I started BFL on 9/27/10 and just finished week 3. I've seen some great changes so far, but the biggest change and honestly, the most significant change is my health.
I donated blood today for the first time. Let me clarify... I've attempted to give blood several times a year for the last 7 years, but my iron levels were always too low. Today, my hemoglobin was at 14. The last time I tried to give blood, it was 10.4 and that was just in the middle of July, and my blood pressure was 120/80. Today, it was 100/66.
Being on this nutrition and exercise plan, I was able to increase the amount of iron in my blood - for the first time in 7 years. This is how I know, regardless of scale weight (I've lost 12.5 pounds) or inches (I've lost 12 inches), body for life is working for me in a positive way. My next donation can be done on December 11, just before the end of my challenge. I am interested and excited to know what my hemo level will be then!
If you are on BFL and struggling, because you might not see a ton of physical change, remember that inside, your body is becoming healthier!! THAT is what is most important!
Thanks for listening...
It is great to hear such good news! Thanks for sharing Rebecca.
congratulations. I have only been doing the program for two weeks. I have two work out partners, they are both men. they have been losing weight rapidly. Do women not show imrovement on the scale as fast as men? I feel so energized now.
Wow! Great news!! I love this post because so many women come into this and become discouraged fast because they see how fast the men lose weight. No, women dont show improvement on the scale as fast as men. Men will see changes almost immediately on the outside. Women see them on the inside. Around week 8 is when women will usually see a significant change. You just have to be patient and stick with it! This does work! I did BFL about 7 years ago and lost 50lbs and looked and felt great! Just hang in there, the outside changes will come!
morninggirl- my workout partners are both female, and our results are wildly different. After the 2nd week, we decided that "even if we show a little bit (even less than a pound or an inch) difference, then it was something to celebrate. Once I was able to donate blood, ALL of our spirits soared, because it was clinical evidence to us that this program works your whole body - it's not just about inches or fat or pounds - it's about getting your body healthy, and putting it where it needs to be - from the inside out :)
Don't be discouraged! Take each and every victory as a VICTORY - don't look at a half pound or a half inch lost as failing - it didn't take you a week to put it on, it won't take a week to take it off! :) You can totally do this :) As Sandra said, week 8 is generally the magic number - just keep it going, and you'll be amazed!
