinning so it will be a pure cardio day for me. Nutrition is packed and clean for today.
Hope everyone has a great day!!!!
Good Morning Warriors!!!
It was a hectic morning in our household today. Of course, my husband was gone and got to miss it all. Two girls in the morning can give you a headache real quickly!!! My oldest daughter is not feeling great now, and was trying to decide whether to stay home or stick it out and go to school. I told her that she is old enough to make that decision. She won't miss school at all if she doesn't have to. She finally decided, after much debate that she would go, but I told her to text me on her break at 9:45 and let me know how she is feeling. I get out of class at 10:45 and told her that I could pick her up on my way home. My youngest daughter wanted to wear shorts to school today and it is cold and rainy here, so I told her she couldn't. I told her to wear pants or a skort with leggings under it. Well, she managed to find the shortest, thinnest pair of leggings she had.....let's just say that she is as stubborn as they come and I have to really choose my battles with her. I wasn't even able to eat BF until 7:30, and that was after getting up at 4:30 and doing my HIIT. I scarfed down BF like I hadn't eaten in a week...ha.
I do plan to get to the gym to do my LBWO later. Food is clean and packed/ready for the day.
runnermom: "My" Mickey was named Michael, after his father as well. So glad "your" Mickey is feeling better and back to school. I have had some massages (deep tissue) where I am sore for days after because they go so deep...there does have to be a happy medium. Great job getting that workout in. Today is double day for me, but I am able to break mine up..cardio in the am, and weights a bit later in the day.
WPBill: You're gonna need another challenge if you take advantage of all those birthday freebies!! Enjoy your day!!!!!
Parson: I am right there with you. I went to be at 10:00. Lane was up coughing around midnite; she still has that stubborn cough. One of our dogs was barking/whining/crying all night because it was storming. I think I got 4 hours total sleep throughout the night. I hope I can go to bed early tonite!!! At least you got that workout knocked out, so there are no excuses to miss it later on.
K...gotta go brush my teeth and get dressed for school.
Have a fabulous day!!
Hey Warriors,
Linda's getting Julies cold and I think I am too, yea. Went to the gym with Chris last night after work. It was his first wo with Kristy. So on the way over he was asking me where he needed to go and how he would reconize her. So I got to have a little fun with him, I told him I would show him to the room of pain and that she would know who he was so no worries.LOL. His meeting went good as she was only evaluating him last night and told linda and I that mom was exaggerating when she said Kristy was trying to kill her. Linda told him to wait she was just starting with him. We will see. He mentioned the Paleo diet to never heard of it. Will have to check it out. Will be taking Mocha to the vet on thurs. as she has not been herself for the past week and a half. All she does is lie in a corner or hides behind the coach. She was born with a herniated disc so maybe that's it we will find out.
My back was sore yesterday and has been since Sunday don't know what I did . Did 20 minutes on TM walking and 20 min. stretching as I didn't want to make matters worse feeling pretty good today still a little sore will do light cardio with Chris tonight as he is just starting out don't want to be the reason he gives up. Got more snow last night made driving a little slippery, more on the way for tomorrow and Thurs. yea! lol. Sarcasticly speaking of course. On the upside it will melt in another month or 2.
WPBill, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Enjoy the day.
Fogot about the toothpick thing.lol Any wo is better than none we always are harder on ourselves. You did what you could and that is all that matters. Good on you for getting it done.
BDMom,
You are so right about living with 2 girls, Chris and I go through this every day. lol Couldn't resist. Keep up the good work on thyose wo's keep still killing it. Will have to upgrade my data on the new phone as I am almost out after one day. lol Imagine that didn't realize how much I would use it. Also will be going onto my fitness pal latter. Will try tracking like that for a while and see where it leads me. OH! and yes I will. When I get there be patient. Enjoy the hikes!
Runnermom,
Glad all is well in your world. Nothing worse than being around sickies all the time. My new phone is the GALAXY by SAMSUNG the new google phone. This is quite an upgrade for me. Even put a bullet proof screen protector on it.lol. My daughter tells me not to hurt my phone as I have a tendency to try and push my finger through it. lol. Keep up the good work at least one of us is killing this challenge.Happy spinning.
Cuervo,
Sounds like a plan keep it going. My shoulders bother me some too but not ready for surgery. I figure if you strengthen the small muscles that should help.
Gotta run I hear work calling me. lol
Hey warriors Checking in today decided to try and change it up starting this week working 2 body parts a day yesterday chest and triceps and today back biceps and then doing some HIIT cardio on my lunch breaks.. basically doing 2 a days.. Morning Warriors!
I hear yall loud and clear on the getting girls up and ready for school. Joanna is 6 and some mornings she puts on an academy award winning performance for best drama. She has to wear a uniform to school...the choices are limited and we still have drama! Like my Mom says - I wish you were still a little boy so I could argue with you again over little things - cherish the time right!
We did Family Cardio last night...we took the kids around the block for a walk. Me and my daughter did a series of 40yd dashes/sprints. I must say I got a little winded on the trek. We had a great time!
Island_dude - I'm trying to do a few 2 a days here lately...WO in the early AM and then cardio at lunch or evening. It's honestly hit or miss for me. I end up getting it done like that 2x per week it seems. Its tough to say the least if you are pushing it even a little - @ least to me it is LOL!
ClaudeL - take care of the sore back! I hate not knowing why something is hurting...I hate even worse trying to push through when I shouldn't. Are you doing ice and heat on it at all?
Runner - How was spinning class this AM?
Cuervo - I know you were swamped when we chatted for a minute yesterday! Did you get your workout in last night?
Have a great day gang!
Happy Leap Day....
Just checked the time and have to leave in 5 minutes to take girls to school. Will check in in the next few hours.
MAKE TODAY COUNT!!! Take care of yourself!
Happy Leap Year Warrriors,
All is well with me today I found my wo diary thought I lost it searched all over so I thought. Found it this am as it turns out it got pushed off the end table by Calli my wife's cat she enjoys clearing tables counters etc.. It was under a box that went to the garbage this morning. Went to the gym with Chris last night had a ok wo not my usual. Chris was telling me that he doesn't sweat when he wo's really. So when we got to the cardio equipment I told him he should try doing Jacob's Ladder for 20 min. and I walked on the TM @ 0 incline. for 20min. I glanced over a few times and noticed he was wiping his brow with his hand. LOL. A couple of times he caught me looking and would just have the biggest smile on his face. lol When he didn't see me I could see him struggling. I may have short changed him when setting him up as I think I adjusted the belt to the wrong height a little too short. After that we did recumbent bike for 20. Then hit the showers and had a late supper. 9 pm. When linda woke him this am he said his hams were sore. So tonight is with Kristy. lol. I will do more cardio. I put some Voltaren cream on my back seem to help it's like A 535 with no smell. Didn't tell linda about the back she has enough with her own stuff. Eating is clean so far. Expect to make slow progress this week a little cardio is better than none.
Island_dude
Hows your thumb sound s like you are back now. Trying not to miss my gym now that Chris wants to wo I won't be the reason he can't. I will crawl there with him on my back if I have to,.lol That should be a good wo in itself.lol.
Parson, Thanks for your concern I am finally leaning to be carefull.
One of my female coworkers told me this morning that come summer I may have to go on a weight gaining diet. That felt so good. I still think I'm fat. Not there yet.
Chat later,
