Everett Herbert of Utah —
By the end of 1996 Everett was depressed, out of shape physically and mentally. Then his wife kept brining up the Challenge and the next thing Everett knew he was writing down his workouts and taking supplements. While a voice in Everett’s head was screaming “quit”, he didn’t. “I knew in my heart that finishing this one workout today and sticking to my diet would determine who I was, what I would look like and how I would feel about myself tomorrow,” Everett says. The Challenge gave Everett a new viewpoint on how to live his life. “At the start of this Challenge my life seemed beyond my control. It might have been getting up at 4:30 a.m. to go work out or going to the gym at 10:30 p.m., after a long, hard day at work, or sticking to my diet day after day, but slowly, that feeling of control, that I can make a difference, came back.”
